I was wondering what the board thinks of Joyner. I will offer my opinion.

I don’t like the pick. Last year, when they were trying to draft Joyner, Fisher alluded to the fact that he would be “Bobby Wagner” mad. That gave me the impression that we would be getting an impressive player. What I see is a player that seems to be too short to play at a high level in the NFL. He doesn’t seem to be able to play any other position except the slot.
So now we have a situation next year, where two cornerbacks will likely be gone, and Joyner is not capable of stepping up into their roles. He was a Finnegan replacement, and that’s it. I feel like we should have at the very least, gotten a well rounded cornerback with good height and speed. But what bothers me MORE is that we didn’t get an offensive lineman in that slot. We might not be in the O-line hell that we are in today had Snisher done that.
Eh, I dont’ know details about who was available and all that stuff. So maybe I’m just overreacting. What do y’all think?

I’m still in a wait and see mood on Joyner.

He had problems last year and certainly didn’t give them what they would have liked from a second round pick.

It does look like Gaines is one starter in waiting, if not this year at the CB spot.

I wrote a whole post and it got lost when I hit submit.

Basically, yeah, he needs to be better to justify that pick. But, it’s been one (injury riddled) year, so I too will wait and see.

Well that’s too bad, b/c I like reading your posts.

To me, even if he plays well, he’s a second round role player. Why not think about Davin Joseph’s replacement at this slot.

I know, I know, I have hindvision and all that.

When that happens keep hitting the back button till you find it.

The board has been a little glitchy today. I said something to RM.

Yeah, I think they felt fine at O-line last year at that point. I’d rather them continue to go after players rather than positions, myself. Otherwise, you end up drafting guys like Jimmy Kennedy and Alex Barron.

I think at the least Joyner showed that he has potential as a good slot player. If Gaines works out at CB, too, you’re better off as a team with them on your roster. The draft is always hit or miss. It’s the overall picture that I try to look at, and overall this group is doing pretty well. I mean, Donald. Who can argue with that player, even if there were people wondering whether they should have drafted that position.

i see, so you are saying their probably wasn’t an offensive lineman with a second round grade at that point. I guess i can buy that. I guess they didn’t realize they were going to let would let 3 or 4 guys go this year.
