McVay said cornerback and safety “are going to be really tough decisions” for #LARams heading into weekend.

“I know that we’ve got a lot of really capable football players and there’s going to be some guys that unfortunately we will have to let go that are NFL-caliber players.”

#LARams HC Sean McVay on WR Mike Thomas and KR/PR JoJo Natson not playing tonight:

“We felt like, with what those guys have done throughout the preseason, (we) felt good about the evaluation that we’ve had on them and wanted a chance to get a look at some other guys tonight.”

John Wolford is why we need leagues like the AAF. If you don’t want to watch, that’s fine. But that kid is good enough to have a job in the NFL and the AAF gave him a chance to keep doing what he loves.

from Jay Glazer’s NFL mailbag: https://theathletic.com/1170876/2019/08/29/jay-glazers-nfl-mailbag-on-andrew-luck-potential-trades-and-a-personal-note-on-anxiety-and-depression/?source=dailyemail

To what extent do you believe Jared Goff is a system quarterback relying on McVay’s system?

I don’t think he’s a system quarterback anymore. I think he’s learned enough from Sean that he could play in most systems but Sean and his system made him this good… if that makes any sense. This is what got him to climb up to another level but he has the type of confidence right now where I think he could excel in a lot of systems. He has the perfect teacher for him.

There will be 1,184 players removed from rosters as of 4 pm ET Saturday, including those that will be officially placed on reserve/suspended. Players that will be eligible to be designated for return must be on the 53-man roster before being placed on reserve/injured.

As awful as NFL cuts are for so many, it is equally cold seeing guys who think they’ve made it meet the Turk later this weekend when their team claims other players and roster spots must be created.

Rams release of QB Brandon Allen leaves John Wolford, who was with Arizona in The Alliance, still on roster. Will he make it as No. 3? The dude is undersized, but can simply play and makes things happen.

By my count, so far there have been NFL nine trades yesterday and today with six involving offensive linemen. Those six played a total of 58 games with 29 starts last season. Two — Korey Cunningham (6/6) and Russell Bodine (10/10) — ended 2018 season on reserve/injured.

A rare in-division trade: Bills are trading C Russell Bodine to the New England Patriots, sources tell @Marcel_LJ and me. Bodine is the third OL the Patriots have traded for this week.

No surprise to see that many of the trades that have happened recently involve offensive linemen. Depth on the OL is an issue league-wide and giving up a late-round pick rather than trying to play waiver wire bingo has increasingly become the norm.

Brandon Marshall is available. Would fit very well with the Rams.

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
FYI on #Rams and potential link to ILB Brandon Marshall: A: Rams really like the depth they have at ILB. B: With his contract guaranteeing Week 1, even if there was interest it would be further down the road.

As a follow up to Marshall, you can assume any veteran who is cut is going to be a tough add this week. Unless they can contribute to 46 man roster against Carolina, likelihood is they aren’t going to be signed or evaluated by #Rams until after Week 1.

There are just too many good young players to tie up a roster spot for a full year with a much more expensive veteran.

What’s some waivers claims positions u think the rams would put in

    Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
OL/DL. But pickings are slim as they have 31st selection. Don’t rule out a trade to get around waiver process. You might see a trade of a player for a pick and then turning around and trading that pick for a different player – in essence player for player but with three teams

Straight trade of player for player is harder because both teams depth has to match up along with the valuations of players involved.
