i thought this was kind of interesting. it does offensive and defensive drive stats. and then combines the two for net drive stats. which is just the offense minus the defense.

so it has stuff like average yds per drive. points per drive. and so on. but what’s kind of astounding is the net drive stats. the gap between the rams who are first in net yards per drive, net points per drive, and net drive success rate is huge. especially when you compare second to the rest of the field.

but i guess that’s kind of to be expected when their point differential is as large as it is. but still cool to see.

last year the rams finished 9th in net yards per drive, 4th in net points per drive, and 8th in drive success rate.

you can click here and see where philly and new england ranked (of course both ended up in the superbowl).

again. so far this year. the rams rank first in all three categories through only 3 games.

also interesting. i just started looking through the past years’ drive stats.

ok. so net points per drive.

rams this year. so far. only 3 games in. are at 2.38 net points per drive.

next closest as far as i can tell unless i missed something is the 2007 new england patriots at 1.95 net points per drive. they also finished first in net yds/drive and net dsr that year. and yes. that’s the year they also finished 16-0.

the next closest team after that was the 2001 st louis rams with 1.28 net points per drive. they also finished first in all three categories that year.

so if this current rams team can keep that pace. uhhhh. wowsers. that would be something wouldn’t it?

of course the two teams i just mentioned were also upset in that year’s superbowl. sooo… welp.

but there’s no way they can sustain this. especially with peters and talib going down.

Plus Oakland and Arizona were poor opposition.

I wish I had time to look that over. Tuesdays are bad for me. Interesting stuff.

this is something i’m going to track throughout the season. i’m curious to see where they rank at midseason and then obviously at the end of the season.
