“A full 23 voters didn’t put Turner in the Top 3, which is hard to understand after Turner led all rookies with 9.0 sacks, and did it from the interior defensive line.” https://twitter.com/profootballtalk/status/1755789540915294711

(On the silver linings side, 14 first place votes for a late third/rounder playing on the iDL who yes, plays in a big market, but not on a team that played many prime time games or was on the media circuit as a darling in much of 2023 bc “tanking”, hey that’s something!)

    third-rounder, curse my clunky thumbs

Here’s my take on Puka & Kobie getting snubbed – A QB will ALWAYS win OROY over any other position if he does what Stroud did. Puka never had a chance. Kobie got robbed, plain & simple. I doubt they’re too bothered but I hope they use this as extra fuel to keep getting better.

The NFL media voting on these awards need some accountability. Half of them left Kobie Turner completely off of their ballot. That is a problem. Either cover the league as a whole or don’t…and if you do, know the league.
    .
In 2020, Justin Jefferson lost OROY to Justin Herbert after Herbert set the rookie passing TDs record. Jefferson still got NINE first place votes. Again, Puka Nacua set two major rookie receiving records and got one first-place vote for each record he broke.

Just to be clear I’m completely okay with Puka and Kobie not getting Rookie of the Year votes. Not that I didn’t think they deserved it but the politics weren’t in their favor. Torry Holt got completely robbed. The HOF voting needs to be more transparent. It’s a joke right now

Joe Flacco was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year over Damar Hamlin. Which only goes to show that, in pro football, returning to play after standing at the brink of death is less impressive than leading the Cleveland #Browns to the playoffs.

Were Puka and Turner robbed of awards? A case can be made for sure. But lets look at some positives

We got 2 guys in rounds 3 and 5 that were close to winning the award vs guys that went #2 and #3 overall. That is rare! Also we are not paying nearly as much for these guys as HOU will have to pay for top picks so we have more cap with the same level of player.

Puka set records, people remember records more than who won OROY. His numbers will be hard to top for a year 1 WR and the yards record took 60 years to beat out.

Turner was looked at as a depth piece but just finished with 9 sacks , as a DT! Only 26 DTS have had more as a rookie that is insane! This is something “1st” rounders would be expected to do and a ton DO NOT

Holt will continue to be robbed. I feel people view him as the #2 WR with Bruce taking all the #1 DBS and playing in that prolific offense is why he had the stats he did, do I agree? HELL NO but what else could it be?

Overall we have seen our guys win awards and we have seen our guys get robbed (a lot) but the focus is always to win it all. Lets reload this offseason and smash the draft again

if there was such a thing as comeback player during a season award he would have won it hands down – many seem to forget just how bad / ineffective stafford was through the first 8 games, during the 3-5 start, it was more of 2022… then he caught absolute fire.
