What’ll it take for the Rams to find success with Nick Foles under center? Former Giants head coach Jim Fassel says the run game is key. I heard most of his interview last night and I have felt, in the NFC West, you must have a running game regardless how good your QB is. These defenses eat great QB’s up, ask Manning, Rodgers, Brees and even Brady.
Another thing Fassel stated in that interview is when he got to the Giants most thought it was going to be this creative aerial attack, he was labeled because he had Boomer. So the first thing he did was tell the players they were going to run the ball and stop the run.
He talked about Chip Kelly and said all the innovation in the world cannot overcome turnovers on a consistent basis. When the Eagles were tied for first in the NFC East last year he stated they would not make the playoffs because of Chip Kelly, citing you cannot keep your defense out there for that many snaps just to run an up tempo offense that turns the ball over to much.
Most are starting to see the problem with Chip Kelly but numerous folks on this board have touted how great and innovative he is. They are crickets now when you mention his name.
He went on to say that 12 of the playoff teams last year had 11 had a plus turnover ration and Indy was like a minus two with Andrew Luck at QB.
JMO, but deflate gate was not about Brady throwing the ball, it was about himself and the RB’s being able to grip it better and not turn the ball over.
Win the turnover battle and you will win 79% of the time.
