Regarding Broncos T Ja’Wuan James, who suffered torn Achilles working out on his own, NFL Management Council sent memo to clubs saying if player is hurt “working out on his own” that’s a non-football injury and teams have no contractual obligation to provide salary continuation.

Memo, obtained by @latimes, says that, by contrast, injuries sustained at club facility are considered football-related injuries and players are entitled to significant protections, including salary, medical care and pension credit.

The NFL informed clubs tonight they should offer COVID vaccines to all rookies at upcoming minicamps and “highlight to all players that vaccinations may help players avoid missed practices and games, and therefore may have a competitive impact for the club,” per sources.

Players and staff who aren’t fully vaccinated will be required to COVID test every day, and cannot do group activity while awaiting results. Players and staff who are fully vaccinated will only be required to test once a week, with no such restrictions. Continuing to incentivize.

#Bucs QB Tom Brady joined an NFLPA call today and delivered an impassioned speech, imploring fellow players to stand united and have “very intense negotiations” with coaches on modifying offseason work rules as the union continues to push for a boycott, per sources.

Part of Tom Brady’s message to all players today: The NFL is the only pro sport with “overly competitive” drills during the offseason, and the all-virtual 2020 offseason showed there’s a better way. “There’s no f—ing pro baseball player that’s throwing 95 mph in mid-December.”

Multiple player reps said on the call they’ve already negotiated modified offseason work with coaches: The #Packers will move up minicamp and allow virtual participation in 2 other OTA weeks, while the #Dolphins will shorten days, keep upcoming OTAs to walkthrough pace.

Seahawks WR DK Metcalf is set to run the 100-meter dash at a professional track meet Sunday. And U.S. track athletes can’t wait.

“It’s going to be a really telling spectacle this weekend, as to what it’s really like to compare track speed to the NFL.”

This is interesting. There actually have been a few football players (Ted Ginn, Marquise Goodwin, Anthony Schwartz) that were trending toward being world-class sprinters before shifting their focus to football.

And Goodwin actually made the Olympic team.

The #Jaguars are planning to sign QB-turned-TE Tim Tebow to a 1-year deal, per me and @TomPelissero, a deal that could be official in the next week or so. Nothing done yet. But he’ll have a chance to make the team to reunite with his mentor and college head coach Urban Meyer.

Tim Tebow is proof that if you’re Tim Tebow and you follow your dreams you’ll end up as a tight end on an NFL team after spending a few years in the Mets farm system after failing as a quarterback for the Broncos after winning the Heisman
