If this doesn’t cement a Trump victory, nothing will.

If the Dems had any brains, they’d nominate a corporatist like Gavin Newsom who’d make Trump look silly in a debate while appeasing the donor class, but nope… just like with Roe, everything will be allowed to wither and die so the feckless Dems can fundraise harder…

    it’s vomit inducing

We found a house! We should be able to move in early August. It’s a bit south of Minneapolis which works so my mom can be closer to the Mayo Clinic. Nothing bad, just in network.

The entire family LOVES Minnesota! My good friend in Austin, TX is super jealous rn since he won’t be able to move his family up here until next summer. Was 68 up here with light rain… was 105 in Austin…

We did it!!! We’re in Minnesota and get into our temp house tomorrow. Then the search for a new home begins!

Super happy to be doing it multi-generationally and the journey up here was harrowing at times, but ultimately very fun and we all bonded really nicely.

What’s happening in apartheid Israel isn’t shocking, but it is sickening and devastating in every sense of the word.

that the state of Israel has become the genocidal state it is now is heartbreaking for all the civilians in both sides that simply desire peace.

    the unadulterated pictures are horrific.

i know the pain of losing a child. I can’t imagine the pain of losing one’s entire family in a blast. Targeting hospitals and schools?

Welp, we got waylaid in this move, but if we’re staying in the States, Minneapolis area is back on.

Gonna make another trip back there, hopefully this summer or fall and get the lay of the land. I think we’ll stick with open houses this time as I don’t want to waste a realtor’s time and I have zero idea about the timeline we’re on.

But yeah… with this ruling about to be formally announced in June and then all the fucker that’s gonna come from it… we’re ready to gtfo.

We’re doing a refi now to eliminate our debt and from there, we’ll see, but we’ll be a ton less encumbered and better able to make moves if something really amazing comes available.

Also not moving with the same crew. Oldest daughter is married and they like North Carolina. I dunno how this ruling will change their outlook. They live with my youngest son and his partner (no definitions and that’s fine) and they are looking at Oregon.

My youngest wants to be in Minneapolis as they are non-binary queer and pagan and it’s apparently a very LGBT+ and pagan friendly town from their research… among the friendliest, actually.

They, along with my eldest son, my soon to be daughter in law and our two grandchildren live with us now.

I know my youngest would come with us, but I do not know if my son, DIL and grand babies will want to move north. The economics may not allow them to stay and we’re not wanting to stay just for their preference. She’s a born and raised Floridian and has tons of family in FL and SC and I don’t think ultimately she wants to move, but again… the economics…

we’ll see how it all shakes out, but at this point, unless something drastic happens, it’s a matter of when, not if we move.

There’s an off-chance an international move is on the table, but I honestly can’t see it. The moment the wife realizes we’d be an ocean away from kids and grandkids, she’ll nix the idea…

Anyway, stay tuned… I’m sure there’s more to come in this dramedy…

    Yeah, Jack, I saw that…

When I said that with the way Alito’s opinion was written as an all out attack on “right to privacy”, I meant it…

Roe v Wade and Casey v Planned Parenthood are already completely done

Obergfell v Hodges (gay marriage), Lawrence v Texas (anti-sodomy laws) and Griswold v Connecticut (contraception) are ALREADY being either outright gone after or the preparations are in place.

Several state AGs have stated that they will essentially refuse to follow Obergfell or Lawrence in an outright challenge and since even without hearing arguments or getting evidence or testimony, Alito’s opinion with 5 Justices states that Obergfell and Lawrence were wrongly decided and we can expect Griswold to fall as well.

Moreover, women in Missouri (and apparently Louisianna) have already been called by some Drs to have their IUDs removed as they expect them to become illegal in the state the moment the Roe decision is announced, signaling that these states and likely others plan to make all contraception illegal the moment the Roe decision is announced. This will include the MANDATORY removal of IUDs and other implants as well as pill surrender/confiscation and removal of all contraception from condoms to Plan B and RU486 pills

So yeah… Loving v Virginia is likely to be challenged as well as viewing porn (a number of precedents apply here, but they’ll go after any and all that rely on “right to privacy”

This fucking place is now on a RAMjet to a Christofascist theocracy and I’m just not here for it.

My wife for the first time in our lives, been together 35 years now, is asking “so… what country do we move to?”

This is someone who can’t stand to be away from her grown children or baby/7yo grandchildren for a few days without getting the grandma jitters…

Welp, considering I live in FL, the den of evil, aka the home of Ron DeSantis, very likely our next President…

    fuck…

Yeah, we’re moving likely to MN in the next two years.

My youngest is Non-Binary Trans and I’m sure if we don’t have it we will have trigger laws in effect not only to make abortion illegal in all cases here in FL, but also they’ll set up to challenge Obergfell and Lawrence, thus making gay marriage illegal and making gay sex illegal in this fucked up state.

CO is the most forward, but so much CA money has gone to the state that it’s too expensive… and we like MN and it’s super LGBT friendly

Prolly gonna take a few years to make it happen, but yeah… it’s on now…

My thing is like the guy in the Tiktok with the wife with cancer… If you don’t trust medicine, at least be like a 7th Day Adventist and refuse all medical care.

    One tiny little thing there:

7th-day Adventists don’t refuse medical care. I know. I was brought up a 7th-day Adventist. My grandpa, my dad, and one of my idiot brothers were all doctors. Loma Linda University is one of the most reputable medical universities in the country, and it is a 7th-day Adventist institution. Medical care is actually the SDA’s strong point.

You may be thinking of Jehovah’s Witnesses, who refuse blood transfusions, or Christian Scientists, who have made headlines refusing health care. In the latter case, though, their official belief is that prayer works better when there is no medical interference (which has led to people “proving” their faith), but most adherents do access health care for most needs.

Yes, you’re right. I did mean Christian Scientists…

I feel so disconnected from the Christian community these days.

To say I HATE the people who by the Bible are NOT Christians, but seem in charge of all things Christian is an understatement… sorta like saying one of those 1 Million Scoville peppers is a tad hot…

Mea culpa. Also, good catch. I’d rather be corrected than get something wrong, even if by accident, and have it left.

    I love science.

That said, that thumbnail is DUMB.

Water is heavy af. There’s no way in hell that they’d put a pool on a dirigible, let alone such a massive one.

And why does every “future” mode of transport look like first class or better?

The reality is that for any mode to be “commercially viable”, meaning the ability to skim billions in profit from the business for shareholders, they’ll pack as many people into one as they can… OR… allow people space, but charge out the damn wazoo.

But yeah… that pool kinda triggered me a lil bit…

    He also corrected Peter Jackson.

They were filming a scene where Lee as Saruman gets stabbed in the back by Grima Wormtongue and he’d directed Lee to make a certain sound.

Lee responded: that’s not the sound a man makes when he’s been stabbed in the back.” He then proceeded to demonstrate what it does sound like.

Peter Jackson was spooked because of the absolute authority Lee dispensed the information.

“Okay, Mr. Lee. You know what you’re doing” and they filmed it using Lee’s knowledge of what it sounded like.

I know I’m a bad person, but I have no sympathy for anyone who gets this now if they are not vaccinated.

And for anyone who gets it and has led cheerleading against masks and/or vax…seriously…fuck them.

I’m sorry. I know I should be bigger than that, but I’m not.

My thing is like the guy in the Tiktok with the wife with cancer… If you don’t trust medicine, at least be like a 7th Day Adventist and refuse all medical care.

But this bullshit about “the vaccine is a hoax” and the minute they get it, they want an outsized portion of medical care devoted to them AND to be pitied for getting it.

    Fuck ALL that.

Why is the vaccine a hoax or a plot, but Remdesvir, other anti-virals and the various treatments in the hospital NOT a plot? It’s just the dumbest of the dumb and if these fucking idiots wanna play stupid games, they deserve stupid prizes. I just know that the vote for Darwin Award of the Year should go to anti-vaxxers. Difference between some idiot who jumps off a roof and dies missing the pool and an anti-vaxxer is that the level of stupid from the roof jumper isn’t contagious…

I was encouraged to learn that certain hospitals in going through triage, they are focusing on those with vaccinations. Why? Well, because they have a better chance at survival and that’s what triage is literally meant to do. It’s not ideological, it’s science.

    Vaccine mandates? Yes, please.

and I agree about reforms, WV.

M4A is an example of a reform that would yield such massive benefits that to dogmatically be against it purely on the basis that “reforms don’t work” would be inhumanly cruel.

Most voters are shallow. We know that because we everyday talk and socialize with them. Few of us sit around in Haight Ashbury coffee houses smoking weed, listening to poets, and talk about revolution. We talk to neighbors and friends and family. We have BBQs and we watch sports. The 60s are gone ! What we do know is that “image” is important to us. Not the candidates “depth” or knowledge but his “image”. Because of tv we want the guy who “projects” better than the other. Kennedy didn’t have Nixon’s command of the facts but he had the image of someone who “knew better’. Forgetting about policies and views -which I highly recommend- the only candidate the democrats had and the one I did not think was good enough for me to support was Beto ” O’Rourke. Young, bright handsome, energetic, charismatic, etc. He could have appealed to the “apolitical” voters. And whether we like it or not Trump appeals to the “apolitical” voter. I only wish I could have seen that before.

That reference if Haight Ashbury is dusty as hell. I can hear the Mamas and the Papas singing “if you’re going to San Francisco”…

Image is definitely valued by the masses over substance, but hyper transactional millennials and zoomers are changing that.

    Thank you.

As an American, we take great pride in freaking the fuck out of our Allies and have for many years.

We’ve recently added our Elections to the Freak Out menu as market research has shown that spicy is very in demand right now.

We realize that no one with a functioning digestive system needs this much spice, but as Americans, we embrace Oscar Wilde, “Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess”.

We’re considering putting that on our money!

    Anyway, sorry for any inconvenience.

Also, when you return, please try our new Reactor HOT Jabanero Policing. Milk’s not remotely enough to remove the burning tears…

UPDATE: We’ve been retooling our foreign policy dishes as our current Chef in Residence isn’t schooled on foreign fare, but shortly, we should have some foreign policy so spicy, it’ll blow a hole in your chest!!!

    Bon Apetit!!!
