Gays attacked for no good reason? There are countless knock out videos of black on white violence
How are those 2 things related?
?
Gays are people. Unprovoked violence against people. Why is an unprovoked attack on a gay more heinous than an unprovoked attack on another person regardless of color, religion, etc.?

November 14, 2016 at 1:17 am #58234bnwBlockedi blame it on an increasing disparity in wealth distribution. eliminate that and you see some of these problems disappear. that’s what i suspect anyway. when your security is threatened people start blaming the others. out of fear or whatever. i know it’s not that simple but it’s part of the problem. i think the problems lie MOSTLY upstairs and not down here.
I agree. People need jobs. Good jobs. People need to be able to plan for a future of hope. When that happens the purveyors of divisive politics don’t get much of a following.

i think he’s saying that there are instances of whites being attacked for no good reason
Yeah, that’s what he’s saying, but how is whites being attacked for no good reason related to gays being attacked for no good reason?
Most of the gays attacked would BE white.
And sexuality is not race.
It purports to offer a “turn the tables” symmetry, but there’s no symmetry and the tables didn’t turn.
If I said women often suffer harassment at work, is it much of a response to say yeah but latinos sometimes get unfairly ticketed for speeding?
my guess is what he’s trying to get at is there isn’t the same empathy from mainstream media from politicians for the working class white people who have been getting screwed over.
and yes one’s sexuality is not the same thing as one’s race. gender. also not the same thing as race.
and one can go back and forth about who’s got it worse. and let me be clear i am neither white nor working class nor gay. i’m a heterosexual white collar asian for whatever that’s worth.
but you have multiple groups who are continually getting screwed over. the working class, women, minorities… everyone wants to be heard. no one gets heard. and this is the result.
i think to a certain extent the white working class HAS been forgotten. we get for example shows trying to talk about the struggles of being a woman. being gay. transgender even. black.
but no shows about the struggles of the working class. there used to be. like roseanne for example.
and then you’re being told hey get with us we’re fighting for gender equality, rights for the lgbt community, minorities. and you’re thinking hey. my life is getting shittier and shittier. and you have this 2 party system. where these groups are being represented but you aren’t. and here comes this dude saying hey i’ll fight for you guys. it sucks. it sucks that it’s come to this.
me personally? it’s not going to happen. they think they’re going to be heard. but they’re not. and i hope. that the dems or someone further to the left comes along and says hey dudes. we hear your pain. come join us.
i thought it’d be bernie, but the dems screwed him over. and trump won.
now it’s almost a collective fuck you. it’s like hey now someone can give a shit about us.
i don’t agree with it. but i think i understand it.
November 14, 2016 at 3:00 am #58238InvaderRamModeratorand that’s not to say there isn’t an element of racism among trump supporters. there is. it certainly plays a significant part. misogyny and homophobia. there’s that too.
but i also don’t like how clinton minimized other issues and reduced it down to vote for us or side with racism and misogyny and homophobia.
bernie would not have done that. i truly believe that.

There was a great article during the primaries that was posted here that argued that Dems should nominate Sanders precisely because of this. Because against Hillary, Trump would go low, and she couldn’t leave the “Crooked Hillary” stuff alone, and would have to go low back at him, and that she would inevitably lose a mud-slinging contest. Whereas Sanders would have just kept banging away on wealth, health care, and college education. He would have no need to go to the gutter, and Trump would just look bad in contrast. That was the argument.
November 15, 2016 at 4:14 pm #58438OzonerangerParticipantYou obviously don’t know me well, cuz I’ve been expressing my views on a wide range of subjects, online and off, for decades.
Well, yeah. Of course I don’t know you well. We’ve been exposed to each other’s views for what … 4 days? lol. And how would I know how you conduct yourself offline — for decades?
In short, X, you have no clue who I am.
Again. Clearly. That’s why I asked. You know, to gain a little insight? To get to know you?

True, zooey. But i still am skeptical about the breezy view that Sanders “would have won”. Maybe.
But i dunno. America does not seem like a nation that would elect a socialist to me.Granted, Bernie ran as an FDR progressive.
I dunno. I think it woulda been REAL close.

Not ALL Trump supporters. We dont know what the percentages are.We can guestimate. What would be a high number of overt racists? By that I mean, the kinds that go out and spray paint hate messages on churches. 20,000? That’s .03% of his supporters. If we’re trying to determine how many closet racists there are that support Trump, I think that would be a disingenuous endeavor. Racists are racists, and they can be found everywhere. I’ve already given several examples of high profile people who exhibited racial tendencies who are left-leaning.

vyou’re right. i’m not trying to say among all trump supporters. i mean some trump supporters.
this is gonna keep getting uglier.
i just saw this article about a west virginia mayor who resigned after her response to a facebook post comparing michelle obama to an “ape”…
The mayor of Clay, West Virginia, has resigned and another county official is out following their exchange over a racist Facebook post that compared first lady Michelle Obama to an “ape in heels.”
The county employee, Pamela Taylor, worked as director of the Clay County Development Corporation and wrote on Facebook: “It will be so refreshing to have a classy, beautiful, dignified First Lady back in the White House. I’m tired of seeing a (sic) Ape in heels,” according to a screengrab obtained by CNN affiliate WSAZ.
Mayor Beverly Whaling commented on the post saying: “Just made my day Pam,” the screengrab shows.
Clay County Commissioner Greg Fitzwater confirmed to CNN that Whaling resigned, but did not know if Taylor was terminated or resigned her post. But he said that she was no longer working for the county.
CNN has attempted to reach both Whaling and Taylor for comment and have not heard back.November 16, 2016 at 1:13 am #58527MackeyserModeratorGays attacked for no good reason? There are countless knock out videos of black on white violence that never make the MSM with the exception of FOX News on occasion. That is what Obama has brought. Violence on the left is far more the norm than on the right. Flying the stars and bars isn’t uncommon in the South. Usually the stars and bars flies with the stars and stripes. You should know that living there and it isn’t a protest against a trans child. Why you fear Trump I cannot fathom.
I live in Florida and at least in this corner of the deep south… the stars and bars do NOT fly with the American flag. That’s just horseshit. Patently false. If there’s room for two flags, you get two stars and bars.
It’s rare to see them together. RARE.
But more importantly, I refuse to engage in equivocation. WRONG IS WRONG. PERIOD.
So, not only don’t I give a shit about “knock out videos”, I’m not talking about them nor will I. If you wish to champion that cause, then do that. I’ll be glad to hear your arguments and maybe if the argument is valid, I’ll change my mind and begin to care.
Beyond that, my child has real concerns because real violence is happening in the LGBTQ+ community. That’s real and doesn’t require equivocation, defense or mitigation. It’s just a fact and violence based on identity is simply unAmerican.

So apparently you do see both flags flying together since you said “rare”. Then your part of FL is not culturally the “Deep South”. Same for perhaps most of FL at that. So many transplants from the NE, midwest, caribbean the last 20 years.

I have a trans child. I could tell you if you’d like to know.
The acronym is LGBTQPIAK (some spell it LGBTQIAPK)
I’d be happy to go through each one, what each means and briefly why they are important.
If you’re serious about understanding. Honestly.
