I want to thank everyone who posted in my “thinking of moving” thread.

Also want to thank Snowman. We had a WONDERFUL visit with him at a Caribou Coffee in the Mall of America. Snow was awesome to get to know in person and he was emblematic of our trip, friendly and fun. Thanks again, Snow!!!

Just got back last night from my second trip to Minneapolis (Yesterday was my 28th Wedding Anniversary!!!) and now that the wife and my youngest are all in, I’m stoked to get started and really do what has to be done in order to move.

We had an amazing trip, even though it was only basically two days.

Thursday, it was PERFECT fall weather, between 58 degrees and about 40. I didn’t even need to put on a jacket and only put on my sweatshirt hoodie when it started to steadily sprinkle. I didn’t want to catch cold going into and out of warm/cold with a wet long sleeve shirt.

Friday was the first snow of the year and it was truly picturesque. Temps got down to about 28 and I was fine in my sweatshirt and I had a shell to keep out the snow/wind. Even my youngest who’s petite and gets cold super easily was fine.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the drivers in MN. They actually make room for other drivers, use their turn signals (mostly) and don’t tailgate. Drove for 7 days total for about 800 miles and didn’t see one accident. We saw multiple accidents our first day in FL and I can’t remember a time when we had to drive 30 mins we didn’t see at least one fender bender.

Coming back to Florida, that steamy humidity that seems to be ever present put me into a bad funk. Can’t stand the humidity anymore. Like plenty of the people, but Minny’s gonna be home soon enough.

And no worries, brothers… RAMS NOW! RAMS FOREVER!!!!

Hey, Mac. Glad to hear you have found an area that your whole family agrees with.

Starting to think of a move ourselves, but we’re going to wait and see where our two settle / gravitate to. We’ll either go close or at least somewhat equidistant to them.

I’ve lived in Connecticut my entire 53 years on this sphere, but may be out of here soon.

Well done Mac. Glad to hear it all.

And a special thanks to snow too, who took it to the next level.

    Pie for everyone.

It helps that the job market there isn’t seemingly only retail/service jobs.

And we found some places that would be really great for a multi-generational home.

What’s cool is that we’re looking to be not too far from Snow.

I dunno where Eternal Ramnation is (I think he said, but I forgot), but I know once I get there (6 months…2 years??? no idea) that we’ll all have to get together and watch our World Champion Rams defend their championship!

I was thinking of trying to head back up in Winter, but with the Super Bowl in Minny this year, it’s not even worth trying to plan anything until after it’s over and people have left.

I didn’t realize how much I’d missed “weather” until it was snowing and I actually felt invigorated.

And yes, Snow took it to the next level. Was…awesome!

    Hi Mac.

Nice choice. I once remotely managed a territory there and got to visit once per quarter. Plenty of snow, but also plenty of sunshine which is nice. Lots of lakes, woods and outdoor activities year round. Ice fishing is one of the funnest things in the world and MN has some of the best in the country.

The Twin Cities are cool (except for that big ass mall). The people are great and they have that Norwegian thing going on so there is lots of blonde stinkless pussy (my preference as far as pussies go). Great hunting. Access to Canada. Minnesota is actually a lot like upstate New York where I live, only the weather is better and the people are blonder.

I personally hate Florida – the fire ant infested fake grass, Les Baker, the flatness, the humidity, the daily rain, the shitty drivers, Les Baker, the kooky rednecks, the crime in the cities, I-95, Disney World (well, I kinda like Disney in the off-season if I have a lot of MDMA and mushrooms or PCP/ketamine analogs), Les Baker, not knowing Spanish, Miami time, hurricanes, snakes, Les Baker, lack of seasons, trailer trash, alligators and my ex in-laws.

    It’s a mistake.

We are very friendly in northern California, and we at least know how to make cheese well.

Great News Mack! I’m in Eden Prairie Southwest suburb where the Vikes Winter Park is. Looking forward to meeting you.

    I’m skeptical about this.

Oh, I see. Pennsylvania not GOOD enough, eh? You want snow? We got snow. You want malls? We got malls. You want lakes? How about Lake Erie? You want cold weather? Oh yeah–we got that too. Cold, frigid brrrrrr weather. You want football teams? We have TWO! Baseball teams? TWO! Dunkin Donuts? All over the place! Jimmy Stewart and Shirley Jones are from this great state for goodness sakes! And have you thought about this? Does Minnesota have a WAWA? Don’t know what a WAWA is? Well, maybe you should have found out because it’s only the greatest gas station/mini-mart ever put on God’s green earth–and we got ’em! Hoagie Fest every summer!!!!! That’s right–hoagie classics for only $4.99!!!!

So….feeling a little sick right now about your decision, I suppose. Having some doubts?

Let me throw this little cherry on top. We have a pagoda! That’s right–a beautiful pagoda that overlooks the city! Want to go to China? Why fly THERE? Lots of smog. Just visit the pagoda and boom! There ya are!

    r

    Still not sold?

Well—actually–you may have made a good choice. I’m here because my kids are here but I’d probably move too. The pagoda isn’t THAT great. You seen it once and you’re good. Wawas? Just a fancy Turkey Hill or 7 Eleven. Dunkin Donuts? Minnesota probably has them. Lake Erie? Right–who the heck is driving to Lake Erie?

So yeah–I’m sure you’ll be happy.

I hope it all works out for you.

Someday I hope to move to West Virginia. I hear Marc Bulger went to school there. I’d like to build a pagoda there.
