I looked at training camp like an unnecessary evil. The older you get, the “easier” it becomes. Also, when we eliminated two a days, the physical toll of camp went away. Now it’s more of a mental grind. We used to have two a days with no limits on practice time. Full pads, we’d do 1on1 run block and pass pro. Pods (2 on 1) and maybe half line. Then we’d all get 30 or more team reps. Then do it again later in the day, minus the 1on1 run block/pods Then the run it back next day
Now, no more run block, pods or half line. You might get 30 team reps in a day. Maybe it’s a deload day and it’s less. Or maybe you’re not in pads. It’s just much easier on the body. There are still teams that hit in camp and it’s physically tougher than others.
That’s why if you’re going to draft a lineman high and want to play him early, he must be ready now. “high upside” guy often struggles early if he’s playing before he’s ready.
Better for the health of players. But it’s the reason football in Sept often looks sloppy.
I’m in a football mood today. It’s so close. I’m going to start posting videos with my favorite plays from last year. I’ll have one out this afternoon on a Rams play from week 4. Be on the lookout.

znModeratorAlright, it’s almost time for football again. Here’s one of my favorite plays from 2018. Love when coaches take concepts and put their own twist on them, like McVay did here! It’s awesome. 🔊 up! pic.twitter.com/JqFcy39Co2

My top 5 Candidates for DEF Player of the Year
1) Myles Garrett
2) Aaron Donald
3) Von Miller
4) Khalil Mack
5) Derwin JamesSam Monson@PFF_Sam
Anybody over Aaron Donald is crazy. Not that they can’t, but the idea that probability says they WILL is nuts, cos it requires an all time great season given the bar being set by Donald right now
DPOY is Donald’s award to lose. I’m not saying someone else can’t win it, but anyone else at the top of a list of candidates is just not playing the odds.

znModeratorHaving versatile players is key to keeping opponents on their toes, and the Rams have two of the most valuable, versatile players in the NFL. And one of them is Cooper Kupp.

znModeratorWhether it is Goff or the Rams staff, this choice of route to personnel needs to stop. Poor match of route to player. pic.twitter.com/lkNNrAWqBX

znModeratorPARAM
A couple of players to note for 2019
Littleton led the team in tackles both in regular season (125) and postseason (29). Had 3 regular season picks, 1 in the postseason. Had a punt block (for a safety) in the regular season, IIRC, his 4th in 2 years. Has been a superb player for the Rams. Hell for much of the year it was either Donald or Littleton making a big play.
Everett hasn’t “broken out” yet but his receptions increased by 106% on just 56% more targets.
