What will you say when Trump wins?

    ————

    I would just say
    i was wrong.

It won’t surprise me if Trump wins. The race is tightening a great deal, primarily because a lot of #nevertrump folks have decided to vote GOP anyway. He’s not winning over new voters. He’s not expanding his tent. But the gap between the two was mostly due to a lack of GOP support for Trump — and opposition to him from women and pretty much every minority in America. The latter may not be enough in such a divided nation.

If the Dems had nominated a better candidate, one without all of the Clinton baggage, I think this election would have been over months ago. There are dozens of Dems and independents who could have crushed Trump, easily one of the most ignorant, hate-filled, vindictive and unqualified people to ever run for the office.

To me, it was self-centered of HRC to run, and the Democratic Party basically cleared the field for her. It was “her turn,” supposedly. So they ignored all the signs and the vast majority of potential candidates chose to stand on the sidelines. The result is a close race that could go either way.

    _____________________________________________________________________________________

I know a number of people, friends and family, who usually vote Dem, but are skipping the Prez ticket and only voting for local offices. That doesn’t translate to a national referendum, I know that. But Hillary may not get the bump with indies and right leaning Dems that she needs.

You say that if anyone other than Hillary had been nominated, it would be over. What about the GOP side? If Rubio had been nominated, would the GOP have it in the bag right now?

    Something to think about.

Well Buchannon is half-right — He’s right about Hillary being a Weasel.

He’s wrong about Trump — Trump is a weasel too.

So, yes, it will be a Prezidency from Hell — either way.

    So true.
I found it interesting how you spelled “PreZidency.”

Do you remember “Prez” by DC Comics?

The FBI just announced it has re-opened the e-mail investigation because of new evidence.
Probably too late to effect the election, but even with Richard Nixon the nation and his own party had a tipping point where everything was lost.
Hillary’s tipping point is probably steeper than Nixon’s, but I predict it will come, either now, or when she is president and the evidence becomes overwhelming of the corruption staining her.

The Rams play losing teams for the next 6 games.

If Fisher isn’t at least .500 in that streak, he should be replaced this offseason.

The injury set him behind. He has to catch up. It was a knee but then that probably meant he wasn’t running full speed. I think the injury was all healed up a few weeks ago and the rest is getting up to actual speed executing the offense in practice. Then on game days, you have to ask who he replaces. They’re not going to sit Tavon, and Britt and Quick are playing well. Marquez is important on special teams. I suppose Thomas can sit, but then maybe Thomas is ahead of him in terms of executing the offense.

All good points. I forgot about special teams, and they have been great so far. Not sure I want to change anything there.

My guess now is we wait until the coaches think he is fully up to speed on the offense. I’d like to see what he’s got in a 4 WR set. 2 wide and 2 slot receivers. I think he can move some chains.

    Special teams are important.
When asked recently about the downfall of those great ’70’s Rams teams, Jack Youngblood responded he thought the special teams were a problem, along with not having a star QB.

Seems to me it’s the BLM who hates the government the most and are most dependent on the government financially, not the Tea Party folks. Tea Party people don’t hate the government. They are in favor of limited government, which was the general thought of the Constitutional fathers. And I am not a Tea Party member.

BLM has never expressed “hatred for the government.” That’s only the fuzzy false picture you get of them if all you know is what detractors say about them and don’t know what they themselves actually say. And the idea that those associated with BLM are more government dependent does not bear much close scrutiny.

We don’t listen to the constitutional fathers, who were very skeptical about letting corporate power dominate democracy. Basically that’s what we ended up with. If we had listened to them we would not have ended up with that. Interestingly part of the reason we suffer a system that limits democracy (because of the power the corporate world and the wealthy exercise over it) is because those forces used the “limit government” mantra to manipulate people. That just gave more power to them.

    _________________________________________________________________

    Allow me to re-phrase that.
The founding fathers were in favor of limited

      federal

    government, for the most part.

As far as state government, very few had problems with wide reaching government.

I’m really hoping for this story-line — All these Non-brady-QBs win their games. And the Pats go 4-0 without Brady.

And then Brady comes in, and they lose 12 in a row.

    That would please me.

Just so everyone knows where I am coming from: I believe these 2 candidates are the worst ones I have ever seen in the years since I have been able to follow elections (1968).
Either way, there are major flaws and America will pay for it.
My major issue is the Supreme Court. I know which way Hillary will go and I don’t like it. The Supreme Court will be able to make up its own laws for the next 20-30 years as a self-appointed royalty.
The Donald is behind in both polling and the electoral vote. As he would say, “Not good, not good.”
But Wikileaks isn’t done yet. I believe there could be something very major in these next release of documents that may tie Hillary directly to a criminal act. She did learn well from her days as a Democratic lawyer during the Nixon investigations and covered her butt well, however, we will soon see how well.
I may be wrong, wouldn’t be the first time, but something is up and Wikileaks could bring a major turnabout in this election.

    http://www.turfshowtimes.com/2016/9/5/12797936/should-the-rams-pursue-robbie-gould

“Surprising news came from Chicago late last night when it was announced that the Bears had release longtime kicker Robbie Gould. Gould had struggled with accuracy this preseason, but has a career 85.4% completion percentage.

Greg Zuerlein, on the other hand is an enigmatic kicker who has sporadic support among Rams fans. I mean who doesn’t love to see someone hit 60 yard bombs? But those bombs become a bit tougher to watch when you consider that Zuerlein has a career 78.2% completion percentage (66.7% in 2015).

That being said, Gould is 34 while Zuerlein is only 28. It’s also worth noting that when he’s not asked to attempt 9 50+ FGs in a season, ‘Legatron’ generally does pretty well. Of his 26 missed FGs in his career, only 11 have come from inside 50 yards.

If long distance kicking is your argument though, you might want to slow down and take a look at Gould’s stats as well. Gould is 23-31 from 50+ in his career – vs. 16-31 from Zuerlein. One might ask why a 5th year kicker has as many 50+ attempts as a 11 year vet, but that’s a discussion for another day…

I gotta feeling 12 months from now, the Rams will have a
No.1 WR for him to throw to, which should help.

One would think thats the no.1 need at this point,

I thought Bradford had a one-year deal, and was a FA after this season. This is interesting.

And it seems like giving up a #1 for a one-year rental who will take a few weeks to get going is a high price. The Vikings must really believe they are close to make that move.

I gotta think the Vikes are not taking Bridgewater’s return next year for granted. And they probably shouldn’t.

Evidently, the HERD board doesn’t allow intelligent discussion about this morning’s trade.
Biggest news in the NFL today.
Anyway, I believe most everyone here is intelligent and manages civil discussion well.

    So, I have a question:

I know the Eagles picked up about $11M of SB’s contract this year, leaving the Vikes with $8M. On the Overthecap website, they indicate that SB carries a $22M cap hit next year. What will happen if Bridgewater is able to return next year? Will the Vikes have to eat $22 M just to keep SB, or to cut him? How can the Vikes expect any other team to be willing to trade for an oft-injured QB for a $22M hit?

The FBI actually tricked her at one point, showing her an e-mail that the FBI had attached a “C” to, trying to pass it off as marked classified. She noticed it and said that the email wasn’t classified and marked in error.
    She knew the system.
Also she signed off on a State e-mail indicating that no one was to have private email systems, yet she had one.
There’s more people. And Wikileaks isn’t done yet.

Again, as I’ve said before, this year’s major party choices are horrible, and it doesn’t look like the 3rd party candidates are gathering steam either. But how can we choose the next Richard Nixon in female form to lead this nation?

Even though I think the offense is going to get better, I think the defense will look a lot like the 60’s Rams–great D-line but average otherwise.

And then, there is historical evidence out there that ties these lines in the 3rd verse to the British habit of using hired mercenaries and captured American soldiers who were forced to work on the British behalf.

Nonetheless, even if the lyrics are meant in bigotry (it is known that FS Key owned slaves), it is clear that 99.9% of Americans don’t even know that 3rd verse and the vast majority would never sing them. Trying to tie past viewpoints to current understanding doesn’t seem fair to people who are alive today. Those should remain with the dead.

    Good words there, zn.

While I believe in free speech, I also believe one must be wise in what they say publicly. Words reflect back and, in this case, can hurt the team and efforts to both unify the team and reach out to the fan base.

If I spoke out on every issue I thought strongly about, probably half of my patients would be upset or feel alienated somehow. That’s not fair to them.

Thanks for the taking the starting block, zn.
    Good comments.
    My short thoughts:
    1. The O-line will be fine. I’m an O-line first type of guy and I think they are showing what we need to see.
    2. RB’s are solid. I hope they keep Gurley, too! 🙂
    3. The offense does need more consistency on drives, but I’m more certain they will more this year than I’ve seen in the recent past. The one’s have not been out there much and we see some rising stars who will help immediately.
    4. D penalties. What was up with all the offsides? It looked like they were starving and the meat was hanging from the QB. And Ayers, a vet at that?
    5. The passing game has pretty much been kept under cover so far. Not much with longer passes yet. Keenum will not be a threat to air it out. That pass to Brit with the PI was way under thrown. Once Goff gets up to speed, the longer passes will return.
    6. Goff struggled. Obviously. But I think he is the answer we’ve been waiting for. We just have to wait longer. I’m fine with that.
    7. WR is still a work in progress. I hope time helps, as we don’t have a #1 pick next year. I just hope the Rams can keep their defense strong while we wait on the O to gel, as that is the key to a SB team.
