I havent seen any highlights of that play. What happened? Why did it happen?
Will it keep happening? Should the Rams trade for Nick Foles? Can we blame Fisher for this? What about the white walkers?

    An Laram post.

Coaches script plays for ALL qb’s but as we both know things don’t always go as scripted.

The separation comes with the qb’s that are able to still function at a high level off script.

    Pretty clear.

I credit Everette for his big play having the wherewithal to break off his route and give his qb a target. All Goff had to do was throw it out there.

Heady play by a rookie te.

On the last play EVERYBODY in the stadium and on the Skins sidelines knew where Jared was going with the ball. They were yelling it out on the sidelines.

He has NO idea who his money players are. On 99% of his throws he’s going to a guy before the ball is snapped.

I was told that Spielman did a good job of spelling it out on TV.

Receivers were running free the ENTIRE game.

There was a LOT of frustration and bad body language out there.

    Its a major issue.

So, he’s saying that Goff does not go through his progressions. Hmmmmm

Well I would say this to him directly as honest disagreement there or here, but, IMO that post is overdoing it a bit. In 2 games he has had more than just one unscripted play meaning it’s more than just the one throw to Everett.

On the play in question, the INT, he locked on to Kupp and a washington LB spotted it and jumped the route.

If you watch the entire game that one play quite simply does not define him or what he can be.

So if that becomes a pattern, bad news, and if he learns from it, then there’s no issue.

The problem yesterday was the run defense.

But. We know he DOES. We;ve seen it.

Not like a tuned in seasoned pro but what’s happening here is that one bad play is being set up to define the kid.

I just don’t buy that, based on what we have seen. I won’t be alone on this either.

Yeah, I agree with you. And it’s early in this offense. He needs games under his belt. I dont’ have a problem with the way he played so far…But it’s early, let’s see what he’s got against San Fran.

This ‘locked-on’ criticism is being used a bit indiscriminately. imo
    .
Goff didn’t even see the guy who intercepted the pass. That is my complaint.
    ,
Anyway, no biggy. It is all part of learning to play QB. It is stuff you have to learn in real time.
    .
Everybody makes mistakes. Even the good ones. Except the good ones make mistakes a lot less often and in between those mistakes, they do more good things.

Listen to Goff’s post game. It’a growing pain and he learned a lot in that game he’ll get better, lots better. He’s already identified that problem. McVay said he’d work on the running game and I saw results. I have no doubt they’ll get this fixed as well the offense still put up 20 points . The swiss cheese run defense is more of a concern for me.

it concerns me too. i’m just hoping that at some point the game slows down for him. it’s only been 9 games. if at the end of the season we’re still reading things like this i’ll be more than concerned.

overall i’d have to say though that goff did alright. even if he was missing receivers, through the first three quarters he had a 70 percent completion rate at over 10 ypa. his qb rating was at approximately 130.

and the drive before the last they were in position to score another td and then the penalties.

    we’ll see.

Goff is young and will have “learning experiences” but he has already shown me he’s an NFL qb. The only questions are HOW good will he be, and how long before he becomes however good he will be.

well let’s just say there are no penalties on that second to last drive. which were no fault of goff. and the rams defense is just enough to stop washington on their last td drive.

hey all of a sudden we’re talking about how goff and gurley brought the rams back from a deficit and beat washington.

let’s see how he does thursday and if he learned anything. i’m waiting until the bye week and see where he’s at then.

let me just add to that.

i think i’ll be able to say for sure if he belongs or not by the bye week.

as far as how good he can be? assuming he belongs i don’t think we’ll know until his fourth year. so that’ll be 2019.

sorry. going to add one more thing. i think for most qbs their first three seasons they’re still trying to figure things out. then by their fourth year something clicks. that’s just by looking at stats.

and i’m just talking years of experience. not necessarily games started. now some get it a year earlier or a year later but it’s usually around 3-5 years.
