#Rams to keep on eye on for possible contact extensions later this summer: Tyler Higbee, Greg Zuerlein, Cory Littleton, Austin Blythe. (Recent history suggests Rams could be busy on that front the next couple months)

Higbee’s more important than people realize. Very good blocker and, when his number is called, a more than capable receiver. There is value in what he brings to the table. Very much valued by the #Rams

Goff? Only my guess: Next offseason /summer

Still can’t believe Todd Gurley only faced a loaded box (8+ defenders) on 19.6% of his rushes in 2018, the fourth-lowest mark among backs with 100+ carries on the year.

    NFL avg. was 40%

LA’s high usage of 11 personnel and effective play-action passing was such a game-changer.

For those with a good pulse of NFL history… any context for this era of QB stability? Feels like there are hardly any training camp battles at the position. All but one division (NFC East) has all four starting QB jobs locked in for 2019. Is this unprecedented?

Competition seems to be catching up to two-time defending division champs, who need Todd Gurley close to 100% in their bid to shake off the Super Bowl hangover that effects so many outfits that fall just short. And a rude wake-up call is coming with four of first five road contests in Eastern time zone.

Sources: #Seahawks standout DL Jarran Reed is being suspended 6 games for a violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy for an incident from early 2017. He was not charged or arrested. His appeal was denied Friday morning. Huge on-field impact.

    Albert Breer@AlbertBreer
Reed’s a big piece of the Seattle front, and in a contract year.

    https://www.pff.com/news/pro-ranking-all-32-secondaries-ahead-of-the-2019-nfl-season

    7. LOS ANGELES RAMS
    CB Aqib Talib
    CB Marcus Peters
    CB Nickell Robey-Coleman
    S Eric Weddle
    S John Johnson III

There are two words that should give Rams fans everywhere reason to be optimistic: contract year. Marcus Peters was lit up for the majority of last season, giving up over 100 yards on four separate occasions. He’ll have to get back to his Kansas City form to earn a big-money second contract.

from 2016 NFL Draft revisited: Ranking the top 10 players in the class

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001036212/article/2016-nfl-draft-revisited-ranking-the-top-10-players-in-the-class

    6
    Jared Goff
    QB
    Rams
Draft slot: Round 1, No. 1 overall

Goff has gotten better and better with each passing year, taking huge leaps in each of Sean McVay’s first two seasons as Rams head coach. In 2018, he set career highs in several categories (64.9 completion percentage, 4,688 passing yards, 32 passing touchdowns) and helped the Rams string together a 13-3 season that ended in the Super Bowl. Goff’s postseason performance wasn’t great, but the continuity on L.A.’s offense will allow him to immediately get back on track in September. With slot receiver Cooper Kupp back in the fold and hopefully a more healthy Todd Gurley, Goff should be headed for another career year.

    from https://seahawkswire.usatoday.com/2019/06/26/will-jared-goff-outperform-russell-wilson-over-next-5-years/

“Good Morning Football” host Peter Schrager was asked which NFC West quarterback he thinks will perform the best over the next five years, and he selected the Los Angeles Rams’ Jared Goff over Russell Wilson.

“Jared Goff, he went to a Super Bowl last season,” Schrager said. “Jared Goff is going to get paid like he deserves, and Jared Goff has, to me, the greatest mastermind when it comes to drawing up plays that are going to suit the young quarterback, Sean McVay. So you put that all together I’ll take the guy who I’ve seen do it on the field, in this offense, and no offense to Russell Wilson.”

Just spoke with #Cowboys WR Allen Hurns on today’s release. He’s understandably disappointed saying “I’m good. Just wished they did this earlier, they asked me for a pay cut Monday. Couple days before camp.”

    Ross Tucker@RossTuckerNFL
Squeeze to take pay cut on Monday before camp ✓

Cut on Tuesday before camp ✓

One year into multi-year contract ✓

After breaking leg playing for them in playoffs in January ✓

But please tell me again about players needing to “honor” their contracts. 😂

The Pats put a clinic on creating pressure in the playoffs. Attacked the Chargers right side, the Chiefs IOL and the Rams C. It was brilliant. Interchange parts on D so tough for OL to key on tendencies

from Top-10 active wide receiver-quarterback tandems in catchable target percentage

    https://www.pff.com/news/pro-top-10-active-wide-receiver-quarterback-tandems-in-catchable-target-percentage

    1. COOPER KUPP, JARED GOFF, LOS ANGELES RAMS
    84.9% Catchable Target Percentage

Since Kupp entered the league in 2017, he has done nothing but be the go-to slot receiver for Los Angeles as the Rams’ quarterback has had a 127.0 passer rating, 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions when targeting the young receiver with catchable passes. Although, they’re not the longest-tenured couple – Kupp’s 84.9 catchable pass percentage leads all qualifying duos

Kupp saw 50 targets in just eight games last year as a consequence of his season being cut short due to an ACL injury. The excitement is mounting for the Rams receiver’s return, and his name has even been circulating in Comeback Player of the Year discussions as we approach NFL Training Camp. Undoubtedly a challenge, although, that award may not be out of reach for Kupp. In one-and-a-half seasons Goff has targeted Kupp 139 times resulting in 118 catchable passes. If the L.A. duo continues at this rate, they could be one of the most in-sync duos in the entire league.

    ==

    7. BRANDIN COOKS, JARED GOFF, LOS ANGELES RAMS
    79.1% Catchable Target Percentage

Goff, the only quarterback to be listed with two separate receivers on this list, targeted Cooks 110 times, 87 of which were catchable balls (79.1%). Although the sample size is small relative to this group, the duo still managed to gain 1,204 yards on catchable passes, good enough for an average of 10.9 yards per attempt which exceeds all other duos on this list.

Things can change, but sense I’m getting is it’s doubtful that #Rams have an interest in recently released – available – ILB Mason Foster and DT Mike Daniels. They feel good about where they are at those positions heading into camp.

Goff did not seem worried or concerned about a new contract as he goes into last year of his rookie deal. Sense is everything will work out on that front

    Joel Corry@corryjoel
No need for any really good young pass rusher to sign for less than $20M per year with strong guarantees. Frank Clark helped define the market at $20.8M per year with $62.305M in guarantees ($43.805M fully guaranteed at signing).
