So teams that major in cover 2 have to run a stunt called a pirate to fill gaps. It’s very easy to see. They don’t care. But sometimes a team is stupid enough to actually say “pirate” on the field. So we caught on once and they changed it to “Pittsburgh”…Of course we figured that out quickly and I’d yell out pirate when they called Pittsburgh. After the 3rd time they called Pittsburgh I yelled out “y’all think we are that stupid. It’s a pirate. We know it”. Someone said “no it’s not” and then they proceeded to run a pirate. 😂😂

Here at #Rams OTA. Team is split up in individual groups and interesting to see Jamil Demby working off to the side at center.Joel Corry@corryjoel
A protection agreement is signed before participating in the rookie minicamp if contract isn’t already done. It ensures player with get the deal associated with his draft slot if hurtMandatory minicamps are this week & next week. Any NFL player under contract that skips all 3 days is subject to a $88,650 fine. Players with unsigned tenders, like Jadeveon Clowney, can’t be fine. There isn’t a contractual obligation to perform services.

He lists Littleton, Allen, Everett, and Franklin-Myers.
It is really true that for a veteran team, the Rams have an interesting “youth movement” layer to them.
Young players to watch in 2019 (ie. drafted since 2016).
Rapp (though as a role player)
Littleton
Kiser
Fowler
Obo
Joseph-Day
Franklin-Myers
Gaines
Noteboom
Allen
Everett
HendersonThatza lot.
And of course Goff and Gurley for different reasons (plus they were drafted 2016 or before).

The window is open longer than that. To keep it open they need to keep doing what they’ve been doing: Draft well and develop. That’s the key. As long as there are young, inexpensive players who can produce around the core they can maximize this windowJune 3, 2019 at 5:08 pm #101877

A note from Schefty: “Darrell Henderson, third round pick 70th overall, running back from Memphis, here’s a guy that I believe Sean McVay thought was THE most dangerous offensive player in the draft…That’s right. [The Rams] LOVE Darrell Henderson.”Geoff Schwartz@geoffschwartz
Henderson is a great runner. Watched a ton of Memphis last season—

Asked about reports that Gurley may play at a lighter weight this fall, “I want him to feel most comfortable.”Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Free advice: Don’t invest a lot of money in NFL preseason tickets. Chargers coach Anthony Lynn said he studied teams (such as the Rams) who held back starters in the 2018 preseason and said there’s “a really good chance” he will follow suit this fall.Adam Schefter@AdamSchefter
Panthers are giving DT Gerald McCoy a one-year deal worth up to $10.25 million that includes a $4 million signing bonus, per source.Field Yates@FieldYates
Panthers projected defensive front includes:
* DT Kawann Short
* DT Dontari Poe
* DT Gerald McCoy
* DE Brian Burns
* DE Bruce Irvin
* DT Vernon Butler
* DE Mario Addison
* DE Christian MillerLuke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson play making behind them.
Bill Barnwell@billbarnwell
Panthers can line up some combo of Bruce Irvin, Brian Burns, Mario Addison, Kawann Short, Dontari Poe, and Gerald McCoy along their defensive line? That could be a scary unit if people stay healthy.ProFootballTalk@ProFootballTalk
$4M guaranteed for Gerald McCoy means there simply wasn’t the market that some were led to believe there would be.==

Quick observation from #Rams OTA’s: Wade Phillips is utilizing a bunch of different personnel groupings/packages, and Clay Matthews figures pretty prominently. The experience/football IQ level of this group really jumps out.Also Morgan Fox, who missed all last year with a knee injury, has been moved back to DE. #Rams had high hopes for him as a rotational pass rusher before the injury.

Dante Fowler on trade to the Rams: “When I got here, it just felt like everything I was asking for. It was like my wishes were being granted.”Dante Fowler said “all the guys,” including Aaron Donald, Aqib Talib, Marcus Peters, “just welcomed me with open arms and they just let me be the player that I am.”
Rams OLB Dante Fowler on if the Rams were to offer him an extension this season: “Damn right, I will be signing that paper.”
Joe Curley@vcsjoecurley
Fowler says he appriciates coach McVay supporting his decision to spend part of OTAs in Florida dealing with a family situation.Sean McVay says Cooper Kupp is on track to return from his knee injury: “He’s really doing an excellent job staying right on track, making excellent progress.” Kupp has been taking non-contact reps during OTAs.

In the name of the ongoing NBA Finals, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks drew some NBA comparisons in his latest ranking of the league’s top receiving corps. For the Rams, Brooks says there is no “lead receiver” on any given night.
Here’s why:
No. 4 Los Angeles Rams (Starting five: Brandin Cooks, Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp, Tyler Higbee, Gerald Everett.) “Cooks, Woods and Kupp share duties as the lead receiver on the team based on weekly matchups and McVay’s creativity. The Rams’ clever play-action system creates opportunities down the field with that trio attacking voids at the intermediate level. Higbee and Everett fly a bit under the radar, but they have the capacity to win their one-on-one matchups against linebackers and safeties. NBA comparison: Utah Jazz.”

THE FRANCHISE QB
Ali Bhanpuri of NFL.com tabbed former Ram Kurt Warner as the team’s top signal caller of all time last week. Bhanpuri credits Warner’s quick work and the accolades that followed while running the offense in St. Louis.
“Warner made just 50 starts for the Rams, but boy, was he efficient, piling up two MVPs, two first-team All-Pros, three Pro Bowls and the franchise’s first and only Super Bowl title in that span. Warner certainly benefited from playing in an offense with two Hall of Famers (Orlando Pace, Marshall Faulk) and two game-changing receivers (Torry Holt, Isaac Bruce). But No. 13 was the conductor of the “Show”, and under his direction, the Rams produced two of the best offensive seasons of all time.”
