ROSTER MOVES
The Rams made a curious move Monday when they claimed Brandon Allen off waivers from Jacksonville. Allen, 24, becomes the Rams’ third quarterback, behind Jared Goff (22) and Sean Mannion (25).
The Rams released quarterback Dan Orlovsky on Saturday but left open the possibility of bringing back the veteran next week, with a reduced financial obligation. The Rams seem prepared to go forward with Allen, a 2016 sixth-round draft pick who had competed to be the Jaguars’ starter in training camp. Rams quarterbacks coach Greg Olson was Allen’s offensive coordinator in Jacksonville last season
Cornerback Kevin Peterson was waived to make room for Allen, and the Rams also released receiver Nelson Spruce, after an injury settlement, and signed defensive lineman Louis Trinca-Pasat to complete their 10-player practice squad.
