The #Rams defense features some of the highest football IQ’s in the #NFL, and Jared Goff understands the value in tapping into them to help his development.Cameron DaSilva@camdasilva
For the first time in his career, Jared Goff has the same group of receivers in L.A. – and he is l-o-v-i-n-g it—
Nice byproduct of Donald being in #RamsCamp according to McVay: C Allen & LG Noteboom can acclimate to stress of dealing with 2x Defensive PoY *before* making their first NFL start.

Looks like #Rams Andrew Whitworth getting the day off today. so looks like with Whitworth out, Noteboom slides to LT and Demby takes over for Noteboom at LG. So basically, for now, Noteboom is the swing tackle in case of injury.I know we can be victims of “they’re in the greatest shape ever” training camp hyperbole. But in case of #Rams OL Joe Noteboom and Jamil Demby there is a noticeable change in how they look from last year to this year.
Second-team tackles for #Rams today are rookies Bobby Evans (L) and David Edwards (R)

SIRIUS VISITS RAMS, SOME NOTES
Here’s what I heard so far….
Demoff said they studied the GSOT team that should have lasted 8 or 9 years, not 3. They try to learn from that every day so it doesn’t happen again.
Got a bit defensive about extending Goff when interviewer said everyone knows it’s just a matter of when. Demoff said not everyone just you.
Talking about Watts Rams new uniforms, Kevin said a lot of people are asking is that new look for the 2020 Rams. He paused and said you’ll have to wait and see.
Les said they let Saffold (who is a very good OG) go so they could keep all the young guys intact. Rather do 2nd contracts (like Havenstein) than 3rd contracts. They are planning ahead. That’s what Noteboom and Allen were about. Sounded like part of the lesson learned from GSOT collapse.
Gurley said he feels good. Only needs 2 weeks to get in the groove since he knows his body well and how it works in TC.
Holt and TG talked a lot about offseason travel.
Goff up next…
Torry predicted Goff would throw 40 TDs this year. Jared said he’ll try to hold up his end.
Goff said the narrative around Gurley is unfair. He said nothings changed with Todd. Same guy. Just had a little soreness down the stretch.
Goff talked about how smart Kupp is. How he reminded him about stuff at the LOS.
Said he worked with Allen last year when Sully had days off, so nothing new here.
Said he excited to see how the young guys play, especially Henderson. Won’t know how good he is until they get pads on. Also the young guys on defense.
Torry said Gurley looks good from what he’s seen. Said he knows what an arthritic knee feels like and it hurts. It’s mentally draining as well. Thinks Rams have right plan to keep Gurley fresh. He thinks Henderson will help, also mentioned Kelly being a help.
Torry said he likes Long, very good in man to man, watching him at practice today.
Donald said McVay is the reason he’s happy to be an LA Ram.
Torry was slobbering all over Donald. Said he has everything, reached the top, and doesn’t slack one bit, keeps learning every day. Said AD will be in the class with Deacon and Merlin. The all time great Rams.
Kupp said he needs to relearn nuances.
Said he thought Goff was great last year but sees a major step up from him this year. His command of the offense and understanding coverages.

Every time I look up #Rams WR Josh Reynolds is doing something good. People talk about how good the trio of Cooks/Woods/Kupp is, but Rams are absolutely four deep in terms of top-end talentInteresting to watch all the various deployment points #Rams HC Sean McVay is launching his running backs so far in camp. Can tell you this: there is creativity in how he’ll make defenses defend the RB’s – and keep them guessing on pass/run use no matter where they line up.
Super impressive 11 on 11 period for Jared Goff against a first-team defense that was doing all sorts of stuff in front of him to confuse and get pressure on him. He responded by delivering three straight throws into tight windows.
The #Rams are throwing a lot at their young offensive linemen – including a mid-season form Aaron Donald – and they’ve responded well, including a strong day on Tuesday.
Interesting observation from #Rams Joe Noteboom to me on Matthews/Fowler/growth of others on D. line and what it means up front: “Now we have guys across the whole board. They can’t go to (A. Donald) because someone else gets free now. Even we aren’t sliding to AD every time.”
Rich Hammond@Rich_Hammond
Hmm. I’m sure Noteboom didn’t mean it this way, but last year the Rams had…Ndamukong Suh…right next to Donald.J.B. Long@JB_Long

— CB Aqib Talibas Talib noted, Donald is so fast that sometimes the corner can’t even get to his assignment before the defensive tackle has already destroyed the play in the backfield.

As we watch the trial by fire Sean McVay likes to put the O-line through in 11 on 11 periods, getting a good look at the multiple ways Wade Phillips will use Clay Matthews in collaboration with Samson Ebukam and Dante Fowler and the rest of a versatile D-line.“It might suck during practice. But it’s really extremely beneficial.” #Rams OL Joe Noteboom on how learning under fire is benefiting the Rams young offensive line.

July 31, 2019 at 6:11 pm #103508znModeratorfrom Rams Q&A: Vinny Bonsignore
I …think the whole experience, including the bad one in the Super Bowl, is hugely important for their growth and development. And that includes Sean.
[Gurley]’s gone two days at full speed and gotten two days off. He looks fine physically. Now it’s just a matter of keeping it that way, and the Rams are following a practice/usage plan in order to help make sure that is the case
[Allen:] You can tell he’s got a lot of wrestler in him. He’s a brawler. He’s 6-2 but is all-day strong and he knows how to get leverage. The wrestling background really helps.
I’m stunned at how good and healthy [Kupp has] looked.
I was watching Rapp a lot yesterday, really liked his coverage skills against TE’s
I’ve been a big-time Goff guy all along. He keeps getting better and I think as he moves into the prime of his career he’s going to elevate to and maintain a consistently high-level of performance. I do notice a lot of shorter, intermediate throws, which I think is totally by design
If [Henderson] has command of the playbook I think he’s got a chance to really carve out a role for himself. He brings a lot to the table
Both the tight ends have looked good and I’ve seen them being used quite a bit – even on screens and short patterns in the middle of the field. I think there is an effort in place to involve the TE’s in different ways to help offset the kinds of defensive game plans team were throwing at them late in the season.
David Edwards is a big ol dude, and I think in time he’s got a real chance. Anxious to see both him and Bobby Evans in-game action. That is the truest test. Ideally the Rams have two development guys who can at least be swing linemen down the road and potentially become starters. Lot of work to go between now and then
Really impressed with Sebastian Joseph-Day. That’s a big man who moves piles. Morgan Fox is absolutely making his presence felt. Obviously AD and Brockers. John Franklin-Myers. It’s a different group and they’ll be used differently than last year. A lot of bodies with different skill sets

SIRIUS VISITS RAMS, SOME NOTES
Couple of more things that stuck in my mind.
McVay reiterated the stuff Robinson said about Goff, bigger and more quick twitched physically. Continuing to take the next steps.
Woods said McVay is giving Goff half of the play call before the 15 sec mark now and telling him to work it out on his own. He’s putting more on Goff and Goff is getting it.
Holt said he didn’t like what he heard from McVay during the SB saying stuff like “I can’t wait to see what Bill does on this play”. Torry said just run your stuff, do what you do. He said it showed that McVay wasn’t ready for this game, and it bothered him. Expects him to learn a lot from his first time there.
Peters sounds like a different guy. Very professional without the attitude. He said he had off year, and knows what he needs to do this year, much more comfortable now in this defense.

love reading stuff like this. and it just reinforces my belief that the rams really hit on mcvay. and it gives me hope that goff just continues to rise.
also wondering if the oline, particularly noteboom and allen, get reps in the preseason games.
