    Just saw Jim Jarmusch’s ‘Only Lovers Left Alive.’

    In some ways nothing much happens during the entire fucking movie. No real action scenes. No great chase scenes, nothing blows up, no rabid vampire-killers tracking down the vampires.

    But there’s an eerie quality to the entire movie. Post-modern, depressed vampires existing in an age of ecocide. They turn to books, and music.

    Theres some interesting, eerie, long night-scenes of the capitalist-wastelands of Detroit. There are also scenes that take place in Tangiers.

    The vampires in the film call humans ‘zombies’ because of the brain-dead behavior of humanity. Destroying the water, the ecosystem, etc. Drinking human blood is dangerous in this late-capitalist, poisoned, toxic age.

    Tilda just looks awesome as a vampire, btw. Visually stunning.

    Interesting movie. Worth a watch, for sure. The trailer is awful as per usual, so i just posted a tilda interview with henry rollins.
