They had to fire Fisher now, because what if he won against Seattle? This was the best time to fire him.

They are showing Demoff doing the press conference on the NFL Channel, so there will be a video somewhere.

They might never post a link for this. Twitter might have some stuff later, if they don’t post this as a video.

I read that everybody and his cousin is lining up to coach the Rams. Maybe even Gruden? I don’t know that he is a favorite of mine, but why not? Anyways, it will be interesting to see how a new set of eyes looks at the Rams.

PS. I want a coach without a mustache.

Rams fire Fisher as head coach

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Jeff Fisher’s tenure in Los Angeles didn’t last one full season.

The Rams fired their coach on Monday. Special teams coordinator John Fassel will serve as interim coach. The Rams are at Seattle on Thursday night.

    VIDEO: FISHER FIRED

Fisher was the team’s coach since 2012, and compiled a 31-45-1 record with the Rams. He oversaw the move from St. Louis to Los Angeles this past offseason.

The lack of success on the field, capped by a 42-14 home rout at the hands of Atlanta on Sunday, spelled the end for Fisher.

Los Angeles is 4-9 this season and has scored a league-low 194 points.

“Making a decision such as this, especially during the season, is one of the most difficult in sports,” Rams owner Stan Kroenke said.

“I have great respect for Jeff as a coach, person, father and friend. He has worked tirelessly despite some challenging circumstances. He played an integral role in helping this team make history in returning the NFL to Los Angeles, and we always will be grateful for his commitment and dedication to our organization.”

Fisher, 58, went 147-126 as coach of the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans and helped that franchise in its relocation. He led the Titans to the 1999 AFC championship.

Long respected in league circles for his work on the NFL’s competition committee, Fisher never found success — or a franchise quarterback — with the Rams, who went 7-8-1, 7-9, 6-10 and 7-9 in his four full seasons.

They traded up for the first selection in this year’s draft and took Cal’s Jared Goff, but he rode the bench for much of the season behind journeyman Case Keenum as LA started the schedule 3-1. Fisher finally turned to Goff in Week 11 and the Rams dropped all four of his starts.

Kroenke said in his statement that “this is the right time to make a change as our performance has not lived up to my or our fans’ expectations. We all are focused on improving as an organization and building a team that makes Los Angeles proud. Our mission is to celebrate a Super Bowl title with our fans in Los Angeles. Today is the first step to bringing us closer to that goal.”

Oddly, Kroenke gave Fisher a contract extension before the season, though it was not made public until recently.

Now, that extension looks more like a bonus to Fisher for his role in aiding the organization’s move to California than being any part of a plan for the team’s future.

Fassel, 42, joined the Rams after spending the past three years as special teams coordinator in Oakland. He’s also worked for the Ravens.

He is the son of Jim Fassel, who coached the Giants to the 2000 NFC title.

Attendance has been something of an issue at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which has a listed capacity of 93,607. Only in their home opener did they approach that number, and they drew 82,495 on Sunday.

That’s still a high number, but their performance against Atlanta isn’t likely to help sell more tickets for their remaining two home games.

So do we want Snead to stay?

    w
    v

At first I did, but now I am in the I don’t care whether he stays or goes, but they have already done a lot of work on the next draft. We don’t have a first round pick. I guess I would still rather he stayed, but I am afraid he was in favor trading up, then I want him gone. OK, I guess I don’t care. 😉

Jeff Fisher Reacts to Rams’ Week 14 Loss, Wedges in Excuse
by Michael Moraitis2 hours agoFollow @michaelmoraitis

Los Angeles Rams head coach Jeff Fisher shared his thoughts on the team’s embarrassing loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Week 14 was another pathetic showing for the Los Angeles Rams, but for head coach Jeff Fisher, it seemed like just another loss.

Fisher spoke to the media following the 42-14 shellacking at the hands of the Falcons, which included a 42-0 deficit at one point in the game.

While things have been spiraling out of control for months, if not years now, Fisher doesn’t subscribe to that notion:

    Delusion at its finest, folks.

This team is a runaway train that has gone straight off a cliff. To say things aren’t getting out of control when this team is embarrassed on a weekly basis is just absurd.

Don’t worry, though, Fisher understands why you’re upset:

Sorry, Jeff. Clearly you don’t understand why fans are upset. Fans are upset because this team has already spiraled out of control and you have done nothing in four-plus years to fix it.
    Jeff Fisher’s Veiled Excuse

Of course, the customary Fisher excuse was wedged into his response with his reference to the team’s long road trip, although it was a bit more veiled this time:

It’s also good to know Fisher only had a “glimmer of hope” for Sunday’s game, which is much more than most Rams fans had:

Bill Polian, NFL Front Office Insider: This is a tough call. Wentz has size, an excellent arm, a winning track record and outstanding intelligence. The problem is that he has not faced top competition. Goff, on the other hand, has played at the highest level, but Cal wasn’t great and didn’t win many games. He has excellent height and great bloodlines; his father, Jerry, was a pro baseball player. He also has exceptionally quick and active feet, a very fast release and good accuracy. He plays in a pure spread system, and as a result he is often under duress from rushers. He extends plays well and sees and scans the field exceptionally. In the end, the level-of-competition argument favors Goff, and the size argument favors Wentz. If you put a gun to my head and forced me to make a pick, it would be Wentz based on size alone. Then again, if you put the gun down I might change my mind. I think both players have what it takes to succeed in the NFL.

NFL projected salary cap for 2017 expected to be $163-165 million
    8:16 AM CT

    Adam SchefterESPN Senior Writer

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/18253609/nfl-projected-salary-cap-2017-expected-163-165-million

The NFL plans to inform teams this week about the projected salary cap for the 2017 season, which is expected to be somewhere between $163 million and $165 million, league sources told ESPN.

This season’s salary cap is $155.27 million, so the league is preparing for another $10 million jump in the cap, although the precise figures will not be known until shortly before the league year begins in March.

NFL owners are scheduled to meet this week in Dallas. At that meeting, the league’s management council presents the first 2017 salary-cap projections to teams before they are finalized next year.

The first figures presented typically come in lower than the actual cap, which helps keep teams’ expectations in line.

Snead, unlike Fisher, is owning his mistakes and laying out ideas and changes to limit them moving forward.

Man, regardless what happens to JF and LS, I don’t get much out of VB’s stuff like what I quote here. JF straightforwardly said “we have to do a better job on personnel.” Since he’s involved in personnel, he was tarring his own self with that brush too.

    Snead didn’t say anything new.

But a coach prepping a team for a game should include a dose of optimism in what he says. I am not sure what VB doesn’t understand about that.

    Bernie the 2nd.

    .

Yeah, his stuff seems to come from the “I don’t like Fisher place.”. At this point it is more about Goff than about Fisher or Snead. imo I have been trying to find a video of the interview. I would think someone would have recorded something like that. So far no luck.

It seems the LATimes had a video, but it is no longer up.
