Rams were able to get the deal done because they lost Tru/Watkins in free agency. “Because we expect to have three third-rounders in this draft based on compensatory picks… we did know we might be able to have that silver bullet of a of a third rounder to get a Dante Fowler.”

Snead said the Rams had enquired about Fowler in August, after Jacksonville declined his fifth-year option: “We felt like we needed some edge presence. I was knocking on their door talking with (Jacksonville GM) Dave Caldwell a good bit.”
