OK, so the communications manager where I work is always trying to educate the rest of us on grammar and punctuation and writing style. I think I asked her three times if I should capitalize the word “city” when I write a sentence with, “The city of Saint Paul did this blah blah blah..” I still don’t remember.

So she sends me a link to a website with explanations about when to capitalize a word like theta and when not to, and why. But it’s written in the form of a comic, illustrated like a comic, and has colorful language in it. IT’S THE BEST!

My afternoon has been refreshing KFFL to find out if we signed Ndamakong Suh, a little writing work on our comprehensive plan and scrolling through theoatmeal.com to learn whether my cat is plotting to kill me, the six stages of relationships, and other things. I came across this and had to share it. Insightful, funny, interesting, entertaining and thought-provoking. Lots of fancy words.

Hi Snow. I thought this post fit better on the Public House board.

Yeah, i agree with all that. I think we’ve all talked about that ‘backfire effect’ many times over the years.

The good folks at Cambridge Analytica and the good folks at the CIA pys-ops research facilities all study that dynamic and the ways to ‘use’ knowledge about how the human-amigdyla works to get results they want.

Anyway, nice, clear, accessible article. Teachers should use that one in class-rooms. (for all the good it will do)
