Barksdale is a free agent after this year. I assume he’s gone for 2 reasons–1, you can only have so many 2nd contract or 3rd contract guys on the OL before you’re spending too much proportionately on that unit, and 2 cause Boudreau linemen are popular in the league (see Shelley Smith).
I assumed that Robinson would move to ROT but I got to thinking about it.
For one thing, it would actually be easier, I think, to find a good enough ROT to replace Barksdale then it would be to find a mauling LOG to replace Robinson.
For another, it would just be easier to let him play LOG and practice some at LOT than to add ROT as a 3rd position he’s learning.
I have no idea what will really happen but I think having a Long/Robinson left side for a couple of years until GR becomes the LOT? It’s ideal.
They probably have decent ROT candidates on the roster already, frankly.
