Not surprised by mention of the Rams fielding calls for Robert Woods in today’s MMQB.

Brought up the idea about a year ago that he could’ve been a cap casualty this offseason prior to extension.

Has nothing to do with how good he is. Just about the structure of the roster/cap.

Before you completely disregard the idea of Woods being traded, consider this:

You’d be saving at least $11.9M this season. That’s… a lot. Think they have plenty of faith in VJ12 (who is costing you $1.28M this year) and want to bring in a field stretcher. It could happen. …

    NFL Update@MySportsUpdate
#Raiders are releasing veteran safety Lamarcus Joyner after two seasons with the team, per @RapSheet. A big money free agent signing that turned out to be a disappointment. Vegas saves $8.7M against the cap.

The term fielding calls, to me means that teams are willing to give up a first round pick for Woods.

Be prepared for most #nfl teams to make a few “not so popular” player cut/trade decisions since the 2020’s salary cap of $198.2M drops to $185M this year for 2021.

The $13.2 difference will come from one or two restructures or contract(s) releases.

Sebastian Joseph-Day (@SJD_51) ranked 3rd among all DL in the NFL in run stops in 2020 with 30 (
    @PFF).

He played in significantly fewer run snaps (207) than both of the DL ahead of him in Sam Hubbard (265) and Daron Payne (340).

Bash has developed into a big-time performer.

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
Les Snead mentioned a handful of young, unproven players who the Rams like entering 2021. Xavier Jones and Tremayne Anchrum were among them, as were “all those defensive linemen we kept on practice squad”

OL in free agency and the draft is deep. Great year to help your favorite team with the big uglies

Fun fact: Bash had the most run stops per run defense snaps (0.144) among all DL in the entire NFL (min. 150 snaps).

Wildly efficient and effective player that had a major, major impact on the Rams’ run-stuffing efforts with light boxes this past season.

PFF’s highest-graded CB’s when aligned in nickel since 2019 (min. 30 targets) among the free-agent class:

    1. Troy Hill – 89.8

    14. Nickell Robey-Coleman – 68.4

    from https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/03/12/andrew-whitworth-matthew-stafford-has-respect-across-nfl/

[Whitworth on Stafford:] “For all NFL guys that have been around Matt’s career and what he’s been able to do, you look at a guy that you think of as just toughness and a chip on his shoulder a little bit to how he plays and competes,” Whitworth said…. “Has not had the best run with teams there in Detroit and talent around him, I would say, but there’s nobody in this league that doesn’t have a lot of respect for that dude, the way he competes, some of the throws he makes and really his style of play at the quarterback position.”

The problem with Kupp that I haven’t seen mentioned is he misses games big games ,he’s missed more playoffs including a Superbowl than he’s played. How many times have you seen him messin with his knees after a play?
