I am a diehard. I watch every game.
But not everyone does that.
Where do you stand?
November 1, 2014 at 1:58 am #10936Eternal RamnationParticipantI watch every game but when it’s 30 to 2 in the 4th I’ll hang it up early just to spare my own anguish.
November 1, 2014 at 6:00 am #10940HighPlainsDrifterParticipantI don’t make any special effort to watch. I don’t subscribe to any cable or satellite service, so the Rams are pretty much never on here in Ohio. I don’t make the effort to watch them on the internet. Most of the internet sites seem to be riddled with pop up ads that never stop and are considered a risk to my computer that I am not willing to take. Now, if those things weren’t true would I watch? I probably would watch at least part of it, up to the point at which I can’t take anymore, wherever in the game that might occur. I tend to follow games on NFL.com’s or ESPN.com’s game tracker, again, until I can’t take it anymore. It’s kind of a weird feeling to have a favorite team and know that there really isn’t any expectation of success or that mediocrity would be considered a win. That enthusiasm for the new season was quickly extinguished in that season opening debacle that left me with that “Are you serious?” feeling, which I have become very accustomed to. It is what it is. Maybe it’ll be different some day. Maybe that passion for the team will be rekindled on day. Right now, they just leave me shaking my head.
November 1, 2014 at 7:55 am #10942OahuRamParticipantYeah, I watch every game. Even when it gets really bad.
November 1, 2014 at 8:12 am #10943wvParticipantive given up on the idea of the rams
having a winning season (and I’m
very disappointed in how this team has played so far)But I’ve been following them since 68
so…ya know.As far as the time i put into now,
I just watch Replay when i feel like it
(didnt want to see the KC game). This 2014 team is one of the most
frustrating teams I can ever remember.
I cant recall a team that makes so many
good plays and bonehead plays all mixed
together.w

Fwiw, if you sift through this thread, people have found how to evade those risks. Up to you of course.

November 1, 2014 at 8:57 am #10947sdramParticipantAs to my fan-dumb, I have purchased the NFL package each of the last 5 or 6 years to watch the Rams every week. So I watch every game at least one time – so far I’ve watched every game this season live.
Although this last game I wasn’t paying that much attention to the game after the Chiefs ran the KO back to start the second half. I could feel the blowout coming. I hate blowouts. If things get slow here at the homestead, I may rewatch the Chief’s game sometime before tomorrows game. I DVR every game and the short take version and I’ll watch the short take or parts of it and sometimes more than once.
November 1, 2014 at 9:49 am #10955nittany ramModeratorI also have NFL Sunday Ticket and watch every Rams game unless I’m working. I watch the games in their entirety unless it becomes a rout and/or I’m particularly frustrated. Then I will turn it off or look for a movie. The thing is, I can’t just switch to another game. If the Rams lose, I can’t watch football at all. Too depressing.
November 1, 2014 at 10:46 am #10958TrenchRamParticipantSunday was the first time that I have turned off the game since 2011. I didn’t become a Rams fan until they move to St. Louis, but I was an instant diehard. I had season tickets from 1995 until 2006. The last two of those years I was driving to St. Louis from Ohio for games. I’ve had the Sunday ticket since I moved, and I always start the game unless I am traveling.
Only during Linehan’s tenure and in 2011 did I ever turn games off early. I have a feeling that I will be doing a lot of that this season.
November 1, 2014 at 10:52 am #10961TrenchRamParticipantMy attitude towards the team this year feels more like the Linehan years than 2011. I was already incredibly frustrated with the coaching and poor player execution before this latest rash of injuries. Even when they were sort of competitive, this team didn’t make themselves easy to root for. If the games now become exercises in futility, it will be tough to watch.
November 1, 2014 at 10:53 am #10962InvaderRamModeratorno. lots of things to look forward to this season. watched every game so far. i’m a sunday ticket subscriber too. specifically to watch the rams play.
just been hard lately. i’m a cardinals fan and losing oscar taveras has been particularly hard.
but rams are the team i love the most. but yeah. getting blown out gets tough sometimes. didn’t watch the 4th quarter against kansas city last week.
November 1, 2014 at 12:34 pm #10965PA RamParticipantUnless I have to be somewhere, I watch the games.
Of course, I love nothing more than sticking sewing needles under my fingernails when I have a spare moment.
I no longer have any hope this season–the Rams were kind enough to remove that early so now I watch with less passion–just a simple observer watching some goldfish swim aimlessly around, headed no where really but determined to get there just the same.

IMO there’s improvement and promising players showing through. It’s just not adding up to a coherent whole yet.
So…for example…Donald, Robinson, Quick, Mason. Britt. Cook got better. Barksdale. Gaines.
There’s some stuff. Scattered around.
November 1, 2014 at 1:27 pm #10969InvaderRamModeratori know. just joking. but moving forward. i’m looking for improvement from robinson, bailey, austin, mason, davis, donald, brockers, ogletree, gaines, mcdonald…
also we got barron now. so excited to see what he looks like.

I have to say, there’s more of THAT (interesting promising players) this bad season, than in previous bad seasons.

vNovember 1, 2014 at 10:19 pm #10982cgsuddeathParticipantI have watched all the games this year. The game that I found so difficult to watch was the KC game. After the KO return I just walked out of the room and didn’t watch the rest of the game.

A lot of people say they don’t sit through blow-outs. I am the same. I go in and out…I will leave and do chores and come back or vacuum the room where the game is on etc. That kind of thing. I will turn every game on at the start and sit through close ones, but when it;s a blow-out I allow myself to get distracted.
It’s not the score. I don’t like watching the team when it has lost heart.
Margo is our tivo monitor, meaning, she’s the one who now and then says “should I delete this?” She keeps her eye on the “free” percentage…how much space is left on tivo. Over the years, when it’s a blow-out, she knows to ask. “That was a blow-out, right? Should I delete it?” And I will sound reluctant but still say “yeah…I guess….”

November 2, 2014 at 10:43 am #10998TackleDummyParticipantI will be there today. I watch every game on Sunday Ticket. To the end. But I do not always stay with the Game Time Forum. When people get on and become completely negative I leave. No point, at least not for me. Fisher, Snead, etc. took on a very tough job. To build via the draft is a slow process. It will take more time. But that is not what a lot of fans want to hear. And they vent. But I don’t have to listen.

I actually think it’s pretty mild in the Game Time Forum.
Are people sometimes critical of players and coaches? Sure. Do they deserve the criticism? Sometimes.
But I never get the sense that it gets ugly.
Just my opinion.
Fans will vent. Unless there’s a robot forum somewhere, I think you’ll find that anywhere you go. If football had no emotion no one would watch the games.
But everyone approaches being a fan in their own way and should enjoy the games as they see fit.
The one thing that is certain is that we all want the Rams to do well–to win. That’s one thing we all have in common.

vHow many of the starters in Arz were there before Arians?
Pretty much their entire defense, right?
The defense that started against Phil avgs. 5-6 years experience. Maybe more like 7.
Rams D avgs. 3 or so.
Stuff like that matters IMO.

The last two games I was able to watch, the Cowboys and the Chiefs, I bailed out of the forum when a poster or two came in late and started to vent. That is not for me. But I agree that this forum is much better than most. And I will be on the forum when the Rams game starts. But I will bail again if some turd starts in about how bad the Rams are and doesn’t post anything related to today’s game.

Hey, TD, don’t use language like that okay? It’s just not what we’re about here. We’re a community with lots of guys, lots of views, and they’re all good people. I don’t begrudge you your view of the team, or the desire to bail when the criticism gets thick. But no name-calling. Fair enough?

I dunno. Three years seems like
enough time to build a defense to me.
Especially when you start off with
Quinn and Long and Laurinaitis.I do think youth is a big factor,
but some coaching and personnel decisions
have also been factors. They went
with Dunbar, Finnegan, JJ, Ogletree, Greg Williams, etc.
I dunno if those were the right choices
anymore.w

vOkay, but, these things can take twists and turns. For one, I would absolutely expect a veteran good defense (like in SF or ARZ) to do better…it would be surprising if they didn’t do better. So what are the twists and turns? You suggest coaching, which is always an obvious culprit. I don’t see coaching as the culprit though. This team makes monumental game-killing errors, and then gets into a funk. That’s not coaching, that’s execution. So why did execution collapse this year? I think there are a lot of reasons but they’re all of the kind that afflict young teams, not veteran established teams.
