Can’t imagine being down on Tavon right now. Every #Rams offensive piece is thriving under new leadership. But the fastest, shiftiest…won’t?McVay reveals O.C. LaFleur called plays in the 2nd half [of Oakland game], including the game-winning TD drive. “We’re very fortunate to have him.” #Rams
That game by Blake Countess last night in Oakland (graded 86.3 by @PFF) didn’t come out of nowhere. He was a steady presence in camp. #Rams
Local scout for a team on #Rams early-season schedule says to us in the elevator: “I can’t believe what you’ve done with that offense.”

Mark Barron will begin the season without playing in any games. So will Austin and Donald. Quinn & Webster may, too.Rams CB Trumaine Johnson, on Aaron Donald still holding out: “We’d love to have him here, but at the same time, I know what he’s going through. I’ve been through it. It’s a business at the end of the day. He’s a very valuable player. Hopefully he gets what he’s asking for.”

Asked about Jared Goff, Watkins says, “Both of us are young. That’s a good part. We can both grow from each other.”Watkins took the blame for a drop on Saturday. “Jared through a great ball. I just dropped it. That’s just football.” Said he was rusty.
Watkins liked how things looked on Sat: “Offense and the defense played well. The offense went right down the field… Jared playing well.”
Sounds like Mark Barron won’t see the field before Indy. “Nothing set in stone, but that’s the direction that we’re leaning.”
Quinn was going to practice today and got a charley horse after a collision with Michael Brockers during a walkthru, so he didn’t practice.
“I don’t think it’s something that’s going to set him back” — McVay on Quinn\

It’s OK to be skeptical of McVay, but to say he got hired to be Goff’s buddy is bonkers. Nobody who has spent time around Rams thinks that.Ryan Kartje @Ryan_Kartje
One guy who I’ve consistently noticed during #Rams camp/preseason: Tanzel Smart. Very disruptive for a rookie defensive tackle.Gary Klein@LATimesklein

Goff says Sammy Watkins has picked up the offense faster than expected. Woods just said the coaches have spent a lot of time with him 1 on 1“We expect to play like that. We expect to move the ball.” – Jared Goff on Saturday’s strong performance
Talking about Saturday, McVay mentions “base plays” and “core coverages.” Just a reminder of how much things will change come Sept. 10.
McVay expects RB Lance Dunbar to start the season “on the PUP.”
Robert Woods just called the Rams “a stacked offense.” Things are changing. Fast.

Jared Goff raved about the first-team offensive line, said it “no doubt” felt different: “They’ve done a great job, just as a whole. They’ve really worked together; they’re starting to jell. I think you saw that last Saturday. The Oakland defensive line is no slouch. They have some dudes over there. They did a great job keeping them away and giving me a good pocket. It wasn’t just throw it and get hit. It was clean, the whole time.”

Chargers Lynn on “fight for LA” with Rams. “Maybe it’s between the marketing departments”Ryan Kartje@Ryan_Kartje
Jared Goff was asked about chemistry with his new receivers. He said it was “really quick” with Cooper Kupp. Almost immediately clicked. -
