AgamemnonParticipantsweat if they want to swing for the fences. that guy has all the potential in the world it seems like.
rams did have armstrong on one of their personal visits i believe… so that would definitely not be surprising. he’s another guy who might have been misused in college. had a huge 2016 season.
i personally like okoronkwo. i think his athleticism is better than people think. 6.84 3 cone drill at his pro day which is phenomenal. rams have visited with him.
It is a decent draft yet. There are guys they can work with.

AgamemnonParticipantI do think its reasonable to think they will find a couple of gems in the late rounds with all those picks. I hope they dont trade up. I hope the make a gazillion picks and a couple are likely to be good.
w
vI can see them trading up for an edge rusher they like.
AgamemnonParticipant

You can use this to compare trades. Of course, we don’t see Snead making trades. 😉

AgamemnonParticipantFive pass rushers the LA Rams could target on Day 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft
The Rams have to take a pass rusher on Saturday…right?
By Brandon Bate@NoPlanB_ Apr 28, 2018, 6:35am CDTNo, the Los Angeles Rams did not take a pass rusher – like most anticipated – with their first pick (89) of the 2018 NFL Draft. Instead, they opted to add some depth along their offensive line by selecting TCU tackle Joseph Noteboom.
But there’s still plenty of work to be done. And finding a pass rusher, whether in round 4 or beyond, is still a primary need as the Rams head into the weekend.
So who’s left? The good news is that there are plenty of potential starters available for the Rams on Day 3. Over at Zone Coverage, Arif Hasan (who also writes for SB Nation’s Daily Norseman), has compiled an excellent draft tool in the form of a consensus big board. It’s comprised of 48 big boards from talent evaluators and draft scouts from big media outlets such as ESPN and NFL Network down to the smaller in notoriety (but certainly not in content) sites like Optimum Scouting.
Using Arif’s big board, along with an assist from NFLDraftScout’s Dane Brugler and NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein, here are five guys who could help the Rams fill their pass rushing need(s) on Saturday:
58. Josh Sweat, EDGE, Florida State
With his frame and body type, Sweat has flashes that are reminiscent of Jadeveon Clowney rushing off the edge. He doesn’t do it consistently enough, but the athleticism and pass-rush potential are there.
65. Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, DE/OLB, Oklahoma
Although short and undersized, Okoronkwo plays with outstanding power, using his length to forklift blockers from his path. Scheme fit might be the biggest culprit behind his drop into Day 3.
76. Duke Ejiofor, EDGE, Wake Forest
Ejiofor looked a little quicker and more fluid last season, but he’s not a naturally gifted athlete. Ejiofor’s game revolves around his heavy hands and his ability to finish as a rusher if a blocker gives him an opening. Ejiofor needs to play with better play speed and a more consistent motor to reach his potential, but his natural strength and ability to harass the quarterback as an interior rusher on sub packages gives him a chance to find some early playing time even if he’s a backup.
102. Shaquem Griffin, LB, Central Florida
Griffin’s tremendous story has been well documented; the only thing left in his draft story is to find out where he will play in the NFL. We will find out early in the fourth round on Saturday.
113. Genard Avery, LB, Memphis
Avery switched between an off-ball linebacker and edge rusher role at Memphis, flashing intriguing athletic and power traits. He lacks great length and will be a scheme fit issue for several teams.
Honorable Mention: 127. Dorance Armstrong Jr., EDGE, Kansas
The Rams currently own three 4th-round picks (111, 135, and 136), as well as a slew (5) 6th-round picks. Knowing Les Snead, if he likes one of these guys as much as the draft experts do, it won’t be surprising to see the Rams bundle up some picks and get to work early on Saturday.
I like Sweat and Armstrong. And this guy, 195. Hercules Mata’afa, EDGE, Washington State.

AgamemnonParticipantDraft: The Rams went heavy on receivers in the last two drafts, taking Cooper and Thomas in 2016 and Kupp and Reynolds last year. Their draft capital would be better spent on other positions.
Actually the Rams were heavy in this year’s draft too. They gave a #1 for Cooks this year and a #2 for Watkins last year.
AgamemnonParticipantRaiders’ stance on Khalil Mack’s contract has never wavered
The Raiders front office is seemingly remaining calm on the Khalil Mack contract talks.Jeff Smith – Apr 14, 2:10 PM
Oakland Raiders star Khalil Mack is not in attendance for the start of offseason workouts as he and the team work out a contract extension. When the star pass rusher’s extension will get done is a looming question that doesn’t have any exact timeline.
Fortunately, there doesn’t seem to be much tension surrounding the topic, at least when evaluating general manager Reggie McKenzie’s most recent comments.
While the two sides work toward an agreement that will likely make Mack the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL (or possibly No. 2, if Aaron Donald strikes a larger deal), McKenzie has remained incredibly positive.
When NFL.com’s Steve Wyche asked McKenzie about the situation, he didn’t shy away from the obvious fact that the organization wants Mack to be a Raider for life while also pointing out that things have remained positive on all sides.
“This is going to be a big contract and all sides are trying to make everything work,” McKenzie told NFL.com on Wednesday. “It’s about the end result. One thing I know is that we love Khalil Mack and we want to make him a Raider for life. We’ll get through all the other stuff. We understand the business part of it. Everybody is aware of everything and nobody is surprised. Everything, on all sides has been positive. I can’t stress that enough.”
This shouldn’t be a surprise at all, as the Raiders have fully known that the big payday would almost certainly be coming this offseason for the 2016 Defensive Player of the Year. These comments also come on the heels of Wyche reporting that Mack is expecting to receive “guarantees in excess of $65 million.”
Taking McKenzie’s comments and pairing them with the reports of Mack’s apparent contract demands seems to connect the dots that the two sides are at least somewhat on the same wavelength. Obviously, this doesn’t mean that Raiders are just going to fork over $65 million or more in guarantees, but the negotiations remaining positive to this point show the franchise’s commitment to their defensive star.
Currently, Mack is set to play 2018 under the fifth-year option from his rookie contract and will cost the Raiders over $13.8 million in cap space if he were to move forward without a new deal, according to Spotrac. A new contract, if set up in a way that benefits the team up front, could still bring that cap number down in 2018, and also potentially give Gruden and the Raiders front office some additional space to work with for the remainder of this offseason.
The Oakland Raiders are wrapping up free agency and now have big decisions to make in the 2018 NFL Draft! Want the latest news sent straight to your inbox? – Sign up for our FREE Raiders newsletter now!
I agree with the theory that says they are waiting for the Raiders to get Mack done.

AgamemnonParticipantRams get hybrid offensive weapon in latest Draft Wire four-round mock
Rams get hybrid offensive weapon in latest Draft Wire four-round mock
As a result of two blockbuster trades for wide receivers in the past eight months, the Los Angeles Rams will be without picks in the first two rounds of the 2018 NFL Draft. They traded a second-rounder for Sammy Watkins back in August before essentially replacing him with Brandin Cooks last week, who cost Los Angeles a first-round pick.
Sean McVay doesn’t seem worried about the lack of top-60 selections, but waiting until No. 87 to make their first pick in the draft will be difficult. It’s hard to gauge which players will be available at that point, while trying to find both Day 1 starters and good depth at positions of need.
Luke Easterling of Draft Wire did his best to find the Rams some valuable pieces in his latest four-round mock draft, splitting their first four selections between the offense and defense.
In Round 3, Easterling slotted Michigan lineman Mason Cole to the Rams. The former Wolverine started his collegiate career at left tackle, playing his first two seasons at that spot. He then moved inside to guard, which is a more natural spot for him, but it’s not exactly the most highly coveted position.
He could come to the Rams as a versatile lineman with the potential to succeed John Sullivan at center, while providing depth at multiple spots in the interim.
At No. 111 – the Rams’ first pick in the fourth round (via the Dolphins), they grab USC edge rusher Rasheem Green. He’d play outside linebacker in Los Angeles, though he primarily lined up at defensive end for the Trojans. In 2017, he led the team with 12.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, earning All-Pac 12 honors. He’s not the most refined pass rusher, but the fourth round isn’t exactly filled with polished prospects.
Later in the fourth round, Easterling has the Rams taking R.J. McIntosh from Miami and Jaylen Samuels out of NC State. McIntosh projects as a defensive tackle in the NFL, but he doesn’t have the size to play nose tackle in a 3-4 defense. And with Ndamukong Suh in the mix, this pick doesn’t exactly fill a major need. Still, he can be a nice rotational player and future starter with Suh only on a one-year deal.
Samuels is the most interesting pick in this mock, considering no one really knows where he’ll play in the NFL. He’s too short to play tight end, too small to play fullback and lacks the ideal size to line up at wide receiver.
With Sean McVay at the helm, however, he’d have no trouble finding a spot for Samuels. He can play H-back, lining up all over the field – from the backfield to outside the numbers. Samuels also provides value as a return man, though Pharoh Cooper likely has that job on lockdown.
This isn’t the most conventional mock draft you’ll see for the Rams – especially without first- and second-round picks, but it does fill a few needs for them. Mixing in an inside linebacker would’ve improved it further.
