Brandon Marshall is gonna have Geno Smith or Michael Vick throwing him passes………. I wonder if Jets make a deal for Jay Cutler?
joemadParticipantCheers and happy birthday!
joemadParticipantwhere is this “the Rams moving or Staying” forum?
joemadParticipantwhy would the league and the city of STL want to spend public money to build a stadium in STL where NFL attendance has been in bottom 3 in total NFL attendance in each of the last 6 seasons?
why would the league stop an owner (Kroenke) that has his own land in LA to move from a market that has been bottom feeder in attendance and last in team value?
February 26, 2015 at 8:36 pm in reply to: Facts related to NFL relocations (and a prediction) #19152joemadParticipant
i still don’t understand why the league would favor a raiders/chargers move over a rams move. in fact, i’d see every reason to favor the rams move. kroenke would seem to be the more qualified owner. and the other team can always move at a later date and play in kroenke’s stadium.

plus, the chargers/raiders move depends on BOTH teams actually moving which is far from certain while kroenke seems intent on pushing through with the stadium project. and this is the league’s best opportunity yet to finally have an nfl team back in la. what happens if one of oakland or san diego come up with a stadium plan? the carson site is nixed and los angeles is again without a team. and i’m fairly confident the league does not want that to happen.

i agree with you. kroenke is a guy who is used to getting what he wants. the league also wants a strong owner in los angeles. spanos and davis don’t strike me as strong owners. at least in the business sense. kroenke might be a sociopath. but he’s a sociopath who gets things done. and that’d be just fine with the leagueI agree.
Kroenke is a major player. 225th on the list of Billionaires, #6 on the list if you count his wife’s Wal-Mart Empire.
Majority owner of the Arsenal, where Arsenal billionaire share holders from Russia and Dubai have tried to out bid Kroenke as majority owner, but they can’t…… Kroenke is a major global player and has the LA Market within grasp. He doesn’t want the least valued NFL franchise that he has today in STL…
Kroenke has tried to buy the Dodgers in the recent past (2007) to get into this major market.
Kroenke’s M.O. is: own the land and venue that his teams play on, as he has with Arsenal and Denver Nuggets. He has this opportunity now in Inglewood where:
1) He has a fan base with a 50 year legacy to So Cal.
2) He owns the land, (recently purchased the land, in addition the surrounding parking areas.
3) He can host a Super Bowl and other big time events, like the Olympics etc…..
4) Own an NFL team that will dramatically increase in value based on location.Other than a dwindling fan base in STL, Kroenke can’t do the other 3 options mentioned above in the STL.
1) Carson is an environmental hazard
2) Carson stadium requires public funding
3) STL requires public funding for a new stadium, while STL is still paying for the outdated TWA Dome, err The ED.February 25, 2015 at 4:04 pm in reply to: NFL will 'sweeten the pot' to keep the Rams in St. Louis #19069joemadParticipantyep, Charger, Raider or STL fan will pony up $20 to file the referendum…….
but I think the Inglewood Council Members will be getting free Ram tickets someday.
BTW, I too got the Survey from the STL Rams for the open air stadium in STL…. I used a Jefferson City Zip Code when I gave them my feedback, which basically said that STL is a baseball town….Stan Kroenke was named after Enos Slaughter, NOT Conrad Dobler….
joemadParticipantmy reply text to my buddies last night was ….DON”T FV*K WITH THE HORNS!!!….
I mean I go way back with one of these guys…., back in the 80’s, i met him through my roommate, a fellow Ram fan from San Jose….. we watched Ram games at the sports bar before the days of Sunday Tix and DirecTV…., when I got the tix, he came over every Sunday Mornings to watch Sunday Tix, we watched the 99 season playoffs and Super Bowl together, but for the past 12 years we’ve just texted during games….. and he likes this helmet… I FEEL BETRAYED!!!!!
joemadParticipantI received 2 text messages last night from fellow Rams fans, (way back Ram fans) that actually like this new concept…. I could not believe it.

Hard to believe some teams are still skeptical.

Even if games were scheduled at the same time one of the games could be broadcast locally over another station. No moving of teams needed.

Supporting 2 teams in the same market and conference will not work.
1) the local Network must carry the local NFL market team. (except when black outs apply)
2) each Network gets a doubleheader every other week. 8 doubleheaders per network….(e.g. CBS gets the double header week I, then FOX gets the double header on week II, etc….
2a) this is the problem, when CBS does not have the double header on week II, it will not be able to carry both games 100% of the time, especially when the games will be played in different time zones…..only when the local market team will host a game from the opposing conference… e.g., when the Raiders or Chargers, host an NFC team the game will most likely be shown on FOX.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Football_League_on_television
joemadParticipanti’m very surprised that “The Tuck Rule” Brady fumble vs Oakland didn’t make the list……..

2) Environmental impact study still needs to take place in Carson will take 2 years to get done, the stadium also needs public funding

3) Kronke already has the environmental impact study done for his property and no public funding required.Haven’t seen #2 anywhere. Where did you get that? I saw that the cleanup at the site isn’t complete, and I saw that their answers to the question of financing were vague and dismissive.
I think Kroenke’s referendum on the ballot is a way to circumvent some environmental impact studies. He hasn’t completed all of them. And if the vote fails (which isn’t likely, I don’t think), he would still have hoops to jump through, and his push will suddenly tilt uphill. The vote there will matter. He isn’t in the clear yet.1) You are correct, Kroenke looking for a vote to rezone Inglewood to avoid environmental impact study requirements…… as well know, his M.O. for the Denver Nuggets and Arsenal is that he also owns the land and buildings his teams play in. He wants to invest his land money in LA, not STL for his Rams… A public funded stadium in STL does not meet his M.O.
2) Per the local radio station here in SF: Carson (most commercial sites in the California) require Environmental Impact study, this will be a requirement for Carson……….check this out from the LA Times:
There is a neighborhood in Carson of roughly 1,500 homes called the Carousel. It has been the subject of controversy and litigation for years. In some homes, oil actually seeped up onto the patio. Barbara Post, president of the Carousel Homeowners Assn., has been quoted in the Daily Breeze as saying, “People are contracting cancer and other debilitating diseases at an alarming rate.”
At one corner entry to the Carousel tract, there is a sign with an unusual addition. It says: “Got Benzine? Got Methane? We do, under our houses.”
The Los Angeles law firm of Girardi Keese recently won a settlement with original owner Shell Oil, which includes payments for homeowners and a $146-million commitment to a cleanup. There remains ongoing litigation with Dole Food Co., which bought the site from Shell and developed it into homes.
The Carousel tract is about 4.5 miles from the proposed NFL stadium.
Which brings us to the obvious stadium name:The Carson Exxon Valdez

February 20, 2015 at 5:15 am in reply to: Chargers, Raiders propose shared NFL stadium in Carson #18736joemadParticipantI thought SD ownership was opposed to losing market rights to the Rams.
Now they’re willing to share the same market with a team in the same conference.
joemadParticipantI’ll the take the over on the Raiders…. Del Rio is a good coach.
Rams only 1/2 game below Arizona….. Is Carson Palmer done?
February 18, 2015 at 3:17 pm in reply to: Balzer, Wagoner, and others on Bradford & rumors & contract talks #18647joemadParticipantSince his second knee injury in Cleveland, I’ve often thought about how Bradford feels about staying with the Rams.
1) Does he feel snake bit in STL
2) Does he look forward to playing in STL in potentially a lame duck season in a half empty home stadium or a stadium that consists of 50% opposing fans?
3) if given the option would he rather play with the Jets, Tampa, Titans, Bears, Texans or even Cleveland markets that have more passion for the team?Personally I love the guy to be the RAMS starter, but has anyone thought about how he feels after being in STL for 5 years with really nothing to show for except for bad luck? I know football players are not as superstitious are baseball, but maybe he wants a change of scenery…..
joemadParticipantOh, wow. I just re-oriented the antenna, and I went up from 18 stations to 77 stations. I’m getting all the San Francisco stations now, and I don’t know what all.
And I’m not opposed to drafting a WR, btw. Just saying.
Nice! you get stations from 2 different markets (Sacto and SF) …..Cable nor satellite TV can give you that…..
antenna.org states that I should be getting about 87 channels, but I’m not sure………… I’m now hooked on old Petticoat Junction reruns on METV….. I wonder if any WRs ever came out of Hooterville?……
joemadParticipantthe Charger and Bronco helmets look decent, but they didn’t do justice to the Rams.
joemadParticipantawesome, nice job…. plenty of good free stations over the air….
I’m in South San Jose and need to tweak every once in a while to get everything I want…
you’re in Gold Country right? Which town do you live in? I assume you’re getting the Sacto TV transmission feeds? Any thing else up there?
joemadParticipantI was over at youtube trying to find out why the coax I threaded through the wall, up through the attic, and out an abandoned chimney was not conducting a signal, when youtube kindly recommended the following video. I have noticed over the years that the board compiles this draft stuff, so I thought I’d bring this one. Hope it’s not a duplicate. Feel free to combine it with other draft stuff. I just didn’t see a thread like that, so here it is.
Youtube didn’t answer my coax problem, though I figured it out all by myself later. I certainly hope the Rams fix their WR problem. (And maybe the only fix they need is a healthy Bradford, but I sure would like a stud WR).

joemadParticipantJohn Robinson’s 80’s lines were also very good and underrated. Doug Smith, Jackie Slater, Irv Pankey, Kent Hill, Dennis Harrah and Tom Newberry (Kent Hill too) They also had tight ends that could block too….
February 10, 2015 at 5:47 pm in reply to: Ed Sabol NFL Films founder RIP …..NFL Films meant so much to me as a kid….. #18295joemadParticipant
Ten to Fifteen channels?!
Man, you had it made.
We got 3 channels, with the rooftop antenna.

Wv, I think I had you beat. Most days, we got 5 channels, some days 6, but the 6th channel wasn’t worth watching.

this brought a smile to my face….. do your guys remember UHF and VHF channels???/
growing up in Santa Clara in the early 70’s we got the SF stations, local San Jose stations, and Monterrey/Salinas, ..then my oldest brother who is a big 49er fan convinces my dad to allow him to put up the rotor antenna on the roof to get the 49er games telecast out of Chico, CA because the home games were blacked out locally……. my brother would point the antenna north to try to get the Chico, CA, (I still remember, Chico Ch. 12 used to be a CBS affiliate) If the weather was good, we’d get a decent display of the game, you’d sacrifice picture quality for TV audio, no worries, game was on the radio…. the rotor antenna gave us Stockton/ Sacramento channels too.
because of all that TV antenna positioning I experienced as a kid, I’m still somewhat obsessed with antenna TV… I have a small flat screen out in the shed and play with antenna positioning to this day although the range is not as good because the digital signal these days does not travel as far as the old analog signals.
BTW, none of these channels used broadcast 24 hours…
Test Pattern, with US National Anthem sign-off….

joemadParticipantWell I hope you see this soon, Joe, because I personally am saddened by the idea that an honest (if dumb) mistake by me makes you think even for a bit that people on this board would mess with you or screw around with a post.
yes, it’s all good…. I knew it was an honest mistake……

But he didn’t elevate them…in fact he started going backwards. They were 1-3 when the benched him. The thing was, the NY OL was a wreck. He kept trying to hold the ball to make plays and the result was massive fumbling (he still hadn’t figured out about the glove yet).
The Giants were not 1-3 when Warner was benched, they were 5-4. Correct, the G-men had a terrible line.
He started off 0-3 because of his turnovers.
Correct, he did have a ton of turnovers, but that’s not why they lost the 1st game of the season vs Denver.

joemadParticipantthe 5 years thing is a bit over done… started off 0-3 in 2002 because Martz was an idiot.
Warner was sacked 9 times in the 1st 3 games of the 2002 season, not to mention he was hit like crazy. .. I think he suffered both a broken hand and concussion vs NYG…. Finally got knocked out vs Dallas that season when Jaime Martin came in for relief duty…
In NYG, Warner was purposely acquired to groom Eli Manning … Warner in NYG was 5-4 as a starter…..Giants ended up finishing 6-10 that season, so either he elevated a very lousy Giants team or Eli sucked badly his rookie year.
Warner’s overall playoff record: 9-4,
1-3 in the Super Bowl, SB 96.7 passer rating, had a 112 rating with Arizona in the Super Bowl loss to Pittsburgh.
3-0 in NFC Championship games.
too bad Greg Williams and bounty gate ended his career…
bottom line: Warner took 2 perennial losing franchises to the Super Bowl. The Cardinals hadn’t won a home playoff game since 1947 when the Cards finally won a home playoff game with Warner. Jimmy Hart, Neil Lomax, Jake Plummber couldn’t do that
Not many QBs have thrown TDs passes in the Super Bowl for 2 different teams either..Warner should’ve got in 1st ballot. Martz and STL should not have given up on Warner…. very stupid move…. almost as dumb as running Jerome Bettis out of town to pick up Lawrence Phillips…..
joemadParticipantSeahawks fan reaction thoughout game.
Seattle fans reaction of the game as it plays out……..it is 10 min long, but covers the highs and lows of the game….. ff to the last 2 minutes……. listen to what the fans are chanting right before the final Seahawks offensive play…..
heartbreaker….thankfully no one recorded me after SB 36………..we Ram fans somewhat understand the pain….
