Not a big fan of the RR HOF nor a fan of most of the bands inducted…… but i do like some of the bands inducted in the recent past….specifically the Cars

for the 2nd year in a row Devo is in the nomination mix. To me they’ve been a very underrated band based on their impact on nu wave music and pioneers of using video to promote their songs…….. ….BTW if you carefully watch their Freedom of Choice vid someone is wearing Rams headphones while contemplating a “choice”….

Although I’m mainly a hard classic rock fan, but I always thought that Devo was a great band… I’ve seen them twice in concert and was very impressed with their live performance….

voters can choose up to 5 bands on a daily basis….however, I’ve only been voting for 1 or 2 bands… Devo, fuck the rest… except for maybe the Dolls from NY

New York Dolls : “””When I say I’m in love you best believe
    I’m in love, L U V!!!!”

Hey, Joe. Where you going with that gun in your hand?

Agree on Devo. They should be in. Whip It! and Satisfaction were masterpieces.

The other two I think definitely belong are Tina Turner and Todd Rundgren.

Tina has had an amazing career, from her early stuff with Ike, her solo stuff in the 60’s, her revival in the 80’s and just for being her. Hell, her Acid Queen in the movie Tommy should get her in all by itself!

Rundgren could get in just as a producer. Grand Funk Railroad were a bunch of washed up nobody’s before he produced “We’re an American Band.”. True, they still are washed up nobody’s, but everybody knows THAT song. He also took heavy metal XTC and convinced them to make “Dear God”. Bold move at the time, great song. As a musician and front man, he is no slouch. I did see him live once, in Providence, RI, so maybe I’m biased in his favor.

    The best of the rest?

Carole King – just saw her do a COVID vaccine song.

Kate Bush – her duet with Peter Gabriel on “Don’t give up’ on the “So” album is timeless

The Go-go’s – Hey, are they all chicks?

Everybody else can go fuck off.

I feel sad for Msry J. Blige. She is in with Chaka Khan, Dionne Warrick, and Tina Turner. Mary has been in the game for 30 years.

LL Cool J should be a shoe to be in the Hall.

Of that list I would induct Tina Turner, Iron Maiden, Devo, Todd Rundgren, and The Foo Fighters – in that order.

My list is based on the importance of each act on their particular rock n roll genre.

Interesting how so many of the nominees for the Rock n Roll HOF aren’t rock n roll performers. It’s like nominating Bill Russell for a bust in Canton.

I think Tina Turner and Todd Rundgren are the most significant names on that list.

I don’t know. Seems to me discussions like this usually come down to familiarity/favoritism. For me… not one of those artists would get consideration for my Desert Isle Discs, even if I had a 100 albums to take. And I own some of their albums, and like them well enough. Just not THAT much.

So for me… it’s just like… Turner and Rundgren are the most accomplished. IMO.
