Al Franken – U.S. Senator, Minnesota
“Telecom companies filed a pair of lawsuits Monday in an attempt to reverse the Federal Communications Commission’s new net neutrality rules.” — National Journal, 3/23/15
    Dear Zooey,

    Man, that was fast.

The FCC voted only 4 weeks ago to adopt rules that protect net neutrality. And ALREADY the big telecom companies are suing to get rid of them.

They will do everything they can to reverse our victory. That’s why I need you to stand with me for net neutrality — again.

Show the telecom companies that you’re still fighting for net neutrality. Click here to sign my petition.

The companies say they’re suing so soon after the vote “out of an abundance of caution.” That’s one way to put it. Another, more accurate, way to put it would be to say that they’re suing because they don’t like net neutrality.

Net neutrality levels the playing field for businesses and protects free speech online. Net neutrality also means that telecom companies can’t charge extra for “fast lanes” — you can see why the Internet service providers don’t like it.

They can try to use the courts to roll back the progress we’ve made. But no matter what they do, we’ll be there to fight for the most important free speech issue of our time. Join me in supporting net neutrality against this latest threat.

    Thanks,

    Al

Even though you starred in “Good Morning Vietnam”, I think your posting of the above letter for the sole purpose of rubbing our collective noses in the fact that you are on a first name basis with Al Franken demonstrates you are a person of low quality.

“In fact, I suspect that our only hope is disaster. Cruel tho’ it is to say it, there has got to be a vast die-off in the human population — likely including us and our families — before the survivors find themselves in a world where a new and humble and ‘religious’ adaptation with nature is possible. Disaster is not necessary; the better world could be achieved through reason and common sense and a sense of fellowship — but most of the present human world is dead set against us…”

That’s funny because he was telling me over lunch that all his friends are razzing him about being on a first name basis with me.
