znModeratorRams chat with Jim Thomas
http://sports.live.stltoday.com/Event/Rams_chat_with_Jim_Thomas_43645594ebd2?Page=3
Thanks for your time, Jim. Do we have enough cap space to resign the players we want to keep this off-season? Do you think players who are up for a new contract would prefer to leave for a team with a recent winning trend?
by Safety Blitz 2:08 PMThe Rams have about $7.5 million available under this year’s cap, and projections are for good cap space in 2016 as well. So I certainly think they can re-sign many of the pending free agents on this year’s roster. Obviously it takes two to make a deal. Some players may want to take their chances on the market _ it looks like that’s what Janoris Jenkins wants to do for example.
by jthomas 2:12 PMWhat’s the inside scoop on the meeting between the Gov. and S.K. I would think (hopefully) it would be a good sign. Thanks Jim!
by moramfan 2:12 PMBelieve me, if I had any inside scoop, it would be in print already. I don’t know how to read it. But I do think the league has, uh, encouraged Kroenke to talk to Nixon.
by jthomas 2:13 PMHow big of mistake was signing Foles extension before the season?
by Don 2:13 PMWell, it makes it difficult to discard the contract if the Rams want to make a change after this season, that’s for sure. Again, I don’t know why you would extend a guy before even seeing him throw even a preseason pass.
by jthomas 2:15 PMJim – Saw Greco starting for Cleveland last night. Did the Rams give up on him a bit early?
by McGarrett 2:15 PMI don’t know if you’d call it giving up on him too early _ he was with the team for three years. They just never let him play.
by jthomas 2:17 PMI’ll start with the weekly question: Have your odds changed regarding the move/no move? Especially in light of the meeting yesterday?
by Ramsfan83 2:17 PMGlad you asked. Not so much based on the meeting, but I’m nudging it up a percentage point _ to 47-53 Rams stay.
by jthomas 2:17 PMHi Jim, do you think Stan only met with Nixon and not Peacock because he wants to build his own stadium on his 200 acres in Maryland Heights? My read on Stan is he likes to be in charge. He wants to own his own stadium.
by Annoying Barry 2:18 PMI’m not sure why Peacock was in the building yesterday. I find it hard to believe he was there coincidentally. Maybe he was there just in case Kroenke had some questions that Nixon couldn’t answer.
by jthomas 2:20 PMJim-This team actually has talent in spots but their discipline is what is killing them.
the defense is still pretty good but cant get off the field. the o-line is young, inexperienced and now banged up. There is hope. They are closer then people think…if they had a new head coach.
by LeRoy Irvin 2:20 PMI think the Rams have good enough talent to win with in most places, particularly on defense. I know there are some people around the league who feel they could win a lot of games with this group.
by jthomas 2:21 PMDo you believe the buying of the land in Maryland Heights has any true implications? Possible he builds his own stadium there? Don’t know why he’d pass up having a 1/4 paid publicly.
by Brad 2:21 PMI was told from the start that the Maryland Heights purchase was strictly another land deal, that it had nothing to do with a stadium.
by jthomas 2:22 PMIf the Rams are still in STL next year, do you think Fisher will be the head coach?
by Rams 2:22 PMIf the team continues to lose, and it’s difficult right now to see them winning more than another game or two max _ I think it might be difficult for FIsher to survive under normal circumstances. For the sake of argument, let’s just say the team goes 1-4 down the stretch to finish 5-11. That would mean four consecutive losing seasons, a worse record in each of Fisher’s four seasons with the team (from 7-8-1, to 7-9, to 6-10, to 5-11), and nine losses in the final 10 games of 2015. How could you possibly justify keeping the coach under those circumstances? But this obviously isn’t a normal situation. Does Kroenke really want Fisher to guide the team through the transition of a possible move? Would Kroenke want to avoid having to eat $7 million for the final year of Fisher’s contract? Those are the two big questions and only Kroenke knows the answer. .
by jthomas 2:28 PMHow much better would this team be if we drafted Blake Bortles instead of Greg Robinson?
by Chris in Austin 2:28 PMI’ve watched Bortles a little this season, and he certainly has some potential. But as ugly as it looks right now, I’m not ready to give up on Robinson yet.
by jthomas 2:29 PMIf the NFL is serious about concussions and not just paying lip service to the issue, Why didn’t they do anything in regards to the Case Keenum situation?
by Studebaker 2:29 PMWhat would you have them do? Fines? Suspensions? Firing the press box observer? The circumstances weren’t as obvious as they appeared on television replay _ in slow motion. I think the simplest answer is to give the press box trainer more power. Call the medical timeout, and get the quarterback over to the neutral sideline doctor to take a look at the player. The whole idea of this is to take the decision-making on checking out the player out of the hands of the teams involved, isn’t it?
by jthomas 2:32 PMBengals offense is good but Rams defense isn’t that bad. I know they are saying all the right things but it looks like they don’t have the effort anymore. Jeff Fisher comments notwithstanding.
by Uncle Leo 2:32 PMI think it’s the easiest thing in the world to question is the effort when things don’t go well. And 95 times out of 100 that assumption is dead wrong. Nothing personal but it’s kind of a knee-jerk fan reaction. Did the Rams seem as passionate and intense as ever at Paul Brown Stadium? No. But it’s one thing to say that and another thing to say they’ve quit on the coach.
by jthomas 2:35 PMHow much playing time has Nick Fairley had?
by big tuna 2:38 PMHIs playing time has gone up over the past five games. He was playing less than 1/4th of the defensive snaps in games 1 thru 4, then moved up to about 33 percent in games 5-6. But starting with the San Francisco game, he has been playing about 50 percent of the snaps.
by jthomas 2:44 PMJim – What are the 5 biggest mistakes Jeff Fisher has made during his tenure?
by Andy 2:44 PMWell, off the top of my head I don’t know if I can give you 5 right away. But going totally young on the offensive line would have to be one; and trading for Foles would have to be two (at least not with bona fide competition for the No. 1 QB spot on the roster. And I guess signing Foles to an extension before he’d even thrown a preseason pass would be 3.
by jthomas 2:46 PMRams QB of the future: a.) on current roster b.) on another NFL teams roster c.) in college. Name?
by @ramsfan852 2:46 PMIt could be Mannion. Other than that, I’ve got nothing for you.
by jthomas 2:47 PMMy,my,my Jim where do we go from here? Just finished watching Marshall again as I do every year and cannot get away from the fact it took them 20 seasons to get back to winning. Jim I don’t have 20 years left for the Rams to get this right! I have been on the bus from 1956, and next season will be 60 for me. Must be some bad juju somewhere that this team cannot seem to get it all together. Always seems to be a missing something to get them over the .500 hump. Heck I remember when we held the Seahawks to 11 total yards for the whole game. Those were the days. Give me some hope!
by SoCalWalt 2:47 PMChristmas is coming.
by jthomas 2:47 PMDo they still play the blues in St. Louis When football season rolls around
When the snow melts away, Do the Rams still play In the Edward Jones burial ground
When I was a boy they were my pride and joy But now they only bring fatigue
To the home of the brave The land of the free
And the doormat of the National Football League
Hope all enjoy thisAdapted from a dying cubs fans last request by steve goodman
by m. slay 2:48 PMWow. Poetry _ I guess that’s what you’d call it _ on the Rams chat.
by jthomas 2:48 PMJim, I know it was mop up time but the kid looked good Sunday, nice zip on the ball. If ( when ) we get blown out in the first half will fish give him a shot in the second half?
by ramswinbig30 2:49 PMMannion does have, I believe, the strongest arm among the quarterbacks. And he did get the ball out quick. But keep in mind, the Bengals were playing soft coverage by then. With the big lead they just wanted to keep the ball in front, prevent the big play, and keep the clock running.
by jthomas 2:50 PMWhat would it take for you to predict 10 wins next season?
by Chris in Austin 2:50 PMI can’t see myself predicting 10 wins for the Rams for a long time.
by jthomas 2:51 PMIs it to early to ask draft questions?
by Ben S. 2:51 PMYes. But it’s getting less early.
by jthomas 2:51 PMDerek Carr looks like a legit NFL QB; what are the odds he plays for St Louis in the future?
by R Lisch 2:51 PMWhy would Oakland let him go?
by jthomas 2:51 PMWith Kronke talking to Nixon now, do you see this as positive news for STL? When will the aldermen vote on the financing?
by Rams 2:51 PMDon’t know if it’s positive or negative. I think the aldermen are supposed to vote sometime this month.
by jthomas 2:52 PMJim,
Promising news yesterday about the meet between Stan and Nixon! Gives us a little hope. My question is about Brian Quick. What do you attribute to his demise if he is let go at the end of the year? I hear he does well at practice, is it as simple as he cannot translate it to the field? Could it be that because of his injury he isn’t as strong to the ball or maybe the lack of consistent QB play? Some think he is an absolute bust, while I can’t seem to shake the feeling we will regret letting him go next year. If he catches on with a better QB and system overall, I believe he will shine.
Thanks.
by SemoRam3 2:52 PMEven with the severe shoulder injury, I think we all expected more out of him this season, don’t you agree? And if you’re the Rams, with his contract set to expire after this season, do you think it makes sense to offer him a contract? Even if the answer’s yes, you certainly wouldn’t want to offer him much. He has been on the field a fair amount over the last month and a half, and simply hasn’t made much happen. Has been unable to hang onto some catchable balls. Sure, better QB play and blocking would help, but Quick simply hasn’t made many plays.
by jthomas 2:56 PMG Robinson is not a let tackle. why not line up w/saffold at LT, Rob at LG, find a new center and have Brown and Havenstein on the right side next year? seems like a much better lineup…not perfect but GRob certainly appears to be not a tackle. this would allow the rams to use their draft picks on QB, which increasingly looks plausible in the 1st round as they keep getting a higher position, then both 2nd round picks on offensive talent like a WR and a TE, if available? drafting another LT seems like a lost cause with this team, for whatever reason they can’t get it right. also, do you think Long will have to take a pay cut to stay? Cook and Britt also likely will be cut for more cap space next year. If players are available they could load up…..they are not that far, just some offense, thanks.
by Dan 2:57 PMWhat you’re saying about the O-line makes some sense, but what makes you think Saffold can stay healthy at LT? Not sure what the Rams do with Long, Cook, and Britt _ especially the first two.
by jthomas 2:58 PMHow would you compare the state of the team now versus when Sneed/Fisher arrived? Frankly, I don’t see much progress.
by Apple Barry Crunch 2:58 PMI don’t think there’s any doubt about this being the most talented Rams roster in their four years here. Obviously, the progress isn’t there in terms of the record. But it’s tough to win in this league without at least decent quarterback play.
by jthomas 3:00 PMShould Rams consider drafting a quarterback in the first round of the 2016 draft?
by RAMFAN68 3:00 PMAt this point, I sure wouldn’t rule it out.
by jthomas 3:00 PMIs there a remote chance SK could opt to build his own stadium in the county on land purchased? If they are forced to stay of course.
by Don 3:00 PMDon’t think so.
by jthomas 3:01 PMThere has been much discussion about Greg Robinson’s troubles at OLT. Would he be a better fit at LG in 2016 and beyond?
by Craig 3:01 PMGiven his ongoing struggle, it does make you wonder.
by jthomas 3:01 PMJim, You’ve watched Foles practice. Does he miss open receivers during practice or just when it matters?
by Andy 3:02 PMYeah, he misses some receivers during practice.
by jthomas 3:02 PMMaybe they gave up on Austin Davis too early too…huh? He’d have to be better than what Rams currently have at QB.
by Apple Barry Crunch 3:02 PMI didn’t watch any of that Browns-Ravens game, but I guess Davis did pretty well during his stint. The most surprising thing to me about Davis this past offseason in St. Louis was that it was never really a competition with Keenum. It’s as if Fisher’s mind was made up as soon as Keenum was back on board.
by jthomas 3:05 PMYippee!!! The needle is finally moving.
by Apple Barry Crunch 3:05 PMEver so slightly.
by jthomas 3:05 PMJT: I’m glad that I was a Denver fan before I moved to St. Louis as a kid, and thus the Rams will only ever be a secondary interest to my Broncos. That said, I’d like to see the Rams do well, but what on earth is it going to take? Why can’t they turn it around? Why do they seem to fail year after year in the draft? This is multiple regimes now. I tend to locate the common denominator in perennial losing franchises in ownership (Redskins, Raiders, 76ers, Marlins, etc.). Seems like this is the one thing teams can’t overcome. How much do you put on Kroenke? What other factors are at play? Thanks!
by DCG 3:06 PMAbsentee ownership is never a good thing. The players, coaches, and other employees need to know that what they’re doing is important. When a GM candidate or head-coaching candidate comes in, he needs to meet the owner eye-to-eye. I know of at least one GM candidate back I 2012, who was turned off that he met only Kevin Demoff and not the owner. (He ended up going elsewhere.) Beyond that, it’s hard to say. It’s all about the hires. I thought Spags was a good hire. (I was wrong.) I thought Fisher was a good hire. (Could be wrong there, too.)
by jthomas 3:10 PMWins and losses aside how do you think the Rams coaches have done with the development of talent on their offensive side of the ball ?
by Eric 3:10 PMI don’t blame Boudreau for what’s happening on the offensive line. I mean, what do you expect with a meeting room full of rookies. I’m not as down on the WRs and TEs as many of you are. I do wonder if the WRs could’ve bee brought along more quickly. And you have a first-time NFL offensive coordinator and a first-time NFL QBs coach, That’s not necessarily a good thing.
by jthomas 3:14 PMJeff seemed to be willing to experiment with a more pass-oriented approach a couple seasons ago but jettisoned it quickly. Has he ever trusted an OC to take over the offense since he himself is clearly not neing successful as an offensive strategist? He doesn’t show any signs of self-doubt. In the press conference he seemed to insinuate that run-blocking is the major reason for his offensive woes? Has he ever empowered and delegated to his OC? Is it true that many offensive coordinators didn’t want to work in Fisher’s program?
by Safety Blitz 3:14 PMI don’t think Fisher is a meddler on offense, unless things are going wrong _ as they obviously are now. But it is his overall philosophy that’s in place, and it’s a conservative philosophy.
by jthomas 3:16 PMJim what is the relationship like between Stan and Fisher? Do you think they can continue to co-exist even if we bolt to LA?
by steve 3:16 PMI think they have a good relationship. It’s not like Fisher sees Kroenke a lot though.
by jthomas 3:17 PMDoes your stay percentage go up if the Aldermen approve the funding for the stadium?
by NJMizzoufan 3:17 PMWhat do you think?
by jthomas 3:17 PMJIM, WTF – you think you can coach this team any beteer?
by jeff 3:17 PMIt sure got bleak quickly. All in 4 weeks’ time.
by jthomas 3:17 PMAside from our offensive woes, is it time to cut ties with CL, JL, JJ….? None of them making any kind of impact. How could Jan Jenkins leave AJ Green uncovered? Unfathomable!
by Tuco 3:18 PMOn that Jenkins play, why would you jump the underneath route when there’s no help behind you? It is unfathomable that plays like that would still be happening 4 years into a program. We’ll have to wait and see on Long and Laurinaitis.
by jthomas 3:20 PMCan you explain the role of the GM vs the coach when it comes to draft decisions and other non-game day tasks. For example, I know its always the head coach and scouts in the “war room” on draft day. Does that mean the coach is making all the decisions? If so, what exactly is the role of the GM in the NFL? …It seems like the coach has a lot more autonomy in the NFL than in other sports like MLB or NHL where the coach has almost no input on the draft.
by Eli 3:20 PMIt varies from team to team in the NFL. In some organizations, the GM has more say over the draft picks. In some less. Certainly at Rams Park, Fisher has the say. So the GM, finds out the type of players a coach likes or wants, he scouts and looks for and evaluates those types of players. The GM, scouting department, and coaches then talk about all the prospects leading up to the draft. By draft day, any arguments should’ve already taken place, and there should be a clear direction on which way to go.
by jthomas 3:23 PMI’m mad….and I’m not gonna take it anymore…I’ve been a fan since 1976. Will we reach the playoffs before my death JT? I’m in good health, but not sure if I have 30 more years to wait…..
by LA Champ 3:23 PMAt this point, I can make no guarantees.
by jthomas 3:24 PMJim,
I know there is a lot of “Fisher/Snead must go” sentiment these days (people saying the team is horrible and hopeless). My opinion is Fisher/Snead did a good job rebuilding this roster considering what they inherited. There is a lot of talent on this team. However, I think Fisher has reached his Zenith as far as the COACHING of this team goes. He just does not seem to have the ability to take this team to the next level. With that said, I think we should just thank Fisher/Snead for their contributions and effort and move on to the next candidate(s) to run this organization. It’s not a sin to have tried your best but fail.
by Rachael Wayne 3:24 PMThanks for playing. . . .
by jthomas 3:24 PMArians strongly dislikes the Rams, or more accurately, Jeff Fisher. If we lay an egg again this week I think we will gladly run up 50+ points if he could. Agree?
by Uncle Leo 3:25 PMLet’s put it this way, I doubt we’ll see the backup quarterback in handing off the football at the end if it’s a lopsided game.
by jthomas 3:25 PMDoes Fisher last this long under any other owner?
by NJMizzoufan 3:26 PMHard to imagine.
by jthomas 3:26 PMDo you agree this offseason will consist of an offense heavy draft and a change of the offensive system/gameplan? Will Fish budge at all? Meaning hand the offense over to someone a little more proven in that area.
by SemoRam3 3:26 PMOffense certainly looks like the priority, but keep in mind, you have 3 of your 4 starters in the secondary with contracts about to expire, not to mention Mark Barron, not to mention both of your backup defensive ends. I don’t think Fisher will budge unless someone makes him budge. (See: Vermeil Rams, ’98-99 offseason).
by jthomas 3:28 PMAny chance we DON’T draft a center?
by LA Champ 3:28 PMYes. Rams do like Rhaney.
by jthomas 3:28 PMFoles looked like a gamer and upgrade at QB in September. What do you think happened?
by bfulton 3:29 PMWish I had the answer. He hasn’t looked the same to me since the Green Bay game.
by jthomas 3:29 PMQuestioning the players’ effort is unfair and just plain wrong. Of course they don’t want to be this bad. Blaming their effort is like blaming a misbehaving dog instead of its owner or trainer.
Oh yeah, that reminds me. Hey Stan/Fish: Your dog crapped on the floor. Again.
by wiley 3:29 PMSomething like that.
by jthomas 3:29 PMWho might start at running back for the cardinals this weekend? I hope they don’t promote someone from their practice squad who then runs for a bunch of yards. That’s happened to us a couple times before…
by Dave 3:33 PMUnless the Cardinals make some kind of move, looks like it would be David Johnson, the rookie from Northern Iowa.
by jthomas 3:34 PMJT, Jim Fisher may assert he’s not concerned with job security at his presser. But to me, that comment tells me frustration’s settled in and with the weighted schedule he faces to the end, he knows from a public relations standpoint he’s likely a goner with little to show for his 4 year stretch. Just my humble opinion.
by MJ 3:34 PMWe’ll know soon enough.
by jthomas 3:35 PMThanks again, Jim. Most experts think a decision about the relocation won’t be announced till after the Superbowl, early February? What’s your take?
by Safety Blitz 3:35 PMI think something may come out of this week’s owners meetings in Dallas on a relocation timetable. Our David Hunn is on the scene.
by jthomas 3:36 PMHey Jim, Rams fan from the UK here. Two things – will you be coming to over here to cover the Rams next year? If so, allow me to buy you a beer or two 😉
Second, has the time come for wholesale coaching changes? Leaving aside whether Fisher’s contract and / or relocation knowledge makes it unlikely to happen, would YOU pull the trigger and get rid? If so, would you include the lovely locked Les Snead in that?
Thanks for your time.
by The Logan 3:36 PMI would assume I’d be in the UK with the Rams if the Rams are in St. Louis. As for Fisher and Snead, it would be hard to justify bringing both back with a fourth consecutive losing season, don’t you think. I’ll just leave it at that.
by jthomas 3:38 PMLast year when the Rams were out of the playoff hunt they didn’t permit players like Tim Barnes to get stating opportunities. If the Rams lose to the Cardinals what players would you like to see get more playing time for evaluation and experience. Also are all of the free agents unrestricted free agents or are some restricted.
by ramsfan 3:38 PMI’m not a big believer in holding preseason games in December. I say play the guys who give you the best chance to win.
by jthomas 3:39 PMWhat is the difference between a normal time out and a 30 second time out and why?
by Bob 3:44 PMInteresting question. Timeouts usually are 2 minutes in length. But based on the number of TV commercials taken it can be reduced to 30 seconds. Check out this link for more information: static.nfl.com
by jthomas 3:45 PMWhich is also what they said about Inglewood initially I believe.
(Re: Maryland Heights just being a land deal)
by Eli 3:45 PMOK, you got me on that one.
by jthomas 3:45 PMAbsent injuries to Saffold, Brown, Quinn, Long and Ogletree, I don’t think this team loses four straight. Sure, Fisher hasn’t fixed the QB situation but since there aren’t enough QB’s to go around in a 32 team league, that’s as much luck as coaching talent. Do you think the team should cut him loose?
by bfulton 3:45 PMProbably not. But teams go through injuries all the time. The Rams lost to a Baltimore team, for example, that had something like 17 players on IR.
by jthomas 3:46 PMI presume with the firing of Mark Richt at UGA, Schottenheimer is now ready to return to save the day in STL.
by Craig 3:46 PMThere’s a thought. 🙂
by jthomas 3:46 PMDo you know how many former Rams are starting for other NFL teams? It seems like there are quite a few, especially on the offensive side of the line.
by Steverino 3:47 PMDon’t have the number off the top of my head. Don’t think there’s a lot.
by jthomas 3:48 PMIF the Rams do move to LA next year, where would they play while their stadium is being built?
by Dave 3:48 PMLooks like it would be the L.A. Coliseum.
by jthomas 3:48 PMJim – now that the season is half over, what do you think of the new PAT placement? Has it accomplished what it was supposed to?
by Andy 3:48 PMI like it. It puts a lot more pressure on the kickers, though. It’s not quite an automatic point any more.
by jthomas 3:49 PMJim, out of market so I see very few games. Have any of the young linemen shown potential. I agreed with going o-line heavy in the draft. On the QB with Foles’ contract, Mannion a 3rd round pick waiting, can they afford a first or second round pick on another QB?
by Warner to Bruce! 3:49 PMYeah, I think almost all of the drafted O-linemen have potential. The issue is not having any veterans mixed into the lineup with them. As for drafting a QB in the 1st_ or 2nd-rounds, 1st-round draft picks are a lot cheaper than they used to be before the new CBA.
by jthomas 3:50 PMI asked you a few weeks ago if the Rams don’t make the playoffs this year, but they do next season under Fisher does he get a contract extension. Any new feelings on the matter?
by Dwayne 3:51 PMI can’t remember what I answered last time _ or if I even answered that question. It doesn’t ring a bell. But if the 2016 Rams reach the playoffs under Fisher, I think he most certainly would get an extension.
by jthomas 3:52 PMAny bathroom shenanigans I should be aware of after Mr. Kroenke’s visit to Ram’s Park?
by Mr. Roto-Rooter 3:52 PMThe only thing I can report on that is that I full access yesterday to the media room restroom.
by jthomas 3:53 PMFisher can spin this any way he wants but these are his players, his coaches, and his system. This is on his shoulders. A former defensive back as an off coordinator the tv analyst were laughing at that. So why doesn’t he change something, anything is he that bull headed?
by Duane Barrett 3:53 PMCignetti has had lots of experience in college as an offensive coordinator.
by jthomas 3:54 PMAt this point, do you think the major difficulty of the Ram’s horrid 32nd level offense is the inferior offensive line play or lack of skill players/creativity to do anything other than run Gurly with defenses keying in?
by MJ 3:54 PMI’d say mainly combination of line play, quarterback play, and I think you’ve got to throw in play-calling/scheme at this point. And by not including receivers by no means am I saying that’s the greatest group ever assembled. I’m just saying I don’t think they’re as much of the problem as some others do.
by jthomas 3:56 PMOf the Rams first round picks since 2012, how many do you think they regret?
by Kevan 3:56 PMWell, probably not many. Here’s the group we’re talking about: Brockers, Austin, Ogletree, Robinson, Donald, Gurley. Other than Robinson at this point _ and I’m far from ready to put the bust label on him _ it looks like a pretty good group, don’t you think?
by jthomas 3:58 PMAny more detail on what led to the shooting of Steadman Bailey or the extent of his injuries?
by TimJim 3:58 PMHave not heard anything more on the crime circumstances. But you may have seen from Fisher’s Monday press conference that Bailey had 2 wounds to the head, one bullet had to be removed.
by jthomas 3:58 PMMaybe I’m just being pessimistic, but could that meeting between Stan and Nixon could just be to satisfy the relocation guidelines? Is that what you meant by the league encouraging Stan?
by Trevor 4:00 PMIn Kroenke’s mind it could be just that. But does one meeting really satisfy relocation guidelines to exhaust all possibilities to get a stadium situation resolved? I doubt it. I think the league encouraged Kroenke to talk with Nixon because it wants him to listen to what the task force has to say and at least think about the plan.
by jthomas 4:03 PMHey Jim, in the past when asked how you thought Greg Robinson was doing and will do in the future you consistently answered, “He’s been ok” and “I think he’ll be ok”. Still feel that way? Because he is seriously one of the worst tackles I’ve seen play in the NFL and I’ve been watching for about 30 years.
by jay 4:03 PMAgain, even in this rough stretch, I’m not ready to give up on the guy.
by jthomas 4:03 PMTo think what if Quinn and TJ both played against Minnesota?
by Dwayne 4:03 PMCould’ve made a difference no doubt.
by jthomas 4:04 PMWas Fisher cussing at YOU directly JT? Did you look him in his eyes? Like a Holm vs Rousey stare down? Are you scared of Fish? Seriously?
by LA Champ 4:04 PMI didn’t ask the question that set him off Sunday.
by jthomas 4:04 PMFisher says it’s not a lack of effort, it’s a lack of executions. I agree with him, what the Rams need is executions. I suggest the Sunday after the season ends, at the Dome. Sell tickets! It should be the first sellout of the year. I recommend hangings, if it is firing squads the downrange seats might be hard to sell. Start with the practice squad, then the special teams, then the defense, the offense, the quarterbacks, the assistant coaches, head coach, and front office. For the grand finale, string up the owner. At last, a Sunday where we would feel we were making progress.
by George M. 4:05 PMSo you’re looking for a fully functional, slightly used guillotine, are you?
by jthomas 4:06 PMIn your opinion has SK been a bad owner?
by Don 4:06 PMAbsentee owners usually aren’t a good thing.
by jthomas 4:06 PMJim, so was that you that ticked off Fisher on Sunday?
by STLRamMan 4:06 PMNo.
by jthomas 4:06 PMJim have I kicked my last FG for the Rams?
by Greg the Leg 4:07 PMYou will kick more.
by jthomas 4:07 PMHow many winning seasons have the Rams had in the 20 seasons they have been in St louis?
by Ramsey 4:07 PM1999, 2000, 2001, and 2003. As Mike Bush used to say: End highlight reel.
by jthomas 4:08 PMWhat happened to Foles? Is he hurt? I am fine with an average quarterback on this team, but he is awful. No zip on the ball and looks lost out there.
by TC 4:08 PMHe says he’s fine physically.
by jthomas 4:08 PMJust did my first Google search on “NFL mock draft 2016”. Hope springs eternal.
by Apple Barry Crunch 4:09 PMAttaboy. Who are the Rams taking?
by jthomas 4:09 PMWill Quinn be back this year? He makes a difference!
by Steverino 4:09 PMThink so.
by jthomas 4:09 PMWho really makes the personnel decisions? Fisher or Snead? As in who says, we are drafting Greg Robinson 2nd overall or Brian Quick 33rd overall?
by Garrett 4:10 PMFisher.
by jthomas 4:10 PMOther than the obvious new owner, coach and gm what is the Ram most obvious need? I feel sorry for Todd Gurley
by Duane Barrett 4:10 PMMight be QB.
by jthomas 4:10 PMm slay – always nice to be reminded of Steve Goodman.
Jim – Should a team pick a quarterback each year in the draft until they get it right and with the way the NFL generates so many damaged / injured players esp. QBs should a team keep picking until they have 2 acceptable QBs?
by poiuyt 4:11 PMWell, I don’t think you stop until you get it right, that’s for sure.
by jthomas 4:11 PMHow much does Kronke have to do with the day to day operations of the Rams?
by scrappylucky 4:12 PMPretty much nothing. It has always been his managerial style to hire people and let them do their jobs.
by jthomas 4:13 PMWhat will it take for the owners to prevent Stan from moving away from us?
by Stay in STL 4:14 PMDon’t mean to sound flippant, but nine votes.
by jthomas 4:14 PMHey Jim I can still throw the rock downfield better than those losers they’ve got now. Have Fish give me a call.
by Roman Gabriel 4:14 PMCan you bring Kurt Warner with you?
by jthomas 4:15 PMOnly as a back up.
by Roman Gabriel 4:19 PMOK
