    Rams place Lamarcus Joyner on non-football injury list

    The Los Angeles Rams announced on Wednesday that safety Lamarcus Joyner was placed on the non-football injury list. It’s unclear what exactly the injury is, but Joyner is eligible to come off the list and practice whenever he’s medically cleared.

    Joyner will play the 2018 season on the franchise tag, earning $11.3 million. This is likely a non-issue considering he wasn’t placed on the PUP list with a designated injury, so expect him to return relatively quickly.

    Last season, Joyner picked off three passes and forced a fumble in 12 games, his first season as a full-time safety in the NFL. He’s a big part of the defense, which is why the Rams opted to tag him and not Sammy Watkins.

    Keeping Joyner healthy will be crucial for Los Angeles.

    Joyner was placed on the list on Wednesday. The starting safety is immediately eligible to participate in practice.
