By now you know that Jared Goff was selected as the first overall pick in the NFL Draft by the LA Rams, but what you might not know is what went into the decision.
On Thursday Goff joined Fox’s Jay Glazer, Peter Schrager and Joel Klatt on Fox Sports Radio, where Glazer shared an interesting story about Goff’s workout with the Rams.
According to Glazer, the Rams had a workout with Goff set up, but were ready to cancel it when a rainstorm came in. Goff however was unfazed, decided to work out in the lousy conditions, and according to Glazer, ultimately that one decision played a huge role in the Rams selecting Goff first overall.
Here is the back-and-forth between Glazer and Goff from the interview.
Glazer: One of the things the Rams told me they loved about you is that when you had your workout, they were trying to give you a little time there, that it wasn’t raining, and you said pshh, ‘I don’t care.’ And as it got wetter and wetter, the ball you were throwing got better and better.
Goff: Yeah, that workout was in the rain, and (it) was something I wasn’t really worried about. I just went out there and threw it, threw it like I always have, and as it turns out they were pretty impressed that day.
It really is a fascinating story, and does give great insight into what makes Goff such an intriguing prospect besides his obvious God given gifts.
The guys touched on a number of different topics with the new face of the LA Rams, and we encourage you to listen to the audio here:
