bnwBlockedI know all that. I guess I’m one of those who is getting too emotional over this election. Can’t think of when I was ever this bad. Need something lightheartedness.
Speaking of that- if you need to read something funny go over to the Herd board and the Pub section where I tell how I almost died yesterday-seriously !
Cut and paste that herd thing here, please.

bnwBlockedThis is the type of hyperbole that turns good people off. Good people who can actually make a change for the betterment of people who have little. No one -not even Trump or Hillary-is “against” the poor. No one believes these people represent a threat. There is no “WAR” against people who are poor. When people hear these ridiculous words they automatically tune out. Of course there are policies and even laws that adversely impact those who have little. There always have been. And we need to elect those who will actively help those in need along with our own personal work. But there is no “war” against the poor in the sense that we intentionally wish harm to those who we perceive as poor. Neither Hillary nor Trump have any ill will toward those less fortunate. “War against the poor” language does more harm than good because it takes a very serious issue and turns it into pure childish nonsense.
I agree but that is the nature of unsubstantiated political claims.

bnwBlockedI doubt that.
They are in no position to play hardball with Sanders. If they threatened him, he would just run as a third party candidate, and guess what? None of those people would have any say in committee positions since they would lose all power.
That sounds like one of those conjectures people make with a voice of authority, but no evidence.
What’s the source?
And, btw, Hildabeast? Just really has that 3rd grade playground taunting feel to it, ya know?
Heard it on the radio. It is very plausible but only Bernie knows. He had the green light from Stein for the Green Party ticket and I suspect he could have made the 15% requirement between the Greens and his crossover democrat support. That would have put him in the presidential debates. He had to have known that. He bailed in the most nonsensical way given his campaign for the nomination. His supporters have every right to be super pissed. Unless you think he received something much more?
Yes it is 3rd grade playground taunting even though she deserves worse. Besides it is working for Trump as most all the recent polls show. So given all the unsubstantiated crap you and others post here about Trump will be a disaster etc. it is quite tame.

bnwBlockedWow look at all the fear mongering in this thread!
Partisan spin. You go along with the policies we reject so you’re fine with them. But don’t try to convince anyone you have “a truth.” Everyone knows better, and everyone will see it as your spin. You’re fine with the policies and turn a blind eye to the racism, so naturally you don’t accept the criticism. But that will have no impact. We dislike the policies and the racism. That won’t change.
What you will never be able to do is to talk anyone here into accepting the policies. And that’s in the end all that will matter.
You mean your spin. Because after all that is what you have. Spin. Your spin. A spin I reject. I’m not trying to talk anyone into anything, rather I’m letting other Rams fans know that this place isn’t the Communist Corner of Purity since I post here and they could too.
Racism? To blacks your candidate says “heel”! About the TPP she says “gold standard”. She war mongers towards Russia. Her position on anything is for sale.

And until you acknowledge Trump’s racism your credibility on that subject will remain in question.

bnw,
Sheesh, man. You should have quit while you were behind. Now you’re edging past JBS/paranoid, red-baiting territory, which was puerile, fascist garbage back in the 1950s. It’s all the worse for age and wasn’t any better in the original German.
You need to own it. You said communist is what you desire but not what was presented during the cold war. That is why I used it. Your memory is failing you.

Sounds about right.
But Dole had to run against Bill Clinton.

Why would anyone in good conscience vote for someone that stole the nomination? That pissed on the voters in the process? What about all the money spent by the states for an election fraud? How about the message the fraud sends to the people about such a candidate?
Trump now leads in the polls and after the debates will still have a substantial lead. Hildabeast will try to seal it though and that would be unfortunate. Wonder what Bernie was paid to endorse her?

bnwBlockedYes the draft including females would very much be academic to you. Man made global warming is a steaming pile of BS and I say that as a scientist. The earth is COOLING and has been for nearly 20 years. The global climate is driven by the sun. Paying scoundrels like Al Gore for “carbon credits” and taxing people to do so is ridiculous. I see all the doom and gloom here and I really don’t believe you guys truly believe such nonsense.
How do I favor inequality? If you mean the CEO of a public traded company shouldn’t be paid more than 4 times the average company wage, then yes I guess I do. However you supported that suggestion. Or have you forgotten?
bnw, why do you keep doing that? Why do insist on telling me how I think or feel about an issue? Especially after I’ve just corrected you on your error? I’ll say it one more time: No. It’s NOT academic to me. Get it? Matters of war and peace are extremely important to me. Always have been.
As for global warming. Virtually NO scientist agrees with you that the planet is cooling. Crackpots, yes. Serious scientists, no. You might be able to find one in one hundred. And virtually no scientist believes climate change is driven by the changes in the sun. You might want to study the Greenhouse effect and get back to me.
And the carbon credit idea? That came from the Republicans, from conservatives, and was embraced by the Democrats as a “market-based solution.” Virtually no leftist is in favor of it. We’re in favor of implementing strict laws that make corporate pollution illegal, period. No need to reward people for doing their duty. And we also favor massive investment in clean, green, renewable energy, green, clean agro, transport and cleanup. And work toward ending capitalism, which is THE main cause of our environmental disasters.
We agree on the 4 to 1. But you mocked the idea that inequality was a problem for America, so I based it on that. The two things seem to be in conflict.
Oh, well.
No don’t you tell me you feel the same as myself, when I’m a parent and you are not. You don’t know. You can’t know.

bnwBlockedEven the Pope only speaks for 1 billion. Still have to disagree regarding parents vs. non parents. For instance the military draft, as in making females also subject to the draft. I would fight against it as I do not want my daughter forced into something she doesn’t want. For someone without a daughter of draft age the topic is academic. For myself it would not be so.
Sorry, but you’re wrong. It’s not “academic” in the slightest to me. I want peace in the world. No draft for anyone, male or female. I want an end to empire, wars, the surveillance state, nuclear proliferation, weapons proliferation of any kind. I want a safe planet, a verdant planet, a livable planet.
You don’t even acknowledge that we’re polluting ourselves to death and causing massive climate change and heating up the planet. You think that’s all a hoax. That means you don’t want to do what is necessary to bequeath a healthy planet to your own children, much less billions of others, and into the future.
You favor unlimited proliferation of guns, which also endangers your child and everyone else’s. I favor strict controls to ensure the safety of every child.
You love capitalism and have said here that you don’t have any problem with inequality. Inequality actually kills humans, radically decreases their lifespans, and guarantees terrible lives for billions. Capitalism does that. Capitalism guarantees poverty, famine, homelessness and massive pollution and waste.
I could go on and on. In short, I think you favor numerous policies (and an economic system) that make life much, much worse for future generations, and are against doing a host of things that would make life a great deal better for future generations. And you’re a parent.
Yes the draft including females would very much be academic to you. Man made global warming is a steaming pile of BS and I say that as a scientist. bnwBlockedDetest is a strong word but if that is your opinion of me, OK. I fail to see what is difficult to understand regarding those with children or grandchildren caring more for the future course of this country than those who don’t have children. The children are the future and assuming one is a good parent (apparently that had to be said?) you work your present for their future. People without children really only work for themselves in the now IMO since the effect of bad policy on the next generation does not affect them. Of course skin in the game can be had without being a biological parent such as an adoptive parent, guardian etc.
Bnw,
Are you serious? I didn’t direct the word “detest” at you. I directed it at Trump. I detest him.
As for the rest: I care about all of humanity, deeply, profoundly. Always have. Its history. Its present. Its future. I care about the earth, deeply, profoundly. Always have. Its survival well into the future and beyond. It wouldn’t change a thing (overall) if I had kids.
Of course, I’d have a different relationship to my kids than to the rest of humanity, for a host of reasons. Perhaps the biggest is that I’d actually be living with them, and our daily interactions would have direct and immediate impact on each other in a way that can’t possibly happen for a parent in Tennessee and a child of other parents in Malaysia. I’d have a focused love for them unlike the non-focused love of humanity and the planet in general. But I wouldn’t suddenly have greater care toward children who aren’t my own than I do now. I already have that.
As in, yes, you are going to care deeply about your own children in a way that no one else likely ever can, but, in turn, you won’t be caring about other children not your own in the same way, either. By definition. Being a parent doesn’t suddenly equip you with transcendent powers of love and compassion for all the children in the world, or the future. No one needs to be a parent to care about other humans. Your concern will be, however, directed overwhelmingly toward your own children, and their well-being, which means seven billion other human beings aren’t going to be on your daily radar — at least not to the same extent.
My focus IS on that seven billion.
Even the Pope only speaks for 1 billion. Still have to disagree regarding parents vs. non parents. For instance the military draft, as in making females also subject to the draft. I would fight against it as I do not want my daughter forced into something she doesn’t want. For someone without a daughter of draft age the topic is academic. For myself it would not be so.

bnwBlockedW,
I shouldn’t have taken what you said personally, though I really do disagree with your premise.
That said, think about bnw. He’s a YUUGE Trump supporter, and he has kids. You could find millions of parents who support Trump. Right there, that kinda blows up your theory.
I don’t support him. As mentioned, I detest the guy, and I’ve said why in several posts here.
It’s just not a requirement for caring about the world that one has children, and from my own personal experience, I’ve met umpteen parents who don’t and umpteen non-parents who do. It’s not the common denominator for care, concern, compassion, empathy, etc. etc. If it were, then you wouldn’t have parents who support policies and agendas that radically harm others, the planet, the future, etc. etc. . . . and there are literally millions of them in America.
Anyway, hope all is well with you and yours in sunny California.

July 28, 2016 at 1:20 pm in reply to: Trump is toast. He just called for Russian cyberattacks against Clinton. #49567bnwBlockedAnd now Trump, at his presser, calls for foreign espionage.
—————
Well, without getting into a big thing about it — I dont even care about “foreign” “espionage”. I’m so utterly sick of all forms of ‘tribalism’ that i just cant work up any outrage at the notion of “foreign espionage”.
I just dont seem to have a ‘nationalist’ bone in my body anymore.
The US plays the espionage game all over the world. As you know.
The US interferes in other nations politics whenever and wherever it wants. As you know. Why should i get upset about the (shocking ) notion that other nations
might do it here, or that a politician would make an off the cuff quasi-humorous remark about it. It reminds me of when Reagan said “we start the bombing in an hour” or words to that effect. Its just yacking.Anywayz…Am i supposed to be rooting for the American National Security State? Am i supposed root against those evil “foreign spies” ?
I’ll let the Nationalists worry about that.
For me there’s only two tribes now. And there’s always, only, been
two tribes. And you know what they are, comrad.w
vWell you quoted something I didn’t write. I do not know what you mean by two tribes either.
Now regarding cyber espionage no nation does it as well as the US. We truly are #1. Of course we have had the back door keys from the software manufacturers from day 1. We also launched Stuxnet. I don’t doubt another nation either friend or foe could have hacked the DNC emails since that is where in depth dirt on Trump might be found since there is the obvious motivation. Regarding Hildabeasts emails as Sec. of State her tenure being so ineffectual it seems likely other nations were reading them as well.
It could also be organized crime or individuals engaged in hacking these DNC or Hildabeast emails.

July 28, 2016 at 8:52 am in reply to: Trump is toast. He just called for Russian cyberattacks against Clinton. #49534bnwBlockedOn the trump statement….I think Trump supporters will evaluate it as Trump being a bit humorous, shooting from the hip, just slamming Hillary, no big deal.
The pro-Hillary crowd will be all ‘outraged’…and the undecideds….will it matter to them?WV, I think there’s another category: Leftists who can’t stand either of them, have already decided to vote for someone else, but still find Trump continuously appalling and despicable. Including his call for Russia to engage in espionage against his opponent.
We all dealt with eight years of Bush supporters calling the mere criticism of Bush policy “treason.” Just criticism of policy. Some 47 Republicans recently wrote a letter to the Iranian leadership telling them that even if the Iran deal goes through, they’d undermine it and a Republican president would repeal it. If the shoe were on the other foot, and Dems had done this to Bush?
And now Trump, at his presser, calls for foreign espionage. There is also the case that Trump has been cut off from most US and European banks, and has to go to Russia for his cash. He’s personna non grata because he’s known to stiff his business partners, clients, customers, etc. etc. Six bankruptcies to his name already. What average Joe or Jane keeps their shirt after six bankruptcies?
Yes, the Clintons are knee-deep in their own shenanigans. Definitely. But if someone wants a candidate without the heavy baggage of corruption and lies — it’s not the two major-party candidates.
He did not call for foreign espionage. He asked the Russians to release the 30,000 emails if they have them since our government won’t.

July 28, 2016 at 8:46 am in reply to: Trump is toast. He just called for Russian cyberattacks against Clinton. #49532bnwBlockedIt was stupid. And it was certainly reckless. But Trump just doesn’t feel that anything he says will matter. In some ways he has proven himself right on that. He leads Clinton right now.
It’s also partly the Democrats fault.
She’s a terrible candidate and yet the Democrats insisted on pushing her through–even with all of her baggage. Breaking the glass ceiling was all that mattered to some. Loyalty to Clinton mattered most to others.
Well–here it is: two of the most unpopular candidates in history. The Republicans behind the scenes must rally to save Trump(already I heard his VP come out today and say the exact opposite of one of Trump’s dumb comments) and Bernie has to try to save Clinton.
Neither candidate has done much to help themselves.
It’s the anti year vote. Vote AGAINST what you hate.
It’s that kind of year.
So fear will dominate this year.
Fear and hate.
That’s why this election year everyone feels sick.
I feel great. Finally in Trump a major candidate that gives his honest opinion unfiltered by focus groups and not spoon fed by teleprompters.
Trump has been using teleprompters as his “handlers” try to keep him on message–whatever it happens to be. So yeah–he’s being spoon fed.
And what is his honest opinion on–abortion? Should a woman face criminal penalties–as he said–or shouldn’t they–as he said after he got in trouble for saying the first thing? How about immigrants? Is it all Muslims? Is it just some? Which way is the wind blowing today?
If having a loud mouth is the sort of presidential quality you’re looking for–enjoy. Vote for it. The man isn’t even intellectually curious on any issue that doesn’t make him richer. Tim Kaine–governor of New Jersey? Really? He can’t handle the job of president which is why he’ll let Pence run most things and just play in the spotlight, letting his mouth get him in trouble with world leaders and such. He’s a disaster in waiting.
I get that you hate Clinton. But if Trump is the answer for that we’re in big trouble.
Any moron with a big mouth can get up and spout anything. It’s meaningless and it’s certainly not how to govern a nation.
You’re clueless about Trump and teleprompters. When he gives a policy speech sure he uses a teleprompter because he wants to make sure he gets all his points across. Otherwise he’s speaking extemporaneously to the audience and press. He’s comfortable with people whereas Hildabeast isn’t. Those who love their programmed fake politicians hate extemporaneity but Trump supporters love it. Certainly mistakes can and will be made by doing so, but so what?
I know he wants to fund Planned Parenthood. As for anything specific regarding abortion I don’t know other than he’s campaigning as pro life. He does not support criminal charges for women getting an abortion. His comment was not thought out but was in response to the breaking of a law which he responded with punishment, an excellent example of speaking extemporaneously biting one in the butt.
Legal immigration is a must. All refugees from ISIS war torn areas must be settled in no fly zones in that part of the world. Muslim immigrants as all other immigrants to the US must be fully vetted to the satisfaction of the US security apparatus rather than a political pass that threatens the safety of US citizens at home. Illegal immigration will be curtailed as much as possible, the possible including a wall on the border with Mexico for a start.
He may not have known what state Kaine was from but unlike Obama he knows there are 50 states in the Union.
I get that you do not like his style. However many people do like his style. Obama is not the example of how to run a nation. Race relations are in the toilet and that is squarely upon Obama’s bony shoulders.
Yes many people hate Hildabeast for her lack of conviction on any issue when given an opportunity for personal enrichment, her being above the law and flaunting it in the face of law abiding citizens whether refusing to ‘find’ Rose Law Firm records that were outside her White House bedroom door until the day the statute of limitations ran out to her personal email farce as Sec. of State that confirmed both the FBI director and the Attorney General are lap dogs of the Clintons.

We all have skin in the game, if we’re humans. There is absolutely no need to have children to make that happen, and there never has been. Just as there has never been any need to adopt a religion in order to be “moral” or live an ethical, even spiritual life.

However, I have yet to see or hear anybody observe that although the Jew/atheist course of attack was brought up, they didn’t actually go through with it. In the free-wheeling brainstorming of ideas, several bad ones come up. People then look at all the ideas, and throw out the bad ones. So, evidently, this suggestion came out and the parties involved said, “Uh, nooooo. Let’s not run with that.”
Because it never was used.
Meanwhile, Trump used a 6-pointed star against a background of cash and Hillary, yet Trump supporters have argued forcefully that Trump isn’t racist.

My experience is that those that have families with children and grandchildren and who are democrats appear to be far more intense and fearful about Trump than others. You are an example. From reading your posts on this subject you appear to have little interest in the guy and have placed yourself in the “I dunno” category believing there really isn’t that much difference. I don’t know you personally but I suspect you are neither married nor have children.
I know some “leftists” who are single with no kids and to a person they really don’t see Trump as that onerous. I know other “leftists” who are married with children who are so concerned they have already signed up to our groups to do everything necessary to prevent this guy from winning.

Had it been done in secret that would be one thing but to do it in a public proclamation only supports his uncontrollable mouth. Unfortunately, there are so many people who actually think that is so brazen its cool. Its the “I don’t give a shit about what anyone thinks” that people in this country want and admire and believe we need this kind of attitude in the White House. I know these people. There is a HUGE anti-intellectualism that is about to take over this country. People want tough talking, aggressive, individualism and don’t want to listen to elite intellectuals who describe stuff in complicated sentences. We want simplicity like Fox news presents us.
What is the most popular TV? Sunday professional football especially the SB. What are the most frequent commercials? Tough trucks with extremely low voiced narration. Next-reality TV where there is an in your face edginess. We are a country of cowboys. Fuck the intellectuals.
Add to all this is the non educated white males that simply do not like smart, tough (ironic isn’t it), aggressive, individual, successful women and you have a witches brew.
I’ve become the very thing I dislike in so many-a cynic. Scary stuff out there Billy.
Or the american people are tired of the endless excuses for political correctness that only targets them and not the establishment. That the american people are tired of the law existing to threaten them and not the establishment. That the american people see the undeniable proof of the democrat party stealing the election from a bought and paid for lap dog Bernie.
Trump has said he will prosecute Hildabeast. It’s about time.

No way he gets out of this one. He’s just committed political suicide.
Also:
No he hasn’t. It is sad that for the american people to be informed and the outside chance at justice being served the american people have to rely upon foreign entities to provide proof of illegal and slimey behavior of the US oligarchs.
