Roger Saffold was a good LT a few years ago. I remember how shocked and upset some of us were at first when Fisher brought in Jake Long to replace him.

Greg Robinson is a beast but he’s struggling at LT. Remember his rookie year he played left guard and showed flashes? He’s got the quickness to get out in front of runners and the strength to pancake anyone.

Assuming for a moment that Saffold returns to the Rams and is healthy (big assumption, I know), I wonder how it would work out if he moved back to LT and Robinson was moved to LG.

The o-line would look like this before any additional upgrades…

    Saffold, Robinson, Barnes, Brown, Havenstein

If nothing else, that would be a formidable run blocking line.

Draft or sign someone to eventually replace Saffold or for insurance in case he gets hurt. Robinson could be moved back to LT in necessary.

That would work for three games–until Saffold got hurt again.

But I agree that Robinson has been a failure at LT so they may as well move him to guard and see if they can salvage something from him. I just worry that whatever the position–his head is just not in the game. You may not be able to fix that.

As for LT–you don’t need an all-pro–just someone who can stay healthy and knows the game. I’d mine free agency this year for someone but not a Jake Long who had health questions before you signed him and was fading. I wouldn’t want to roll the dice on a rookie who may or may not be a bust. There’s more urgency with this team.

    IMO?

GR will work out fine at LOT in spite of struggling this year.

Yeah, I’ve thought about that I think GR
might very well belong at guard. I dunno.

Sure, but if a stud LT falls to them in the draft
    do you take him?

based on how he looks like now i would say yes. but hopefully this isn’t how he looks at the end of the year.

i also think it depends on who’s available. like if a stud wr or a stud qb or was available.
