Cooper Kupp-Deebo Samuel story
Year after year at the Sr Bowl, there is a WR the public falls for because of inefficient movements off the line that look dynamic because so many drills are two-way-go opportunities.
For a two-year period on—a staff used a great drill…
They placed cones about 3-4 yards apart and had the WRs face press-man. They could not veer outside the specified width of the field.
Wr after Wr failed every rep. Deebo Samuel was in one of those groups. Was very apparent press was a weakness of his gm.
That said, we see his NFL team is a good fit for his skills and they are a rather unique skill set that makes him the exception.
There was only one WR who won a rep in the two years I watched this drill. And that WR won all but 1 rep in the drill—and did it with different moves
Yep, Cooper Kupp. A guy some say can’t defeat press and is schemed so he doesn’t have to.
