Just an FYI on #Rams salary cap situation: Rams are sitting at $9 million after draft holds and restricted free agent tenders are appliedI’m just not sure this is the free agency class to pull the credit card out on. Is there a must-have guy that you have your eye on? It’s easy to fall for “names” but names don’t always represent upgrades.
I don’t think some fans fully understand the concept that whatever $ amount you convert from salary to bonus money to create space gets charged to your cap at some point. Sometimes when the player is no longer even on the team. Which hurts. And pisses your boss (owner) off
Pending Ndamukong Suh leaving, #Rams looking at two fourths and one fifth-round comp picks in 2020 draft
Kelly played special teams and he was being developed behind the scenes. There is nothing wrong in that, nor should a lack of snaps playing behind one of the best RB’s in the league be looked at negatively.
Need a defensive lineman. The fkexibility of Michael Brockers comes into play here, as he can stay outside or move back inside depending on the profile of that next defensive lineman. I’m thinking the new guy is a draft pick. But you never know.

Marcus Peters’ salary became fully guaranteed on Wednesday, which means the Rams can’t conceivably cut him. They can:
A) Pay him $9.1M
B) Sign him to a new deal
C) Trade him and save $9.1MThe Rams will probably let Peters play out the year and go from there. Won’t get much in a trade and signing him long-term is somewhat risky, even if it could lower his 2019 cap hit.

The #Rams are a prime landing spot for veterans, especially those who live in California. They have interest in Clay Matthews… as do a host of others. pic.twitter.com/sDl6gD0CKK

What’s the mood of the coaching staff after that last game, now that they’ve had some time to reflect?
Vincent Bonsignore: Really, really tough pill to swallow but will be used as a learning experience and now all focus is up ahead.

I think [fans would] be surprised how chill Jared Goff is. I visit with him at his locker from time to time after practice just shooting the s—- and he’s got a pretty hilarious dry sense of humor. He is pretty hardcore about his Warriors devotion, too. I called him a bandwagoner a year or so ago but he convinced me he’s been on board with them as long as he can remember. So he’s a legit fan that’s seen the worst of the worst and now the best of the best
I’ve been on the “You gotta add another playmaking TE” side for awhile now. And maybe they will. They really like Gerald and what Tyler brings as well so we’ll see
[John Franklin-Meyers] is in that defensive line mix and will be a rotational piece. But there’s a long way to go before that depth chart gets put together – including a draft that’s got a bunch of good defensive linemen
This was always going to be a crunched year given how new contracts were written up, but there will be relief in the coming years. Obviously, it’s incumbent on them to come up with alternatives in the draft and develop them in order to seamlessly get through this stretch. But that was always part of the plan to supplement the young core.’
a lot of focus this offseason will be geared toward coming up with a game plan to better manage Todd and to diversify some things they do with him and the backups in a way that isn’t as “telling.” That was hard to do given the time frame they were dealing with with C.J

Rapaport and the NFL Network guys think Mathews is coming to LA
Don’t know how much he has left in the tank but a lot of experts think he does have something left to offer ….he would be a good leader for our young LB’s though.

Cooper Kupp on the ACL rehab: “They have to hold me back more than they have to push me.”Warren Sharp@SharpFootball
Teams are gaming the comp pick system. Letting FA walk & not getting greedy. Picks can be traded.>PHI has 3 (3rd/4th/4th)
-Combined value=37th pick overall
>NE has 2 (3rd/3rd)
-Combined value=43rd pick
>SEA has 4 (3rd/4th/6th/6th)
-Combined value=54th pick=
In Brockers case a restructure and extension actually makes perfect sense. Unless of course you think over 11 mil cap hit is good for him?
Vincent Bonsignore@VinnyBonsignore
What exactly are you expecting him to agree to?=

If the Rams don’t go edge with their first pick, there isn’t a good edge at the end of round 3, and they want to draft say, an Oline and a Qb, Then edge almost has to be addressed predraft. imo
March 15, 2019 at 8:57 am #98967InvaderRamModeratorwouldn’t be the worst idea. from what i remember he can play inside as well.
March 15, 2019 at 11:10 am #98969Billy_TParticipantI don’t want Jachai Polite in the First.
Too slow, too short, seems to have a bad attitude, at least from what we’ve been told. Which may be unfair to the guy, but who knows?
I’d rather they just stick with the guys already on the roster than go for another undersized edge. Obo and Ebukam are both faster. Though I really don’t know what to make of the latter.
He tested at sub 4.5, but plays slower than that. The eye-ball test for me is that he gained too much weight to better handle bigger O-line guys, and lost a step or two.
Still, he had one of the most dominant games I’ve ever seen, against KC. Or was it another team?
Anyway . . . if he could crush it in one game, that means he has the potential for much more.
IMO, if they can’t find someone 6’4″ or taller, with serious speed and a very quick step, go in another direction. DT would be the most logical, in my view.
Can’t help but be a bit worried about the defense so far. I have confidence in the O. Not the D. But even the O needs work along the line, and for McVay to really surprise opponents with varied personnel packages.
If they do, I think the Super Bowl again is the likely end story.
