    The Dolphins will announce Adam Gase as 12th next head coach at a 3 p.m. press conference, Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.

    The organization confirmed the hire a short time later.

    “We did exhaustive research on all of the candidates ahead of time and conducted thorough and detailed interviews with each person,” said Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. “In the end, I was convinced and the search committee was unanimous Adam was the right leader for our football team who best met all of our priorities. He has high-energy is competitive and driven to win with a mindset of teaching and developing players. ”

    Gase, just 37 but viewed around the league as a rising star, emerged as the top choice of seven candidates to interview with the franchise, including interim coach Dan Campbell.
