I can remember, not long ago, the Rams continually passing on taking a running back to help support Steven Jackson. When Jackson was down, we had the likes of Kenneth Darby, Carnell Williams, Jerious Norwood, Chris Ogbonnaya, Brian Leonard, Travis Minor…need I go further? Well…those days are over. Now, we have a stable. Gurley, Mason, Cunningham and dare I say Pead (if he makes the team), will provide a solid 1-2-3 punch protecting us against injury issues and wear and tear. Aside from the defensive line, this is the deepest group on the team.

I have to say, I was happy we took Gurley in round 1. I’m a person who wants a guy who either has the ball in his hand, covers #1 WR’s or sacks the QB in the top 10. Gurley has the potential to be a Peterson. I’m especially big on him because he wasn’t a one year wonder. This guy was a stud for multiple years in college playing in the SEC. Mason provides, not only a guy who can share the load, but can take over the load for a stretch of time. If he can take the banging, he’s easily a guy who can deliver 1,000 yards, although Gurley’s presence will likely prevent that from occurring.
