The Rams were among several teams who traveled a very limited contingent to the Senior Bowl this year. No GM, coach, assistants, etc. Only a couple of people from scouting department, as the team plans to do most of their scouting based on the film provided.

Spent the last few days in Mobile at the Senior Bowl. A few Rams-centric observations and subjects that became topics of conversation among league scouts, assistant coaches, agents, etc…

Plenty of speculation about Rams’ DC situation & hiring of Broncos OLB coach Brandon Staley for position. Surprise that Wade Phillips was let go with a defense that ranked 9th in efficiency. Lots of curiosity about how players will respond to a DC they’ve likely never heard of.

Good amount of excitement for new stadium opening. One interesting & common misconception, however, is how many think Rams are opening new training facility at stadium site. Not the case. Facility will not be at stadium site & no plans have been announced for permanent facility.

Note: at one point this week, PFF listed Troy Hill among their top 50 FAs for 2020.

    Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
@PFF just fyi, Troy Hill is *not* a free agent.

    Tyler Hyndshaw@TylerHyndshaw
he is under contract since the void requirements weren’t met

I asked a few of my scout buddies what is the hardest thing in the NFL to replace.

I thought the answer would be rushing the passer. A pure pass rush specialist.

I was wrong. The majority said an athletic ILB that can go sideline to sideline and cover TEs. There are literally 4 or 5 of those in the world. Littleton is one of them.

So you know where my vote goes.

At this point Kev, you could literally have a Black Friday line outside the stadium store with all us fans when the jerseys get released if you wanted

    Kevin Demoff@kdemoff
The good news is this July we will have a stadium store for you to go to. The better news is the jerseys will be out before that

    from https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/01/24/report-patriots-hire-jedd-fisch-from-rams/

Jedd Fisch has joined the Patriots’ coaching staff in a yet to be determined offensive capacity, Jim McBride of the Boston Globe reports.

Fisch was the Rams’ senior offensive assistant the past two seasons, adding assistant offensive coordinator to his job title for 2019.

Can confirm @globejimmcbride report that Rams senior offensive assistant Jedd Fisch has departed for the Patriots. Fisch spent time at the Senior Bowl in very close range of Bill Belichick and his assistants.

Rich Hammond: “he was sacked far more often in 2018 (33 times) than in 2019 (22 times).” There’s a little hint here (link), anyway it’s pressures not sacks & less stable protection overall esp. against blitzes (he also threw the ball away more but that’s not in this): http://nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000001098529/printable/nfls-most-underperforming-units-of-2019-10-big-problem-areas

Yeah that’s good stuff. I tried to get into the “pressures” thing a little also. One problem is, 3 or 4 sites do fantastic jobs of breaking down this stuff, but the data is always slightly different because some of this is subjective.

Current openings are special teams and running backs, and technically Fisch’s job though I think they might fold that into offensive coordinator. I don’t really get updates on interviews, etc. I’d bet everything is wrapped up by the combine.

this is a question for any Ram fans/reporters that has any info; has anyone seen or heard from the new DC. A presser? A reporter asking what he thinks about HIS NEW ROSTER ON D? Bueller…Bueller The OC ? Bueller?

    Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Rams have yet to announce the hire, thus no availability.

from 15 notable players under contract who could be in different uniforms next season

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/agents-take-15-notable-players-under-contract-who-could-be-in-different-uniforms-next-season/

    Eric Weddle

    LAR • FS • 32
    2020 Salary Cap Number: $4,750,525
    2020 Compensation: $4,250,524
    2020 Dead Money: None
    2020 Salary Cap Savings: $4,750,525

Taylor Rapp emerged after strong safety John Johnson landed on injured reserve in November with a shoulder injury. The 2019 second round pick’s development could make Weddle expendable since the five-time All-Pro doesn’t have an interest in being a backup. Retirement is also a possibility for the 35 year old. The Rams would also get $500,000 of cap relief from the 2019 option bonus proration relating to the $1,000,001 payment required to pick up Weddle’s 2020 contract year.
