    Rampage2K-

Colin Cowherd pointed it out yesterday that the Niners tried to get Stafford but Detroit wanted Goff over Jimmy G and they also turned down #8 overall and a second from Panthers which is probably going to be much better than two future late 1st picks.

Nah, it’s nothing to do with BB. What I read (or heard on the radio) is that Stafford had an exhausting relationship with Matt Patricia when he was the beyond awful head coach of the Lions. The Lions were in disarray the entire time under Patricia, and Patricia is now back on the coaching staff at NE.

That seems far more plausible to me than that Stafford is afraid of “tough coaching” from BB. That doesn’t pass the eyeball test.

The elimination of the Patriots as a destination had nothing to do with BB.

A team shouldn’t overpay for a deep threat…but every team needs one or two!

    Todd Gurley

    from https://www.nfl.com/news/todd-gurley-on-jared-goff-trade-he-has-a-lot-of-ball-left-in-him

“Well, another situation where I wasn’t surprised again,” Gurley said Wednesday. “But you know, I like Goff, I like Goff, he’s a good guy. Don’t nobody care about who’s a good guy, but I’m just happy he’ll be able to go somewhere and hopefully those guys welcome him with open arms and just not be judgmental and just let him play. He’s been a No. 1 pick for a reason, and he has a lot of ball left in him. I just want him to be happy, and I just want him to be able to go out there.”

also. the pats wanted him. i would think patricia would have had something to say if belichick was gonna throw his hat in the ring.

not that patricia would have final say on anything. but i’m sure belichick would at least ask patricia’s opinion of stafford as a qb.

maybe patricia respected stafford’s abilities as a qb. but the feeling wasn’t necessarily mutual.

just a thought. but again. patricia isn’t the one making decisions on the pats. so i might be way off.

Report: Lions initially asked Rams for Aaron Donald in Matthew Stafford trade

for some reason it pisses me off that they would even have the balls to ask for aaron.

i know holmes comes from the rams and so maybe it was tongue in cheek. but still.

    i’m seething right now.

Yeah, that ticks me off, too. Could be the Rams are getting a rep for being easy marks, when it comes to trades. That’s not good, obviously.

Again, they gave up waaay too much, IMO, for Stafford. But even the suggestion that the Rams would swap Donald for a QB? Get back to me on that one in 2023 or 2024, when Donald is 32/33. And then only for a Mahomes, Herbert, Allen or another young (Top Three) gunslinger.

I was thinking about Watson, and if I was Houston, I would have asked for Donald + in a deal for Watson. A great player for a great player. One’s a QB, the other isn’t. And Watson is younger, and likely to have a longer productive career, so I can see that request.

But Stafford? No. That’s not even… just no.

In fact Houston asked for both Donald and Ramsey, along with picks.
