THREAD. Sometimes the bias of the New York Times is so outrageous that it surprises even me. Because what the NYT did yesterday in its election coverage is so dangerous, I try my best to analyze it carefully below.

June 12, 2022 at 2:20 pm #139290waterfieldParticipantWe have relatives in the Bay area. The ONLY thing the recall showed was that even progressive voters can have enough of being afraid to walk their favorite streets downtown. The “City” is a place where people walk to places and it used to be fun and enjoyable. Now-not so much. Whether the D.A. was partly responsible is an open debate but people -progressives included-wanted a change.
June 13, 2022 at 1:50 am #139296ZooeyModeratorWell, here’s a different point of view on that.
THREAD. There is a very revealing thing at the heart of the flood of elite media "think pieces" about the San Francisco DA election. If you get past the flowery writing, what's going on is a pretty fascinating fraud. pic.twitter.com/KrkYbBg9ka

June 13, 2022 at 12:26 pm #139307waterfieldParticipantWhat I know from that is directly from relatives who live either in “the city” or in the Bay area. They are all progressive in their political beliefs and expressed real fear from shopping and otherwise enjoying themselves on the streets of SF. Personally, Barbara and I have enjoyed just walking around downtown SF for years-but I’m concerned now from what I’ve heard from our friends.

Are you saying you didn’t see several more after the ayahuasca? I think I would have seen Deacon, Merlin, Jack Youngblood, and Aaron Donald on the same line, getting 12 sacks in the game, and Roman Gabriel throwing touchdowns to Faulk, Kupp, Woods, Bruce, Holt, Dickerson, and Truax. Josephson, Ellison, Jackson, and Gurley would all have rushing touchdowns, and Fred Dryer would get three safeties. Stafford would get another TD subbing for Gabe. That one would go to Flipper.
All of the above would happen at least three years in a row. Threepeat!!

Not sure what you describe is actually possible.

I’m guessing the ayahuasca would prove you wrong.

Counterrattack will be led by Gen-xers and Millennials, who outnumber Boomers, and Blacks, all with skin directly in this game. Stop looking at every crisis as My Chance for a Comeback, Clinton. This is not about you. You blew it, did enough damage for four lifetimes. Sit down. The American people are profoundly decent and on the same page on almost every progressive issue you could name. We’ve been taken over by a White Christian Nationalist totalitarian cabal, a rabid minority, backed by billionaires and Putin. We’ll win.

For years I had voted for whoever the Green Party candidate in my riding was, in both provincial and federal elections. I always knew that they didn’t have a hope in hell of winning but I didn’t care, it was a matter of principle to me. They seemed to be fighting for more of the things that I believed in than the other parties. I no longer vote Green and I now vote strategically against whoever the conservative candidate happens to be. With the lack of empathy and outright cruelness that I see from both the federal and provincial Conservative Parties up here, it just seems too risky to do anything other than to vote strategically in order to keep them out. I hate that I’ve adopted this way of thinking, but after watching the tactics of the right down there I am seeing the same things starting to happen in Canada.
