Chant it from the rooftops “The Rams will fail miserably. Everybody is expecting them to do well and I swear they won’t live up to the hype. They’re only good on paper.” It. Will. Not. Matter. Love it or hate it, the Rams will win the NFC West again. Get ready. #LockangelesJuly 24, 2018 at 4:28 pm #88460

I think Donald will be moved. Not sure how they fit all these guys under the cap. If Suh balls out this season AD is out. They rent Suh for a couple of years then start over at the position.Vincent Bonsignore@DailyNewsVinny
No.FYI on #Rams extension with Todd Gurley and how it (doesn’t) impact Aaron Donald’s situation. As Les Snead said, these deals are unto themselves and negotiated simultaneously.

Do you think @JaredGoff16 can be a top 10 QB? I think it’s still a lot of people who don’t respect him. I think he’s going to light the #NFL on fireVincent Bonsignore@DailyNewsVinny
YesGoff is really good.
Viable #NFL QB capable of quarterbacking a team to playoffs. Which is what any NFL team’s fanbase would want and is the opposite of what many were saying this time last year. My prediction: That “to the playoffs” will eventually be followed by “and beyond”

Snead: “Each situation is different” for contract extensions. Snead adds, “We’re simultaneously working to make Aaron a Ram for a long time.” #LARams==
Ryan Kartje@Ryan_Kartje
Sean McVay said Gurley’s contract extension “doesn’t have any affect on the Aaron (Donald) things.”===
Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
Cooks’ deal didn’t affect Donald, and Gurley won’t either. The numbers are way past what you’ll see in those two, so it’s not like this sets some kind of floor.July 24, 2018 at 4:37 pm #88461
znModeratorGreat to see Les Snead and the @RamsNFL front office prioritize the running game! To not only draft @TG3II early, but now lock him into a long term deal to ensure he continues to thrive as a Ram is huge! #STRB https://t.co/CRRJBhYOFz

Asked to answer the “pay the man” narrative of some Rams fans and players on Aaron Donald’s contract situation, Les Snead says he’d “probably agree with the fans. That’s what we’re trying to do.”Snead addresses Aaron Donald’s contact situation: “It’s not only Todd but a lot of other guys that we want to make Rams (for a long time). We’re… working to make Aaron a Ram a long time. That’s the goal.”
McVay on Donald situation: “I don’t think it’s going to be a distraction. We’re constantly working towards finding a solution… But life goes on, camp moves forward.”
On Brandin Cooks, McVay says he was impressed with “just the way he immediately fit into the culture and endeared himself to his teammates.”
Rams treating Gurley like the star offensive weapon he is, rather than just a running back.
Les Snead: “We started talking with Todd and his representation really this spring to get ahead of the curve.” Says Gurley is “a big part of who we are and where we’re going.”
Sean McVay on Toddy Gurley’s contract extension: “I feel fortunate to be able to work with people like Todd… He earned this”

$45 million guaranteed blows away the rest of the running back marketGurley’s deal is an interesting one to discuss. The Rams could’ve let him play out his deal, then franchised him twice (at a number that probably wouldn’t have been THAT much higher than tag), before then grooming a replacement.
Todd Gurley was already making himself heard on guaranteed contracts. Now, he’s negotiated the largest guaranteed contract ever for a running back. Le’Veon Bell, David Johnson, and Ezekiel Elliott are all rejoicing right now.
Gurley’s contract will run through 2023, just as he nears the dreaded 30-year old running back zone. I’m sure there will be options to cut ties before then, though. How the guaranteed money is allocated, cap-wise, will be very interesting.

Hmmm.. I’ve tried to tell some folks that the “hybrids” will change the RB market.. $15M per makes sense for a RB1/WR2.. Maybe @LeVeonBell wasn’t so crazyThe 230+ RB with elite running skills and pass catching ability is a hot commodity. To earn top $ in today’s game as a RB, you must be able to impact the game as a runner/receiver.. Those guys will get the bag

Transcendent running backs are worth a lot and will uniformly be paid like it soon.==
Dan Orlovsky@danorlovsky7
This is so dope. I was with Gurley in camp last year and 2 things BLEW ME AWAY. 1) he has high end NFL WR speed-as a RB. 2) He works like Calvin Johnson did-Almost with an undrafted rookie mindset-fearful every day of getting cut. Congrats @TG3II @RamsNFL #rams #nflJuly 24, 2018 at 6:52 pm #88472

Heard Les on ESPN 710 say that these deals are negotiated in a vacuum, independently and at their own pace no matter what other things are going on.

If you’re into the age/prime comparison, Gurley turns 24 before this season. That’s much closer to Ezekiel Elliott (will play Year 3 at 23yo) than Le’Veon Bell (26) and David Johnson (turns 27 late this season), soon to be his contractual peers.

Sean McVay said if the Rams had to play right now, that Austin Blythe would start in Jamon Brown’s spot at right guard (Brown is suspended first two games). McVay added that tackle Joe Noteboom, a third-round pick, also has ability to play inside.July 24, 2018 at 7:53 pm #88481

Firmly believe key to unlocking Gurley was hyper usage in passing game. @greggrosenthal banged drum this would happen after visiting #Rams camp last offseason. (Narrator voice: It did.ESPN Stats & Info@ESPNStatsInfo
Todd Gurley turns 24 years old on Aug. 3. He has the 5th-most yards from scrimmage of any player before turning 24 years old in NFL history behind Barry Sanders, Clinton Portis, Edgerrin James and Emmitt Smith.==
Running backs have historically earned the short end of the stick when it comes to contract negotiations. But Todd Gurley’s extension sets a new bar for that market https://t.co/oVP5HUjtvD

From all my years as an @nfl fan as well as being a player…I don’t recall any previous year 11 win @nfl team…making as many off season splashes as these @RamsNFL!==
Scott Barrett@ScottBarrettDFB
Last season, Todd Gurley— Accounted for 36.2% of his team’s total yards (most among all players)
— Scored 42.2% of his team’s offensive touchdowns (most among RBs)
— Pass blocked on 74 dropbacks, surrendering zero sacks -
