and what you need from a slot receiver in my opinion. He caught everything tossed his way. He did so last year too if anyone noticed. The kid has good hands and he hangs onto the ball. My beef is the Rams do not do enough to involve him and that is why I was comparing him to Brandon Cooks of the Saints last week.

Last night I saw a receiver who can definitely fill the slot role.

They need to get him outside a bit, also. He’s fast enough to put pressure on those corners on go routes and fly routes as well as deep ins and outs.

All it takes is one long ball and the deep in is there for weeks…

Wasn’t Austin being used on the outside some in the New Orleans game? He caught a nifty short first down on the sideline.

I do not recall him being targeted in the New Orleans game very often. Seemed like Sam was looking for Tavon on Saturday.
Not impressed with Shaun Hill. Again, since I am here in SoCal I was able to see Clemens perform again and I’m telling you right now he’s much better than Hill but if you want to believe that all the decisions made by Fisher and Snead are the right ones so be it.

I think they are trying to put Tavon in the right position for space. It’s just refining things. Faulk made a great point on that pass in the Packers game where Sam hit Tavon crossing in front of the linebacker. If he just waits a second for Tavon to clear the face of the linebacker and then hits him with the pass, Tavon has all kinds of room. He likely would have scored. He hit him a little early and the linebacker was able to make the tackle. Those are little things to work out, things between receiver and quarterback. But they know what they need to do with Tavon, I think. When everything clicks it’s going to be fun to watch.

Rams led the league in dropped passes 2013. Tavon had the most drops on the team.

He better learn how to catch

That’s not what I believe. What I believe is that over their careers Hill is a better qb than Clemens. I caught some games with each one before they were Rams–Hill with the Lions and Clemens with New York. I am glad KC is having a nice stretch now, but we just disagree which is the better qb. Which is fine, people see things differently. So we should just agree to disagree on this one. 6

Anyway on Austin–I expect big things from him this year and I expect he will line up all over the field and we will see things from him they are just never going to show in the pre-season.
