from PFF, Regrading the 2020 NFL Draft classes

    https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-regrading-2020-nfl-draft-classes-tampa-bay-buccaneers-minnesota-vikings#LAR

    LOS ANGELES RAMS
Round 2 (52): RB Cam Akers, Florida State
Round 2 (57): WR Van Jefferson, Florida
Round 3 (84): EDGE Terrell Lewis, Alabama
    Round 3 (104): S Terrell Burgess, Utah
Round 4 (136): TE Brycen Hopkins, Purdue
Round 6 (199): S Jordan Fuller, Ohio State
Round 7 (234): LB Clay Johnston, Baylor
Round 7 (248): K Sam Sloman, Miami (Ohio)
Round 7 (250): OT Tremayne Anchrum, Clemson

    Then: C
    Now: B-

There wasn’t a ton to write home about from the Rams’ rookie class, as they still want to see more from their top picks, but the play of Jordan Fuller certainly qualifies. He earned a 65.6 overall grade on 844 snaps with three picks and two pass breakups. He looks like he’ll be a mainstay in the starting lineup out for Los Angeles — a massive win for a sixth-rounder.

Lions assistant coach explains why Aaron Donald is the best cornerback ever

    * https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/23/lions-assistant-coach-explains-why-aaron-donald-is-the-best-cornerback-ever/

A cornerback’s best friend is a pass rush, and Lions secondary coach Aubrey Pleasant spent the last four years with one of the best pass rushers of all time.

Pleasant, who for the last four years was the cornerbacks coach of the Rams, says that defensive tackle Aaron Donald did more to help the Rams’ cornerbacks than anyone else. As Pleasant sees it, the relentless pressure Donald put on opposing quarterbacks was an enormous boost to the Rams’ cornerbacks.

“I joke and tell people that the greatest corner I’ve ever played with is Aaron Donald,” Pleasant said, via the Detroit Free Press. “In order to be a successful football team, things have to marry and they have to collaborate. And I think the pass rush, as well as the ability to play sticky coverage no matter what your philosophy is, I think they go hand in hand and I think when those things work together, it makes it very difficult for opposing offenses.”

Unfortunately for the Lions, they don’t have an Aaron Donald-like pass rusher. Few teams do.

When you start ranking the top 32 OGs in the NFL you get a greater appreciation of why the Jets were willing to trade up and get Vera-Tucker.

I’m not saying it’s the right move btw, I’m just saying that when you see there’s like 15 good Gs in the NFL you can understand a team thinking they have to make a move to secure one.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford on getting on field w/ new teammates for first time:

“I feel (a sense of urgency) from those guys, I hope they feel it from me. Every time I drop back and throw the ball, I want it to be in the right spot, and when it’s not, I’m not happy with myself.”

    from https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/05/25/leonard-floyd-feels-rams-defensive-scheme-is-the-same-under-raheem-morris/

Former Falcons defensive coordinator and interim head coach Raheem Morris is now the Rams’ third defensive coordinator in three years, following Wade Phillips and Staley. But after last year’s success, the scheme apparently will not change much in 2021.

“I feel like it’s the same,” outside linebacker Leonard Floyd said of the defensive playbook on Monday. “We’re just touching up on some plays that we could’ve ran better as a defense. But yeah, pretty much the same.”

Not sure Ellard takes a back seat to Torry or Ike.
    I dunno.
