    The one on Persia is long long overdue.

    The Spartans were so fiercely military because their slaves, the Helots, outnumbered them 8 to 1. They just needed to be a purely military social system to maintain power over their slaves.

    But some people still buy the “Sparta fought for freedom” bs.
