AgamemnonParticipantI wonder who they will release though in two weeks to make room for Donald?
I will guess Fox, cause they might be able to get him on the Practice Squad.
AgamemnonParticipantRams have received a roster exemption for Aaron Donald, which means they didn't have to make a roster move when he reported.

AgamemnonParticipantI thought Forrest looked like a nice prospect during preseason. I figured he was a lock to make the 53 man roster.
Now he’s been waived from the practice squad.
Shows what I know…
I thought the same thing. But, he hasn’t been waived from the Practice Squad. He was waived from the 53 man roster to IR and then given a settlement. Last year they just left him on IR. After a certain time, depending on the severity of the injury they can add him to the Practice Squad or 53 man roster. In the mean time, he is free to make a deal immediately with another club.

What does it mean when an NFL player is waived/injured?
Updated on September 2, 2016 at 11:25 AM Posted on September 2, 2016 at 11:01 AMBy Dan Duggan
NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
As NFL teams trim their rosters from 90 players to 53 by Saturday, most of the transactions this week will be described as “cuts.” But it’s not that simple.
There are different classifications for the ways a player can be removed from the roster. The difference between being waived and released is the most basic.
When a non-vested player (someone with less than four years of experience) gets cut, he is subjected to waivers, which gives every team 24 hours to claim him. The player becomes a free agent if he is not claimed on waivers. When a vested veteran is cut (released) in the preseason, he can immediately sign with any team.
Giants cut roster to 75
Giants cut roster to 75
The first round of roster cuts took place on Tuesday.
The designation waived/injured is a bit more complicated. The Giants cut three players this week with the waived/injured designation: Fullback Nikita Whitlock (foot), tight end Matt LaCosse (knee) and tight end Ryan Malleck (burner).
After doing some research and speaking to league sources, here are the key points about the waived/injured designation:
*Vested veterans can be put directly on injured reserve without being exposed to waivers. This is what the Giants did with fifth-year offensive lineman Byron Stingily, who was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday with a concussion.
*Up until the first cut-down day, which was Tuesday, injured non-vested players must be placed on waivers through the waived/injured designation before being placed on injured reserve. This prevents teams from stashing young players on injured reserve. Once a waived/injured player clears waivers, he reverts to the team’s IR.
*After the first cut-down day, teams can use the waived/injured designation or they can place a player directly on IR.
*NFL players receive 1/17th of their salary each week during the season. So, players on injured reserve receive 1/17th of their salary each week they’re on IR during the season.
But players may not receive their full salary while on IR because many non-vested players have split contracts. Players on split contracts will receive their full salary if they’re on the 53-man roster and a lower split if they’re on injured reserve. For a rookie making the league minimum, the difference would be 1/17th of $450,000 each week on the active roster and 1/17th of $330,000 each week on IR.

Bennett Jackson, Cooper Taylor among cuts.
*After a player is waived/injured, the player and the team have five days to agree to an injury settlement. An injury settlement is designed for a team to pay the player for the time he is expected to miss with the injury.
If a settlement is reached, the player becomes a free agent and can sign with another team immediately. If a settlement is not reached, the player goes on the team’s injured reserve. A player on IR can’t be waived until he passes a physical.
*In the case of a short-term injury, it’s typically in the best interest of both the team and the player to come to an injury agreement.
With a settlement, the team can pay a lump sum to cover the weeks the player will miss due to injury and then cut the player. If the player remains on the injured reserve, the team is responsible for paying his salary each week.
For the player, a settlement allows him to collect compensation for his injury while also immediately seeking opportunities with other teams.
*An injury settlement doesn’t automatically occur. If the player suffers a long-term injury, he would have little incentive to pursue an injury settlement. And if a player is in a team’s future plans, the team would likely keep the player on injured reserve.
Sometimes the sides just can’t reach a settlement. In those cases, the player would be placed on injured reserve and likely waived once he passes his physical.*In the past, teams weren’t able to re-sign waived/injured players until the injury settlement time period plus six additional weeks passed. But a new rule instituted this preseason has reduced the waiting period to the injury settlement time period plus three additional weeks before a team can re-sign a played that was waived/injured.
What does this all mean for the Giants that were waived/injured?
LaCosse and Whitlock were waived/injured on Monday and have cleared waivers. They are facing prolonged absences, so odds are that they will remain on injured reserve this season.
Malleck, who was waived/injured on Tuesday, cleared waivers on Wednesday afternoon. Depending on the timetable for Malleck’s recory, he could be an injury settlement candidate. If Malleck and the Giants reach an injury settlement, he could sign elsewhere or return to the Giants, likely on the practice squad, after the settlement and additional three-week waiting period ends.

Aaron Donald avoids financial loss, minimizes injury risk

Getty ImagesRams defensive tackle Aaron Donald wanted to turn the current rookie wage structure upside down. While he didn’t quite do so (yet), Donald has created a new precedent for players caught between picks No. 11 and 32 in the draft.
Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the Rams agreed to waive $1.48 million in fines in return for Donald reporting to the team today. By reporting today, Donald also avoided signing bonus forfeiture of $711,500 and the loss of a $106.014 game check. Also, the Rams have agreed that none of Donald’s remaining guarantees ($8.694 million) have been waived by the contract breach arising from the holdout.
So he’s exactly where he would have been financially, if he’d shown up for training camp (minus the per diem and piddly game checks for the preseason). Equally as important, Donald also avoided all injury risk arising from training camp and the preseason.
Conversely, Giants receiver Odell Beckham Jr. showed up for training camp — and nearly suffered a season-ending injury during a preseason game. Ditto for Raiders pass rusher Khalil Mack, who emerged from August with a knee injury that caused him to miss a practice in the week preceding the season-opening game.
Talks will continue on a long-term deal for Donald. If one happens this year, great. If not, look for Donald to consider the same approach in 2018.
Either way, look for other plays who are subject to a fifth-year rookie option and who aren’t in the top-10 transition tag range to consider following Donald’s lead if they don’t get a new contract after their first three NFL seasons.
AgamemnonParticipantRams star Aaron Donald ends holdout, returns to team without new contract
By Rich Hammond | rhammond@scng.com | Orange County Register
PUBLISHED: September 9, 2017 at 11:57 am | UPDATED: September 9, 2017 at 12:03 pmThe Rams’ nightmare scenario ended Saturday morning when star defensive lineman Aaron Donald ended his contract holdout and reported to the team, albeit without a new contract.
Donald remains under contract through the 2018 season, but is seeking a new deal. That led Donald to stay home when his teammates reported to training camp in late July, and Donald held out for six weeks.
Donald will not play in Sunday’s season opener against Indianapolis at the Coliseum, but he did pass his physical Saturday, so presumably Donald will be on the field when the Rams resume practice next week.
Rams coach Sean McVay addressed the Donald situation after the team’s practice Friday at Cal Lutheran.
“We’re still trying to come to find a way to come to a solution,” he said, “but it’s safe to say that he won’t be a part of this game.”
Why end the holdout now, without a new contract? If Donald didn’t report this weekend, he would not have been paid his first-week salary of more than $100,000, plus an unspecified amount of bonus money.
The Rams added Donald to their active roster Saturday and will pay him in full this week. The Rams also received a short-term exemption from the NFL that allowed them to add Donald as a 54th player, and prevented them from having to cut a player in order to get to the NFL active-roster maximum of 53.

I have the Rams with 6 players on the IR. The Rams don’t show Laskey on their official site, but they do show Marquez. Spotrac shows Laskey, but not Marquez. I can’t find where either have had an injury settlement. I am not sure if they will keep Forrest and Tillery on the IR or if they will eventually come to a settlement.
.
It looks like the Rams will not add Grigsby to the Practice Squad. But he was one of last players released, so they still might add him.

Analysis: Rams Release First Unofficial Depth Chart of Regular SeasonPosted 21 minutes ago
Myles Simmons Rams Insider @MylesASimmons
With the season opener against Indianapolis just days away, Los Angeles has released its first unofficial depth chart of the regular season, and there are a few notable aspects. Here are three quick tidbits.
1) Watkins listed as a starter
Though he’s been with the team for only a few weeks, wide receiver Sammy Watkins is listed as one of the Rams’ three starting wide receivers. Previously, the Rams’ three starters were listed as Robert Woods, Tavon Austin, and Cooper Kupp.
Watkins said on Monday that he spent a lot of late nights studying the playbook during training camp in order to get comfortable as quickly as possible.
‘“You stay up [until] 2 o’clock, 3 o’clock, especially during camp. When I was in camp, I was trying to catch up and just be on the right page,” Watkins said. “They were throwing stuff at me. The first day, I was like, ‘OK, now they’re just trying to see how much I’m studying.’ So I had to over-study and just be on point.”
2) Smart listed as a starter
Rookie defensive tackle Tanzel Smart is listed as the first-team defensive tackle, ahead of Quinton Jefferson, who Los Angeles recently claimed off waivers.
With Aaron Donald absent as his representation and the club continue to negotiate a contract extension, head coach Sean McVay has been complimentary of Smart’s development under defensive line coach Bill Johnson. McVay’s named Smart as one of the players who has received more reps that he would have otherwise.
“I think we’ve seen some really good things from a Tanzel Smart, that you see him play at the three technique, you see him play at the nose,” McVay said in late August.
Whether he’s the first man out with the defensive line or not, Smart projects as a significant rotation player on the unit.
3) Many new starters
The Rams have had significant year-to-year turnover, which is expected with a new coaching staff.
On offense, the Rams are projecting seven different opening day starters — quarterback Jared Goff, left tackle Andrew Whitworth, center John Sullivan, right guard Jamon Brown, wide receiver Sammy Watkins, wide receiver Robert Woods, and tight end Tyler Higbee. And that’s saying nothing of projected significant contributors like tight end Gerald Everett and wide receiver Cooper Kupp.
The numbers aren’t quite as high on defense, where there are four new projected starters: outside linebacker Connor Barwin, cornerback Kayvon Webster, defensive lineman Ethan Westbrooks, and Smart.
That said, a few players are in different positions. Robert Quinn has shifted from defensive end to outside linebacker in coordinator Wade Phillips’ scheme. Lamarcus Joyner has gone from slot corner to free safety — although it seems he may still appear at slot corner from time to time. And Maurice Alexander has gone from a free safety last year to a strong safety in 2017.
September 5, 2017 at 11:55 am in reply to: 9/2 = roster cutdown; 9/3 = practice squad; 9/7 must be under the cap #73774
AgamemnonParticipantOfficial cap space as Week 1 begins:
Top 3:
49ers: 64.2M
Browns: 61.8M
Jaguars: 35.3MBottom 3:
Dolphins: 1.8M
Rams: 738k
Chargers: 434k— Field Yates (@FieldYates) September 5, 2017

Spotrac is close, but the official numbers are a bit better. Either way, the Rams will need to find some cap relief to get within the cap by Sept. 7. (going from 51 to 53) They will also need money for the Practice Squad and to cover players going on IR.
.
Probably ~$4 million to take care of the whole year.
51 – 53 man roster = $465,000 x 2 (min. wage rookies)= $930,000
Practice Squad = $1.152,000 (10 players x $7200 per game x 16 games.)
Injured Reserve = ~$3,000,000 more than already used.
Total = $5,082,000 – $738,000(current space) = $4,344,000-
