May 27, 2015 at 10:49 pm in reply to: what were you the MOST wrong about this time last year? #25420SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipant
1) I thought Bradford would be fine and play really great all year for us.
2) I was stunned and wrong ADavis played as well as he did…I did not see that coming….then, as I started getting excited for him…he reverted to his old style of panic/manic-play and looked like the QB the Rams cut the Summer before.
3) I was stating feel Quick would not come around…but the Britt signing is what turned Quick into an NFL WR. imo
Britt showed Quick how to play hard and fight for the ball(it’s a mindset really)…
then, Quick was really impressive and started playing to his athletic talent."I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI think Foles is good enough to get us to the Playoffs. I think Mannion will be better. I am still drafting Cook next year.
You think he will still be available at #32?
There might be as many as 5 QBs in the 1st round next year.
agreed. I’m hoping for a 1983 draft type year for QBs with a big influx of real good pro talent to the NFL.
They’ll have the warts but will be very obvious NFL talents. imo
I even think Fisher will make a play for one using future high picks if he can get close to one…or one has a really bad year and drops to 10-15th slot."I should have been a pair of ragged claws...

can finally, master the medium-passing-game.Lord, do i miss that.
Yeah. 15 yards and a cloud of nitrous oxide fumes.
The old days.
Yep, I agree with yer breakdown on the offense, zn…..
and am pining for the 15yd Dig route! 😉I also think that style of offense DE-emphasizes the need for a super rare stud at QB position
(which is smart cuz they’re hard to come by) and makes it easier to find decent/solid QBs to simply execute the game plan
and be good Point Guards(he posts referencing another sport without knowing what it is). 😉I only follow football, so my understanding of the world is very limited. 😉
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI think there’s a “willingness” for Foles to take chances downfield….that will bode more us in bigger plays cuz I like our 2 tall WRs (Britt&Quick) for those jump balls. Foles did demonstrate that against the Rams last year and we should picked him off 3-4 times in that game. imo
To be honest, I was NOT impressed by Foles and thought he panicked against us last year and threw up some punts. I think he has that tendency, at times when the play falls apart…but he can also move/slip the pass rush and make plays too. I just hope the good outweighs the bad enough for us to win the game. I’m all for risk from my QB – that’s why I like Connor Cook, he’s fearless which is good…and can lose game like Farvre could. However, overall, I think I like that aggressive style of QB play. That’s why I like that aspect of Foles…and of Cook coming out next year tho we won’t be in position to draft probably.
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI quit watching Hager and started watching Conner Cook
Yep, me too and I couldn’t take my eyes off his game.
I really like the QB group coming out next year(Cook, CardaleJOnes, Hackenburg, etc)…
and think the Rams will grab one…UNLESS…Foles really shines and takes us into the breach! 😉"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...

Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantyep, I agree wv….this team is ready to play and very deep talent-wise.
The only fear I have is Foles getting hurt…other than that, I think the team could survive an injury to any other player and still win. imowe’ll see in a few more months how the OL shapes up…but I believe Boo will get the kids on the OL working as one…there WILL be mistakes but they’ll get er done as these 5-6 new OL kids seem like dedicated hard workers that can overcome their physical limitations with great teamwork as an OL unit. Let us pray! 😉
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI agree with that, Ag!!
ConnorCook, Cardale Jones or Hackenburg are my favs for 2016.
Mannion will be a solid back-up for the next 4 yrs. But ya never know who surprises…could be Foles..or Mannion…or ADavis last year as Davis played out of his mind for a few games!! Davis really stunned me by playing so within himself and the offense with no silly desperation plays. But then he came back down to earth and appeared to be the guy the Rams cut the year before. However, even ADavis could surprise…so I’m open to any of them becoming our starter for good. I just kinda don’t think it’s gonna happen. 😉

So arguably the St. Louis plan shows up the soonest it ever possible COULD show up. In fact, it is quite likely that Stan made his LA stadium issue public when he did in order to undermine the St. Louis presentation, and that he did that precisely to TRY and make the “too little too late” case, when in fact him doing that could just as easily be taken as backing the “he never made an honest effort to deal with St. Louis” case.
Yeah, yer point is taken…it’s ALL speculation and wishful thinking on my part. 😉
…a fella can dream, can’t he?!…and spread baseless rumors too!
I mean, this is the internet after all! LOLBUT…to be fair…the whole arbitration and Rams presentation and plans for renovations 2 yrs ago….
were met with no counter plans or other than offer 127mil to renovate/fix the stadium. StLouis had no plan or response or even hiring someone to just make drawings on behalf of THEIR view for a renovation or even a new stadium.2 years goes by and now we get an attempt? Whatever was done by Stan was offered years ago in what appears to be good faith presentation…and an offer for renovation that appears less expensive than the latest offer put forth by StLouis on Friday. If there’s any bad faith in negotiations, it would appear to be on the side of the city….by waiting. The Rams had their plans ready on the deadline years ago…the city dragged their feet and had no foresight…especially by giving Stan a HUGE upper hand in negotiations.
btw – I don’t know if anything I said above is true…

I personally believe and admittedly I am biased for LA and you all know that.
I Personally believe the Rams and the league are both in alliance on the Kroenke LA proposal in Inglewood.
For Mr. Peacock, comparing his open air cute little stadium to the 80,000 seat NFL palace in Inglewood is like trying to trump paradise with a nice little rose garden by the river.Back in the 1970s or early 80s Peacock’s stadium plan may have been really something but today its really boring.
The concept for the stadium looks like it was borrowed from a number of older stadiums that exist today.Lets talk about seating capacity. 64,000 seats, 2000 less than the EJD which is 66,000. 16,000 less than the stadium proposed in Inglewood which is 80,000. Then we get into the save the Riverfront aspect which is very nice. I appreciate preservation of our history vs the NFL theme and the other features of the City of Champions project. The historic riverfront stuff does nothing for the NFL. The City of Champions Project will be all inclusive of the NFL experience including a studio for the NFL network which is based in Los Angeles.
Kroenke’s plan is to be privately financed. Peacock’s plan involves public funding and what is going to be the return for the NFL on the Peacock plan? No where near as much as the return on the new stadium in Inglewood with all that includes and no where near as much as being in the Entertainment capital of the nation if not the world. The City of Champions project screams Super Bowls and final fours and other huge events. Peacock’s stadium? Really, a Super Bowl in a 64,000 seat stadium?
Maybe Peacock’s plan will eventually bring another team desperate for a stadium to STL but, it won’t be the Rams.
Grits
Agreed, GRITS….
The Inglewood site will be an NFL flagship in the 2nd biggest market and the NFL crown-jewel 😉
A venue that hosts soccer, NFL Network offices, NFL Experience parks…everything NFL…
and – all year around due to the weather! It’ll be the Disneyworld of the NFL…for tourists!!IMO – The NFL being so quiet about all this shows complicity with Stan. Cuz no way Stan announces without already getting the tacit agreement from Tags/NFL/Owners….I don’t care what Spanos says about blocking with 9 votes.
Spanos is just jealous cuz he didn’t have the means to do what Stan has done. But more importantly it’ll pass
Cuz the NFL wants this BAD…and can get it without taxpayers being involved.IMO – THIS NFL/Disneyworld concept is what the NFL has been waiting for in LA….it’d be a helluva splash! It’s gonna ba a collaborative/joint effort with Stan/HollywoodPark owners & the NFL…and all penalties will be waived/paid back/mitigated somehow for the Rams to move.
As for WVs post about the NFL rules and Stan not being able to move just to make more money…it’s way bigger than that, I think. The Rams have won arbitration and STLouis has dragged their feet for 2 years now…doing nothing.
Good faith has been demonstrated by the Rams and this could’ve been settled with the 700mil renovation of the Dome 2 yrs ago.
The fact that Peacock just now presented his plans/drawings is weak negotiating, as if an afterthought – but the worst part is what was said about the toughest aspect of the plan….the financing.
That was presented as has yet to be fleshed out and does involve taxpayer money thru extension on Bonds of the EJD. It’s all too little too late!I have no idea what’s really happening…and I’m just kinda spit-balling here….so who knows!
I love the Horns no matter where they move…….but living here in Orange County and marrying a Rams cheerleader from the 1994….

"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI’ll bet Stan won’t even have to pay the fees to the NFL cuz he’ll be their landlord for the NFL Network studios and NFL offices/West and a NFL theme park. The NFL has said nothing about the biggest statement about moving to LA in years.
Why? Cuz the NFL wants this bad…and Stan is 2nd richest and most importantly…he HAS the means to do this without taxpayer money(well, direct taxpayer money)…Stan’s just waiting for the environmental & rezoning report to come in…and they’ll start digging by the end of the year! For the next year, Stan will just be an LA stadium and land owner with an NFL team in StLouis.
If he needs, he can have his MSL soccer team play in LA until he brings his “other” team there. 😉This all just makes too much sense to the NFL….that’s why they’re quiet!
And the other owners?…they’re just a bit jealous…for now. The money sharing will loosen their tongue….
along with the continued leverage/threat of every team wanting a new stadium ….

I think StLouis dragged their feet for 2 years…and Stan wasn’t gonna do it (al the Raiders, Chargers have FOR YEARS!!)
…especially, when Stan has the means to carry it out and singlehandedly bulid a stadium/NFL Network offices, studios..
essentially an NFL theme park over the 300 acres. The NFL Experience will be a theme park almost! Moving the team nearly triples the Rams value – something a new stadium in StLouis will not do…it just won’t.And the first team back to LA will get the spoils of a year or two before another team shares the place….essentially making the 1st team the real/home team of LA….along with all the merchandising to boot! Oh yeah, iirc, stan has a soccer team also that he could bring to LA that he would fill based on the huge contingent of soccer fans in SoCal among the Hispanic community alone!!
Honestly, after 20 yrs…the NFL site at Hollywood Park would be a mecca to the NFL!! And the NFL will have plenty of room to grow among the 300 acres of space. The owners of the other 240acres will have the NFL…the #1 sport in the US…as it’s tenant.
It’s just a perfect place and fit for the Rams Stan and the NFL Network.THAT’S why the NFL has said nothing. Stan is far to smart and deliberate to do this without there being a nod/wink in place from the NFL. Hell, the Raiders & Chargers did nothing for years…cuz they couldn’t!! Stan can….and IS!
As for the leverage angle, certainly it’s possible…but it would be the weakest of plays to get a few hundred million in value for the Rams…when moving them will instantly TRIPLE the value – Rams being winners or not. There will easily be a 5 year grace period of excitement after the move here in LA where the money will flow!
Build it Stan, cuz as you rightly know, they WILL come! And the NFL Network will be right being them! ;]

Well, Fisher needs to be smart an upgrade the QB depth/youth for the team’s sake.
So, a 3rd round QB is where I put that need.Resign Hill, Davis(RFA)…unless they can get a better FA – QB upgrade to compete…
or all the above!
I kinda like Ryan Fitzpatrick as a back-up/starter that would do well in our PA/run oriented scheme.

and have been labelled/dismissed as an idealist/glass half-full/too positive kinda fan.
Probably true….but I just know from being in a huddle that the QB has to be the most absurdly optimistic
player for 60 minutes…in order to get others to play hard and believe they can win.Anyway, glad to read ya’ll again and I’m thankful RH is still here.

However, as we saw with Davis & Hill….turnovers kill!!!That being said, during the pre-season, ALL 3 QBs threw downfield far more than ever before. It’s clear
there was a deliberate attempt from Schotty/Fisher…to push the ball farther down field. I think the development of our WRs was a factor. Britt was a revelation…and Quick looked like a beast until injured. Quick took 2 years to step up and looked like he was ready. Tavon is lightening in a bottle and I suspect he will be utilized downfield also – along with his gimmick motion- jet sweep stuff.I think Bradford beats out any QB they bring in. NOT cuz they paid him money and really want him to be the starter…but cuz Bradford EARNED it and is better than other QBs. Tho injured, I don’t think Bradford is injury prone with chronic re-injuries…sans the ACL. The shoulder and ankle have not been issues…and ACLs are “wrong place wrong time” injuries…in that they happen to ANYONE in the same situation. imo
Palmer tore his ACL once and came back and played great for the Cards until tearing it again. IF Bradford is brought back, I think that in our run-oriented offense and PA passing…Bradford will thrive in 2015. Fisher has made this team better every year – talentwise….and I think their record in 2015 will reflect that if there is even avg/conservative QB play.

Fisher wil make the OL a position of strength this draft & FA.
Get many young HogMollies for Boo to play with.Remember last year? We all wanted to get better DBs(especially FS)…
and we brought in 5 new DBs(Joyner, MoAlex, Gaines, Roberson & Barron)
and it is now a position of strength(youth & talent). McD & McCleod got MUCH better this last year…
and know GWs defense much better. And GW has learned how to use his players better after some trial and error.
Fisher now has the OC & DC he originally chose and a talent base that is familiar with the O & D systems. Also, I want to see Bradford get one more shot with this better team around him…
but we need another QB to compete. I think Bradford beats everyone out and wins the starting spot.
Bradford’s ACL stuff is bad luck. ANY player’s ACL breaks….it’s just a twist of fate.
Great thing is though…in this 2015 draft…there is very good depth of interior OL.- This reply was modified 9 years, 10 months ago by SunTzu_vs_Camus.
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI think Bradford would do very well in this offense next year.
I’d like an open competition between Bradford/Davis/rookie QB pick.I think Bradford would continue the push down-field passing game by all 3 QBs this pre-season.
Bradford’s health is a concern…but not with Davis/Hill on the bench. Our offense doesn’t ask much from it’s QB other than make the throws and don’t throw INTs. Bradford is very safe with the ball, but was starting to push the ball downfield this PS
– AND WAS GOOD AT IT!!!! Bradford doesn’t have the mobility that Davis has but man, Bradford has better arm & accuracy for mid-deeper throws and I think is a better passer than Davis. We’ll see. Either way, I’m for building a DEEP QB group – like what they did for the DL and RBs. I sure hope and would feel more relaxed having Bradford signed to a “prove it” contract next year w/incentives. I also will be interested how Bradford handles the challenge. Will he sign for less and want to stay and prove he’s the guy in StLouis? Or will he bolt for the money? Remember, he has 50mil already….
I’m curious if pride and/or competitiveness will rise up in Bradford and he’ll take the challenge!"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantJesus! Austin Davis damn near brought the team back from the dead today and we still get crap posts like the one above.
Unbelievable.

Hey hey…I’m not taking anything away from ADavis…nothing!!! He’s playing superb ball…and well within the gameplan…and then, not freaking out when improvising. He’s throwing some very good balls. BUT…he’s getting help too. He’s throwing those balls up or back shoulder..and those WRs are the ones taking the ball away. And those same WRs may drop a pass here or there..but they ARE playing much better than before. ADavis is throwing balls I wished Bradford would have thrown more…those 50/50 balls. Davis has been a revelation for 3 straight games and has really, really settled down. In fact, if I hadn’t seen 2 years of him in PS..I’d hardly think this is the same kid! He’s completely redone his game. I’m very impressed with him.
ADavis mobility and pocket has made a big difference. Davis is more nimble in the pocket than Bradford, I think. And there’s a bit of the Gambler in ADavis…let’s make that the Ghost of Farve. I think Davis has fine arm strength and is reminding me of Romo a bit. This Pre-Season, I thought Hill and Bradford were all throwing more of these deeper balls & more 50/50 jump balls as ordered from Fisher thru Schotty. We know Fisher wanted more big plays from the passing game last offseason.
I just know that Case Keenum, TJ Yates, Freeman MattMoore, KKolb, etc all had moments but couldn’t be consistent in the end.
I truly want ADavis to be the one who makes it!!I’d sure love to have ADavis and Bradford and even a high drafted rookie QB fight it out for the starting job next year.

I like Bradford, ADavis and even Hill or Kennum. But I would add a high draft pick at QB to throw into the mix and then we will have a very deep QB group…at the toughest most valuable position in football. Even trade one for a few high picks, eh?! 😉"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantSays a bit about patience, huh WV?!
It’s become so easy for many to see the players as robots that perform based on their draft slot.
Players are just humans that can throw and catch stuff…or run fast…or tackle hard!

the best of themselves.Pead yer up next! 😉
"I should have been a pair of ragged claws...
Scuttling across the floors of silent seas."SunTzu_vs_CamusParticipantI know I mentioned this to you earlier this evening. But, I think the secret to this game was simple. Hill played hurt. He aggravated it during the game. Given that, there was some kind of number going on out there–players were pressing, and you do that when you don’t have confidence. It’s one thing to lose Bradford–that screws with the team’s psyche already–but now here’s a young team and they know their qb is limited and playing hurt and he’s THE #2.
(How many teams in the history of the game had to start their #3 qb in game one. I want to emphasize that. Played their #3 QB…in GAME ONE.)
If Hill hadn’t aggravated the thing and just continued as he was going, even hurt, they would have had a chance…it at least would have been closer.
I agree. The offense was stunned without Hill 2 weeks after Bradford…Austin Davis?? Yikes. The team was a bit shell-shocked…
okay..A LOT shell shocked. They just looked so BAD…like they were stunned and disoriented or something. This team will play better because the talent IS better than it has been in 10 years.
As a Rams fan, I’m too used to these types of letdowns…as I’m sure, most of you guys are too.
However, it’s a long season and it ain’t over til it’s over. 1 win and our hope will spring eternal. I thought Hill played pretty well but looked slow moving around…so the injury makes sense to me. but until that silly INT, Hill was making solid decisions and decent(but underthrown) throws. And did anyone notice? Our WRs caught every ball. iirc
Stacy dropped the one but RBs don’t count.Quick played great and our DBs played very strong & aggressive(McDonald, MCleod, Joyner, Gaines, Jenks) so that was cool.
Our LBs disappeared and so did our DE contain….that’s what bothered me most besides the horrid OL play.
But, the defense just looked confused and lost…and they were all vets cept for Gaines/Donald/Joyner.
But hey Donald played well and had 4 tackles in limited time. Gaines was in good position most the time and tackled well.Anyway, a loss. I’m not worried cuz I think Fisher will right the ship.
I do not believe Fisher will let this team be worse than .500….even without a QB.
He’ll do what the always does and get the ship righted like the did last year. We’ll see what these player’s have in their boilers! What they’re made of.Whatever.
I’ll see ya next Sunday. 😉- This reply was modified 10 years, 2 months ago by SunTzu_vs_Camus.
