Most voters are shallow. We know that because we everyday talk and socialize with them. Few of us sit around in Haight Ashbury coffee houses smoking weed, listening to poets, and talk about revolution. We talk to neighbors and friends and family. We have BBQs and we watch sports. The 60s are gone ! What we do know is that “image” is important to us. Not the candidates “depth” or knowledge but his “image”. Because of tv we want the guy who “projects” better than the other. Kennedy didn’t have Nixon’s command of the facts but he had the image of someone who “knew better’. Forgetting about policies and views -which I highly recommend- the only candidate the democrats had and the one I did not think was good enough for me to support was Beto ” O’Rourke. Young, bright handsome, energetic, charismatic, etc. He could have appealed to the “apolitical” voters. And whether we like it or not Trump appeals to the “apolitical” voter. I only wish I could have seen that before.

Image? help me understand. Pretty Boy Beto couldn’t beat Grandpa Munster clone Ted Cruz for Texas Senate……

Was Beto even in the race when Amy K, Mayor Pete, Lizzy Warden, sold out for Joe? Bernie was kicking everyone’s ass in the primary when a back door deal was made to rally behind Joe and ditch Bernie.

If any image needs repair its the image of the dem party that Trump has portrayed….Trump has framed the Dems as a party that is located east of the Iron Curtain. That’s the image that needs to be shed. I think Bernie was effectively doing that during the primary.

I also think that Bernie would’ve kicked Trump’s ass big time. Joe kinda sucks, he’s the Miami Dolphins of last week. Joe needed 4 turnovers to potentially win (he still hasn’t won) . If Trump didn’t fumble away COVID this year, Trump would’ve kicked Joe’s ass last night….

People simply want a concise effective communicator… Trump can do that with his salesmanship….. Bernie has that skill too, more importantly, he could sell it to the masses….. the Dems just didn’t let him do it.

Too bad, Bernie actually cares about people.

That reference if Haight Ashbury is dusty as hell. I can hear the Mamas and the Papas singing “if you’re going to San Francisco”…

Image is definitely valued by the masses over substance, but hyper transactional millennials and zoomers are changing that.

Sports is the crucible of human virtue. The distillate remains are human vice.
