    Blaine Gabbert is the “enormous favorite” to start at quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers Week 1 of the regular season over Colin Kaepernick according to Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News.

    Kawakami acknowledges it’s still “possible” Chip Kelly opts for Kaepernick, but states “all current signs point to Gabbert.” And Kawakami does not seem to believe that Gabbert will be chosen because he is the better quarterback or the better fit for Kelly’s offensive system. .” It is no secret Trent Baalke is a tyrannical GM, and Kawakami says Baalke and CEO Jed York view Gabbert as a quarterback they can “control,” whereas Kaepernick is more of a wild card. In other words, Kap is a “Harbaugh guy”, which apparently is a sin these days in the 49ers universe.

    To the rest of the league and the 49ers fans, being a “Harbaugh guy” more likely means you remember when the team competed for Super Bowls.
