den-the-coach

Mariota was over hyped because he was the anti-Winston, Mariota has everything from the neck up, but he’s just an average signal caller, he has to be on the move to be effective and defenses limit him when he’s in the pocket and the primary receiver is covered, he does not have the ability to go through his progressions…..
Winston on the other hand has that ability, but is a punk and like GROB, football came too easy to him, so easy, he felt he was entitled to other things….Wonder if he even gets his job back with the Harvard Grad now manning the post and Fitzpatrick has a history of being good for one year.
Goff & Wentz were totally different from those two, not only do they have the talent, but both are extremely smart from the neck up plus both of them are football junkies….
Deshaun Watson is very good and staying healthy is the key for him, not sure how the injury will affect him and limit his running and if that is the case, it will limit his ceiling, but he’s the best QB the Texans have ever had and if he stays healthy gives them a chance each week. Patty Mahomes looks very special and being coached by Andy Reid seems to be a huge plus as Kansas City makes the transition from Offense being number 1 and their defense being not so good…I feel a defense can never sleep on a Mahomes, but I also would like to see him under duress.
Mitch Trubisky has an accountant’s name and has a higher floor than ceiling, however, he now has a Head Coach who specializes in offense and besides Sid Luckman and Jim McMahon, the Chicago Bears have not had a good history of Field Generals, so I expect Trubisky to be there for a long time. Paxton Lynch I would take a chance on as a backup, big athletic and had over 60% accuracy in college, albeit mostly short sideline routes that padded the numbers, but he’s big, athletic with a good arm. However, something might be missing from the neck up. Needs a good QB Coach and QB whisperer to turn him around, thought he’d be a good backup in Los Angeles or Philadelphia with McVay or Pederson.
As to the five QB’s drafted in 2018 and who will make it, obviously Sam Darnold is off to a great start and I expect him to be very special and could be the best QB in NY Jet history barring injury as always….Baker Mayfield will be solid, but will wow you one week and break your heart the next…Mayfield has moxy, but I will always take the guy who is bigger, stronger and actually just as fast in the 40 too. Darnold is more athletic than people realize so all things being equal, including football IQ, I will take the less risky player and that IMO is Darnold, who I think will exceed Mayfield, but we are splitting hairs at this point….
Josh Allen, accuracy never improves at the next level and eventually Buffalo might realize that, but he could be another Andy Dalton just a tease for the people of Western NY…Lamar Jackson is the next Vince Young, but might have a longer shelf life..Josh Rosen, if he can stay healthy could be very good, but he’s built like a Tennis Player and might not hold up for the long haul….
As always, JMHO.
