Legalizing marijuana would make a lot of sense, I don't think there's a single case of marijuana overdose on record and tens of millions of users. It's much less dangerous than alcohol, for example.

joemadParticipantjoemadParticipantI thought it was one of Sanders’ more convincing explanations. He often frustrates me in debates by missing (imo) opportunities to make his case more clearly and convincingly.
But here with Chris Wallace, I think he did pretty well, and I think it was good enough that the effect on a FOX audience would probably win him some positive reactions,
rather than reinforce his Scary, Socialist Guy persona FOX paints him with.
>
FOX isn’t the only outlet that paints Sanders as “Scary Socialist Guy” who can’t win. The 1st question that George Streptococcus asked in the New Hampshire debate was if Sanders or Mayor Buttcheeks were too big a risk for the Dems if either of those candidates won the nomination….. that topic dominated the 1st 12 minutes of the debate.

joemadParticipantJanuary 21, 2020 at 3:16 pm in reply to: informal poll–how far away are the Rams from contending again? #110614joemadParticipantthe current Rams roster is highly competitive and worthy of a championship run.
1 play in each of the 49er games were huge in the season’s outcome…
The game in SF……The pick 6 that Goff threw right before half time-where Fred Warner returned it for a TD.
The game in LA……The potential pick 6 that Garrapolo threw right before half-time that Cory Littleton dropped….
The Rams sacked Jimmy G 6 times….. in SF.
This was a very good Rams team and better than most of the NFC teams in the playoffs.
joemadParticipantSteve DeBerg, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac, and Alex Smith can all state the same…..
joemadParticipantSan Jose State!

RIP Neil, the inventor of the air drum performances by many of his fans…. he rocked.
joemadParticipantReunited with Tavon.
I know he’s been good, but ST laid a big fat egg in SF….. 80+ yard kick off return
Bad field position with poor punts.BTW, what’s up with the fake punt vs Arizona.
I know he wasn’t formally fired but Head(s) had to roll… Stan was banking on a playoff run for the new stadium… bills are piling for that place… Stan is probably really pissed.
joemadParticipantRams special teams coach John Fassel agrees to join Cowboys’ staff
The Rams coaching staff continued to churn Tuesday when longtime special teams coordinator John Fassel agreed to join new coach Mike McCarthy’s Dallas Cowboys staff, people with knowledge of the situation said.
Fassel, 45, is the third coach to leave or be let go by the Rams since the end of a 9-7 season. On Monday, coach Sean McVay did not retain defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and running backs coach Skip Peete.
Fassel had been a Rams coach since 2012. In the aftermath of Jeff Fisher’s firing during the 2016 season, Fassel served as interim coach for three games, all losses.
Fassel, who also has coached for the Baltimore Ravens and Oakland Raiders, is regarded as one of the NFL’s top special teams coordinators. He oversaw a unit that has featured kicker Greg Zuerlein, punter Johnny Hekker and long-snapper Jake McQuaide during Fassel’s entire tenureZuerlein, Hekker and McQuaide made the Pro Bowl in 2017after McVay’s first season as coach. Zuerlein is a pending unrestricted free agent.
Fassel helped develop multiple players into special teams standouts and eventual starters.
Linebacker Cory Littleton, for example, made his mark on special teams after signing with the Rams as an undrafted free agent. He ascended from a backup role on defense to become a starter in 2018, while continuing his special teams roles, and was voted to the Pro Bowl. Littleton also is a pending unrestricted free agent.joemadParticipantjoemadParticipantThat was pretty cool…… it started off slow… almost to a point where I was going to turn it off but I really enjoyed that entire segment.
what could’ve been with Sam Bradford……..
Coincidentally, if i remember correctly Long was ejected when Bradford was hurt in Carolina…
Then it happened again in preseason in Cleveland….that was just devastating to both the 2013 and 2014 seasons.
The Rams just couldn’t “rally around” Clemmens, Austin Davis nor Shawn Hill,
Memorable Rams games that they discussed:
i forgot about the coin toss in Washington….. when the Rams made honorary captains of the players who the Rams received in the RG III trade to flip the coin, that was Long’s idea……… Rams ended up shutting them out… another memorable game that they brought up was 24-24 tie game at Candlestick and the SF game in STL that same season that the Rams won in OT… Long stated that, that was one of the most physical games that he ever played in…..It was also great to see them talk about the recent playoff games and match ups… great insights from those discussions…..
it seems that Chris Long genuinely loved his stay in STL and loved playing for Fisher and acknowledges his efforts in building that defense…..
BTW, I’m freaking old…. i remember Howie Long being drafted…… now his kid is retired from football after 11 years….. I have a photo of him on my phone when he walked off into the tunnel at Levi Stadium for his last game as a Ram….
I fucking hated him when stripped Goff in LA and jumped in the stands to celebrate the Eagle victory, but he was a great Ram.

I didn’t know Sam Wyche well. He arrived in Cincinnati as the new Bengals’ head coach in early 1984, just a few months before I departed the Enquirer for the San Jose Mercury News. But we did have a couple of conversations before I left and they were really interesting and fun. When he found out I was leaving for the Bay Area–where he had worked as the 49ers’ quarterbacks coach under Bill Walsh–Sam gave me some advice about the region and wished me well. After that, I interviewed Sam a few more times when the 49ers played the Bengals.
Most memorably to me, this included a last-second victory by the Niners at Riverfront Stadium when they got a late turnover with almost no time left and in the confusion, the Bengals’ defense forgot to cover Jerry Rice, leaving him wide open in the end zone where Joe Montana couldn’t miss him. Sam was so stunned that he immediately rushed across the field to shake Walsh’s hand and congratulate him without realizing that the score was just tied because the 49ers still had to kick the extra point to win the game. I was on the field for the final minutes and remember laughing out loud as I witnessed the whole improbable finish. Sam was not laughing. And of course, he later lost to Walsh and the 49ers in the Super Bowl on another famous last-minute Montana drive, another memorable game I was lucky enough to cover.
In my experience, Sam was unfailingly quotable and fascinating and never acted as if he knew the nuclear codes just because he coached football. I was really sorry to hear about his death Thursday after a series of health crises that must have been hell to endure. Crazily and unfairly–because he was a very good X and 0 guy and did get the Bengals to the Super Bowl–Sam is probably best known for an incident in 1989 when he told a snowball-throwing crowd at Riverfront Stadium to knock if off because “you don’t live in Cleveland, you live in Cincinnati.”
It’s indicative of Sam’s personality and philanthropic nature that he later went to Cleveland and allowed himself to sit in a dunk tank to raise money for a charity there, as he explains in this video clip from a couple of years ago. It reminds me of an era when the NFL seemed to be a lot more fun. No one enjoyed that more than Sam. My sympathy to his family and friends.
joemadParticipant14-7 game midway through the 2nd qtr and the RAMS special teams pinned Dallas on the 3………
then the Cowboys run game just avalanche the Rams defense…..Rams could not stop it….to me, those are the worst defeats to watch…..
And even before the Rams had to play catch up with a pass happy offense, the Rams had no ability to move the ball on the ground against Doomsday ….it was like Randy White and Harvey Martin suited up to play yesterday….

joemadParticipantSeattle got a bit lucky in their last 2 wins over the Rams.
In 2017, Gurley fumbled on the pylon… play was reviewed and deemed a touchback / turnover, Rams ended up losing 16-10 when Kupp dropped a 4th down TD pass to end the game….. the Rams came back and laid 42 points in Seattle for the rematch game….
In 2019, we all remember that Greg Z missed a 44 yard potential game winner….. it should not have come to that…. Seahawks were aided by a bogus late hit by Clay Matthews on R. Wilson.
Rams are good team… I hope they win on Sunday.
joemadParticipantI just don’t see it as much of a loss. I don’t know what he could have been thinking on that last return.
Joe Joe drives me crazy sometimes, fielding punts inside the 10 …. butNatson has establish himself as somewhat reliable this season…
the punt return team in the ATL playoff game in 2018 cost us badly…
unless you’re Deion Sanders or Billy White Shoes…. fielding punts and KOs is an acquired skill that takes time to develop.
Is Az Hakim or Ron Brown available? Who is the punt returning candidate to replace Jo Jo? Josh Reynolds, Rapp, Weddle, Gervase?

-Season changed after Noteboom’s injury vs SF…. i know they dropped 2 in a row prior to SF, but the losses to TB and Sea had other factors than the offensive line….each of those games should’ve been W’s
-Of course McVay’s play calling is going to change based on the state of the offensive line… that’s what good OCs and coaches must do… it’s maddening when coaches don’t change their play calling based on personnel health/capabilities.
– Pittsburgh did a great job grinding the clock in the 4th qtr….
-Blyth, Whitworth etc “step back”.. that happens when half the line is hurt…..
-Rams need to get themselves in position to get luck go their way….. bounces haven’t gone their way…
-I didn’t realize VB will cover the Raiders…. i liked him too…. he was responsive to fans on social media.

joemadParticipantI listened to a bit of the game on Game Pass radio, saw a few highlights on NFL network, but decided against watching the replay. Too depressing.
I too listened to the game, but I just rewatched it…
Both defenses played great….
Rams need to relearn how to win these ugly games… they’d be reining Super Bowl champs right now.

Player in Common (current):
Mark Barron (Rams 2014-18 / signed with Steelers 2019)
Barron was brought in as a hybrid ILB/Safety this offseason. His expected role was reduced when the team also drafted Devin Bush. Barron has been a mixed bag but Bush is turning into a star. As a starter, Barron was probably not what the Steelers needed; as a backup who logs a lot of minutes, Barron looks like a decent pickup.Jerome Bettis (Rams 1993-95, 1st Rd, 10 overall / traded to Pittsburgh 1996 along with a 3rd round pick, for Steelers 2nd and 4th rounders)
Bettis had been rookie of the year with the Rams, and rushed for 3091 yards in three years there. When he went to Pittsburgh he became the centerpiece of the Steelers offense for the next decade, rushing for 10,571 yards and winning accolades up and down, including Comeback Player of the Year, Walter Payton Man of the Year, four Pro-Bowls, two All Pro seasons, and a Super Bowl. He is now in the Hall of Fame.

Would-Be Rival?
The Rams were founded in Cleveland in 1936, eleven years before the Browns launched in the AAFC. They stayed in Cleveland until 1945, winning the NFL title in their last year in Ohio, then moved to Los Angeles. This was never a legitimate rivalry because the Steelers (originally Pirates) were so uncompetitive in those years, but also because the teams so rarely played. The Rams led the series in these years 0-2-1.All-Time Series:
Rams : 15 – 9 – 2
Playoff Series:
Steelers : 1 – 0 (Super Bowl XIV)
Current Streak:
Steelers : 3w
Longest Streak:
Steelers : 3 games (2007-15 and 1980-84)
L.A. Rams : 6 games (1961-78)First game:
December 4, 1938
Pittsburgh Pirates – 7
Cleveland Rams – 13
Cleveland Rams vs Pittsburgh Pirates. If the score is any indication, this one was not a barn-burner. The Pirates (soon to become Steelers) finished the year 2-9. The Rams (a few years from moving out of Cleveland) finished 4-7. The game was also played at Tulane Stadium in New Orleans for some reason. The Pirates were led by legendary player-coach (and great nickname) Johnny “Blood” McNally, and featured rookie phenom and future Supreme Court Justice, Byron “Whizzer” White, who led the league in rushing and scrimmage yards that season (as well as interceptions thrown). White caught a touchdown in the fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough on this day, unfortunately, and the Pirates fell to the Rams in the season’s final week. Most Recent game:
September 27, 2015
Pittsburgh – 12
St.L Rams – 6
This game was a mess. It was Jeff Fisher’s last year coaching the Rams (who would finish under .500 for the ninth consecutive season). The turf in St. Louis caught fire before the game. Josh Scobee was still kicking for the Steelers. And in the end, Ben Roethlisberger was injured (forcing us to watch several weeks of Mike Vick). You might remember Ben’s injury for its effect on a certain unemployed Halloween clown, who posted the second-best receiving season in NFL history, and almost certainly would have broken several single-season records if Big Ben had stayed healthy.
Fun trivia note: the Ram who injured Roethlisberger? Mark Barron.Biggest Game in the Series:
January 20, 1980 (Super Bowl XIV)
Pittsburgh – 31
L. A. Rams – 19
The Steelers were a dying juggernaut at this point, making one more run at the title. The Rams were 9-7 upstarts playing over their heads. That’s the way it looks on paper anyway. The Rams were actually one of the most successful teams of the 1970s, who just never got past the Cowboys and Vikings. 1979 was their seventh consecutive playoff year, but their first Super Bowl.
This game was closer than the score indicates, as the Steelers, famously, trailed 19-17 in the fourth quarter after the Rams completed a halfback option for the go-ahead points. Then Terry Bradshaw hit John Stallworth with an iconic 73 yard touchdown for the lead. A Jack Lambert interception gave the ball back to the Steelers, and Bradshaw hit Stallworth with a 45 yard gain to set up Franco Harris with the icing points.Bradshaw took home his second consecutive MVP, though you could make a case for Stallworth as well. It was the last hurrah for the most powerful dynasty in modern NFL history.
Other Memorable Games:
December 20, 2007
Pittsburgh – 41
St.L Rams – 24
A blowout late in Mike Tomlin’s rookie season, this game is mostly only memorable because Willie Parker, who was leading the league in rushing, broke his leg in the second half. Parker’s game was predicated on speed, and though he recovered and helped the Steelers to a Super Bowl victory the next year, he was never really the same back again.December 20, 1975
Pittsburgh – 3
L. A. Rams – 10
There simply aren’t that many significant Steelers/Rams tilts. This dreadful-looking contest is significant only because it is the final loss the 1975 Steelers suffered before winning out and recording their second consecutive Super Bowl victory.joemadParticipantletter to the editor in Athens Ohio… regarding Tomas Manana ……
